Answer:	No, this model requires electricity to dispense water. Zojirushi does make a model, CW-PZC22/30, with an air pump top so you can heat an go.
Question:	do you need to empty this out at night when turning off for the day, or can you reheat the water the next morning
Answer:	The biggest energy demand with this appliance occurs when it brings a tank of cold water up to temperature. Overcoming all that thermal inertia is much harder work than simply replacing the small amount of energy that "leaks" out of the the appliance over time. If your jar pot is sized appropriately for your usage leave it on. If you have too large a unit (is this possible? ; ) or too small a unit, and are concerned about energy consumption, you may want to purchase something more appropriate to your demands. If you are going on a long vacation, you may want to unplug it, but I suggest that you also empty the pot and leave the lid open or off to prevent development of bad tastes, mold, etc.,. We have had our current pot in continuous operation since 2013. It is used heavily, and is never unplugged. About two weeks ago I had to replace the lid seal (readily available from Zo) which took all of five minutes. That is the only maintenance we have needed in approximately 52,560 hours of uninterrupted operation. Not too shabby. Feel free to leave it up and running. No one should have to wait for coffee.

Answer:	Yes, it's BPA free. My husband bought this and is very conscientious when it comes to food safety, lead, aluminum, BPA in plastics, etc. We absolutely LOVE this hot water dispenser! We keep it on our counter, plugged in, and use it every day for 1 cup coffee, tea, oatmeal, etc. IMPORTANT! We only use Reverse Osmosis water in it. Tap water has a lot of mineral deposits which will build up and degrade the product. Our first one lasted over 15 years! Hope this helps!

Question:	what is the inside lining? stainless or plastic
Answer:	Unfortunately, that I'm unsure of, but this is still a great product. However, the spray version lasts a lot longer and is probably safer for honeybees, as it absorbs quickly onto the surface and acts as a wonderful deterrent to ants. I spray it around the perimeter of my home, as well as the inside at the floor/wall seams & its safe around my 3-YO. Lasts for about 2-3 months on average. Also, if you go with the granules, don't forget to pour it on a day of good rain or the day before to ensure it gets absorbed and distributed properly. Good luck!

A safety function that automatically shuts off power to the heater in order to prevent damage from overheating. The display will show 'HH' to alert that Automatic Shut-Off has been activated. The following conditions may cause activation:

-Unit was plugged in without filling with water.

-Water level is lower than the REFILL line and boiling was attempted.

Answer:	It is not bad product, they just use the cheap components and materials that made it short life

Answer:	The pot is made of glass with the metal/plastic piece attached under it. The part that might be tricky however is that it's a large pitcher and the tea bag string might not be long enough. I have my tea in my cup and pour the boiled water over it. What I really love about the Chef's Star us that it lights up and shuts off when the water is done. It warms up quickly too.

Answer:	I got the 400 ,manual one so it's not gonna stop until you press the on/off button.

Answer:	I don't use a cartridge filter. I use water from a Reverse Osmosis system instead. The ROS is more economical in the long run and it removes the minerals in the water as well so you don't need to descale the hot water dispenser. But you need to take multi-mineral supplement (come with multi-vitamin supplement to compensate mineral lost in drinking water. Consult your doctor for taking any supplement. Check the instruction or contact dealer for how long the cartridge filter last.

Answer:	The pot sits on a base that is the electrical connection. The base is the size around as the bottom of the pot/Carafe. The Base has the electrical cord that plugs into the wall. The On/Off switch is built into the bottom edge of the pot.. After water boils, it will automatically turn itself OFF. Or YOU can touch the switch OFF or ON. When the water is up to the MAX FILL LINE, the pot is very heavy to lift. I LIKE MY KETTLE/POT/CARAFE!

OPERATE THE UNIT

Hot Water Operation

Press the Hot Water button, the green Hot Water indicator above the button will start to blinking, means that the heating element start to work.. When this green indicator change to illuminate always, means the hot water has reached the desired temperature and you can drink it.

 

Cold Water Operation

Press the Cold Water button to start making the cold water, after this, the Cold Water indicator will start to blink, means that the compressor has started running to cool the water. When the Cold Water indicator change from blinking to illuminating, means that the cold water has reached the

desired temperature and you can have the cold drink.

 

Ice-making Operation

1. Press “Ice-maker” button on the operation panel to begin the ice making cycle. And the

Ice-maker indicator will start to blink.

2. The ice making cycle lasts 7 to 15 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature.

3. While the ice-maker is on, the unit will verify water level periodically. If there is no enough

water to make ice, the ice maker will stop automatically, and the Warning indicator will be on,

means that the water level can not reach the requirement level for ice making.

4. The ice maker automatically stops working when the unit has detected full of the ice inside.

And at same time the Ice-maker indicator will change from blinking to illuminating.

5. Ensure to keep a reasonable hygiene level in the water tank of the ice maker. 10

If unit isn’t in use for a long time, take down the water bottle and drain out all water from both

drain port at the back of the unit.

6.Open the ice getting entrance door, use the ice scoop supplied as the accessory to get the ice

from the unit.

Answer:	There shouldn't be any water what so ever. The pot was dry when mine came. Unless, what you received was used at one point and the previous owner didn't empty the pot completely before it was returned.

Answer:	When the water is boiling, you will hear a noise. I had the similar situation. Now I stick the temperature to 190 degree and everything is fine.
Question:	Does one set the timer, and the unit turns off for six hours, whereupon it begins to heat up to reach the set temperature
Answer:	Thank you for your question. Yes, when using the 6 Hour Timer, the unit turns off and then 6 hours later the timer will turn off and the water will begin to heat up until it starts to boil. When the water is brought up to boiling temperature, it will then be kept warm at 194 degrees F. Enjoy!
Question:	Did anyone have any rusting issues with this dispenser
Answer:	3 years I have brown, rust looking scale. They are about 1/4" to 1/2" diameter about 5-6 different spots. Always use reverse osmosis water yet the brown scaling still happens. The issue is the tub has some sort of coating so you can't scrub it with abrasive pads to clean the scaling. I'm buying a different brand without any coating, just bare stainless steel.
