Answer:	I have changed the oil in my Honda mower (2 years old) a few times and if you haven't added any additional oil between oil changes it would be normal to be a few ounces low, but 10 ounces would be excessive since the oil capacity is only about 13 to 15 ounces. I have someone help me tilt the mower over completely to make sure to drain all of the oil when changing it. If not you may not be draining it all. I also usually change the spark plug when I changed the oil. A fouled plug will cause the mower to burn oil.

If you have a Honda HRX217 mower, just also match your serial number to the correct kit that works with your mower serial number.
