Question:	I plan to staple down 3/8" engineered flooring in the upstairs of a home over vinyl flooring. Will this underlayment work underneath
Answer:	If your floor is level, just pull up the old vinyl, put down this underlayment, and float the floor. There were a few areas where I had to staple to the subfloor over this underlayment, and it worked just fine. It's not that difficult, and I am certainly not a pro.
Question:	How is it different than roberts 70-193 super felt underlayment 360-feet square roll for sound reducing and absorbing ? Is it just bigger role
Answer:	Hi There!The felt is going to have an stc rating of 66, will be 3mm thick and will be made of felt with the built in vapor barrier. The Roberts First Step underlayment is going to also be 3mm thick, with a stc rating of 67. This underlayment will be made up of two sheets of plastic with polypropylene foam beads in between those. Answer:	I used under engineered hardwood which did not require glue or nails because it clicked together. I would think that you definately would not use glue.

Answer:	Not sure why you would have it uncovered for extended period. We are just now installing for first time. Previous underpayment had no odor and once covered no odor year later. I think we will be just as happy with this brand

Answer:	there is a high chance that the vinyl becomes slippery due to the finished aluminum

Answer:	Not at all. I've used various types of underlayment and this is by far my favorite. No noise, great insulation, and comfortable to walk on.
Question:	Any reason not to use this with lvp with a pad already on the bottom of the plank
Answer:	LVP tends to be very thin, with a very tiny click lock mechanism. I'd be concerned that too much padding may allow the planks to separate. It might be worth trying, though. While LVP walks a little quieter than Pergo, both products tend to walk a lot noisier than hardwood. A quality pad like this makes all the difference with Pergo. It makes the floor sound more solid, and a lot quieter. It should help out with LVP, as well.
Question:	I am on the second floor and need quiet foot traffic. Will this help with that
Answer:	Yes, the IIC rating is what most condo complexes now require to minimize noise transfer. Used it on several condo projects. Great pad.

Question:	Can I use this behind garage door panels for sound barrier
Answer:	I used the ultraseal underlayment beneath a 1/2" hickory and nailed down the floor. Nailing through the underlayment obviously would eliminate the moisture barrier properties but it works great for sound absorption and provides a slight cushion. We used this converting an upstairs bedroom to a home gym so we wanted the cushioning and sound absorption only.

Answer:	I wouldn't. Its an underlayment/moisture barrier to be placed between concrete sub-floor and laminate wood flooring

Answer:	I doubt it but I'm not sure this is what you need. This underlayment is essentially foam that rips pretty easily. It likely won't last very long.

Question:	Do I need to buy a thermostat to control it? Or can it be connected to a switch? Just on and off
Answer:	You need a thermostat to install it properly - SAFELY. The mats are standard 110 / 120 volt hot & neutral. You could wire it to a switch and the mats will not care. The Tstat's most important role is turning the mats OFF, not on. Without a stat the mats are just going to keep making heat until you turn them off, maybe after the house burns down, maybe not. No switch, timer, photocell...whatever you employ to control the mats is going to take the place of a thermostat for a proper and safe installation. Anything else would be reckless.
Question:	What underlayment is recommended for this heating film
Answer:	I laid it right on the tile. Works great.
Question:	Can these be cut and wired in a series to one thermostat
Answer:	yes
Question:	Planning 1 mat 1.5x5 = 90 watts. Can I use this w/o thermostat? Just on a gfci protected circuit w/ off/on switch
Answer:	Yes. I did this and it works just fine. I could not find an inexpensive thermostat that would operate properly on such a low load / resistance so I just hard wired with a cut off switch. No problems so far and installed about 6 months?

Answer:	Hi there! This is going to be a 2mm thick pad that will have your vapor barrier also. Its going to also provide you with excellent sound dampening, and will be mold and mildew resistant. Question:	Is this also a vapor barrier? And do we need a special tape to tape the ends together so that vapor can not leak up between once floor is laid
Answer:	I used a layer of plastic below this as a vapor barrier (I've laid about 7 floors, and have done this each time). You will need to tape the plastic together at the seams, but this foam has an adhesive strip. At least it did when I bought it. You can tape it with any tape really, as it only holds the plastic and/or foam in place until the flooring is laid. Good luck!
