Answer:	Not far. The top bar has a flat hunk of plastic (an inch or so thick) that must make direct contact with the wall. The legs curve forward a bit, and they probably sit about a foot from the wall, I reckon.

Question:	How snug do the arms fit in the bolt holes? Is there any play
Answer:	I bought this years ago. Removed 1 holder and turned the remaining holder vertically and moved it higher up. Was then able to hang the bike vertically. Its works like new with no problem what so ever. Check with the manufacturer if this current model still allows for that. From the photo, I am guessing it will.

Answer:	Very easy. May be more difficult for someone short trying to hang up a heavy bike.

Answer:	Absolutely - This rack will also accommodate mountain bikes. The horizontal loading bar is over-sized to fit fat tire rims but it will easily hold a mountain bike rim as well.
Question:	Will the bike on the top be taller than the top of the rack? My ceilings are only about 83 inches high in my basement where id like to install this
Answer:	The anchors that came with it would only hold about 20lbs. I bought some different anchors to hold more weight.

Answer:	I just measured mine and it was 82 inches from the floor to the top. You will need a few more inches to accommodate the bicycle.

Answer:	The arms are adjustable based on holes along the sides of the center pole where you hang them. My top arms are on the second hole down from the top and my road bike seat is just barely taller than the top of the pole. But I could also drop the arms down at least one hole without hitting the bottom bike.

Answer:	The metal is very sturdy. The weight of what it can hold will depend a lot more on how you bolt it in or if you hit a stud etc. Summary: the metal is fine more depends on how you install it. I bought these and they have been great. Also work on my Large Mountain Bike.

Question:	what is the difference between the Rugged and Standard version of this bike rack
Answer:	This bike stand does not need to be attached to the wall. It just needs to be centered on its base with the bike or bikes properly loaded. I cannot see the picture of your husband's electric bike, but as long as you do not load a bike or multiple bikes that, together, exceed 100 pounds, it should work fine.
Question:	Can I buy hooks or install accesories to hold my helmets on the side? It would be a nice addition to keep a lot of my stuff in one place
Answer:	The arms are fairly snug. there isn't a lot of play in them. The top and bottom pieces do have some (very little) play but this can be dealt with by securing it to the wall where it will be. I had two bikes (a townie and schwinn) that both had some weight to them unsecured in the garage and never had an issue, but if movement is a concern securing it to the wall will solve that issue.

Answer:	I think it is either a paint or a very thin vinyl coat. I did spray the inside of the hooks with black Plastidip to protect the finish on my bikes. They sell the Plastidip spray cans for around $3-4 at most stores that sell spray paint.

Question:	Does this work with a rack and basket
Answer:	I don't know what rack you're referring to. The bike sits with the back tire in a metal, "C" shaped, horizontal track, and the front of the bike is raised until it (the Bike) is vertical. The bike stays vertical with the help of an adjustable metal bar that supports the seat stem and a strap that keeps the front tire from moving. I do not have a basket. But, if I did, it would be no problem as long as it is on the front of the bike. A back basket would not work. I like the rack and the additional floor space it provides.
