I thought about keeping it out of any direct sun but I'm not sure how important that factor is. It mounts flush and when in the closed position is very snug.

Answer:	There isn’t a door exactly but you can see the wood in the picture acts as a door of sorts. There is a rope pull to get the ladder down. I plan to add a little molding to finish it off but that is not necessary.

I previously had a smaller motor on the two door and it struggled at the top of its motion...but this cud b because the springs were getting old. For the difference in price, I’d go with the larger motor if it’s a larger door. Had them both for one year, and so far so good.

Answer:	There is no insulation on this product. Its just aluminum and wood. I can't say if covering a 22 1/2" by 4' hole with a 1/4" sheet of plywood equals R10 or not.
Question:	Is there a limit to how many remotes can be programmed to one opener
Answer:	No - it is not fire rated. I actually do fire safety work and fire rating has nothing to do with the aluminum ladder itself. A fire rating would be based on the ability of the ladder system, when closed, to prevent fire from spreading from the room below up into the attic or vise-versa. A thin sheet of plywood will never pass fire rating standards. Fire rating would require an insulated cover/door preferably of non-combustible materials, although a properly designed wood door can be made to pass standard test. Even an uninsulated steel plate would not be enough because the back side would get hot enough to ignite combustibles which would be a "fail" in standard tests. Fire-rated attic ladders must be out there somewhere, but this is not one.
Question:	Will this work on genie
Answer:	I would say no. The product description indicates that it fits 7 foot 8 inches as the lowest ceiling height. The ladder folds in three places and the issue would be cutting at the 3rd fold line. There are ladders out there designed for 7 to 8 foot ceiling heights. To be safe I would go with one of those.
Question:	Is this compatible with acsctg type
Answer:	The quick answer is yes. I measured mine, it's exactly 53 3/8" long. So you are going to be tight. If your opening is square, I think it will just squeak in. If you are a talented guy, the opposite-hinge end can be removed and shortened, mine could be trimmed by one inch easily and still have the tips of the stairs pass by as it closes. My ladder is extended 1/4" past the ladder height limit, so I'm as long a ladder length as you can go. If I were you, I would buy it. Good ladder, went in easily, works well and is stable. I'm a big guy, tend to push things to the limits and this ladder can take it. If this ladder is satisfactory for what you need in other respects, check your opening for square, if you are good or know you can handle a bit of modification, go for it with confidence. You will do fine.

Answer:	7' without the extension kit. I bought the extension kit and I used it for my 8' doors.
Question:	How difficult is it to replace the drive belt? What are the basic steps to do this
Answer:	Without know exactly which motor you have I can only give general directions from memory. You would need to take the motor down and remove the pin on top of the door. At the end closest to the door there is an adjustment to release the tension on the belt. Back off the tension until you can free up the belt. Snake out the belt and install the new belt. Remount the end closest to the door and then the motor. Tighten up the belt so there is 1/4" to 1/2". Refer to instructions to reset the upper and lower limits on the door. You should be able to find instructions for your opener model online for the Genie SilentMax at www.geniedoor.com. Go to the support tab and look up you opener.

Answer:	hi,i think the bottom button on the wall control enables the automatic motion detector. one's for light on/off and the other is for the detector. sorry, i don't remember which is which. if that doesn't work than theirs a problem in the unit. i'd contact genie

Answer:	I don't believe any cell phones have the capability of transmitting operational codes even if you created a program for them that would allow them to do it because they don't have transmitters at those frequencies, but several companies make internet based equipment that can be used to activate almost anything, via a smart phone signal.Contact alarm companies that allow you to use your smart phone to see your premises and operate lights, and I'm sure they can work out adding your garage door to the list of what they can do for a price.However just because you can doesn't mean you might want to go to all that trouble and ongoing expense. The existing remotes are small and easy to use. You phone would be much more cumbersome to use and not worth the extra trouble unless perhaps you only thought you might need it as an occasional back up.

Answer:	This is moderately difficult. ON the side of the unit, there is a dimple. You need to force a small straight blade screwdriver or the clip into it and then pry the side of it open.Once this is poipen, slifde the small screwdriver around the edge, prying it all the time until you get it open.
