12 best racquetball strings
Let's unravel the world of racquetball strings, where the right choice can significantly impact your game. The strings on a racquetball racket play a crucial role in determining power, control, and feel. Here are some key points to consider:
Material: Racquetball strings are commonly made of materials like nylon, multifilament, or a blend of materials. Each material has its own characteristics. Nylon strings, for example, are durable and provide good power, while multifilament strings offer a softer feel.
Gauge (Thickness): The gauge of a string refers to its thickness. Thicker strings generally offer more durability but can sacrifice some power and feel. Thinner strings, on the other hand, may provide more power and control but might not last as long.
Tension: String tension is the amount of force applied when the strings are being installed on the racket. Tension can impact the playability of the racket. Higher tension typically provides more control but may reduce power, and vice versa.
String Pattern: The pattern in which the strings are arranged on the racket can affect your playing experience. Open string patterns generally offer more power, while closed patterns provide more control.
String Type (Monofilament vs. Multifilament): Monofilament strings are made from a single material and tend to be more durable, providing good control. Multifilament strings are made from many smaller fibers and often offer a softer feel.
String Maintenance: Keep in mind that strings wear out over time. Regularly inspect your racquetball strings for signs of wear, and consider restringing when needed to maintain optimal performance.
Ultimately, the choice of racquetball strings depends on your playing style, preferences, and skill level. Experimenting with different string setups can help you find the combination that suits your game best. Whether you're a power player or focused on precision, the right strings can make a noticeable difference on the court.

Ashaway has introduced another technical innovation to its line of racquetball strings: a polyurethane (PU) based, multifilament nylon string designed to add toughness and durability for players who like to really cut and spin the ball. Ashaway’s first string using this technology, new MultiKill 17, combines a high tenacity multifilament nylon sheath with a specially formulated polyurethane resin that bonds the string into a single matrix and adds durability while providing superior feel. The smooth PU surface of MultiKill 17g enhances grip, while the 17-gauge construction maximizes power. "Like Zyex, polyurethane resin is a relatively new kid on the block for racquetball strings," said Ashaway's Steve Crandall. "It can be formulated to offer many different properties, and when combined with other materials, like high tenacity nylon multifilament fibers, can provide strings with exceptional playing characteristics. MultiKill 17 is our first offering using this innovative material technology, and we are excited to be able to compete in this market segment." The key difference with this new technology, Crandall explained, is the matrix design. With other multifilament nylon strings, like Ashaway’s popular SuperKill XL line, the core and sleeve or wear layer elements remain separate, and retain some ability to move relative to one another. The PU resin in the new MultiKill string binds the mulfilament sheath and surface into a single, unitized matrix. This gives the string added strength, especially on off-center hits near the edge of the frame, while the natural adhesive properties of the polyurethane surface adds grip. At the same time the string retains its soft feel and comfortable playability. Ashaway’s MultiKill 17 strings are black in color and 1.25 mm thick. They come in 40 ft, individual packages of 360 foot reels. Recommended string tension is up to 40lbs.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this machine be used for badminton? Do the drop weight show enough accuracy for badminton? Do the clamps fit well in the cross strings |
Answer: | yeah, I use this machine fixed over 50 times. The clamps are for the tennis, however, those are also work on badminton. I suggest you do not use this 2 points machine with high tension(25+), because I broke 3 rackets with 25. If you don't care the money, I suggest you buy a 6 points machine which is much safer for the high tension. |
Question: | So what is the difference between the gamma progression ii 200 and the gamma x-2 tennis stringing machines? thanks |
Answer: | I believe the PROGRESSION 200 base is made of steel while the X2 is all aluminium alloy. I would suggest getting the X2 as there woild be no rust issues and its lighter. |
Question: | How many sets of strings does this come with |
Answer: | I believe it comes with 7? The quality varies. Some sets are very cheap synthetic gut (good for practice!) and some are really good, like a hybrid set with both natural gut and poly). It gave me a chance to try different strings to determine what I liked most and could afford. Most of the sets you get are priced at $6 but some of the sets they give you are as high as $12 (like the gut/poly). For the cost of restringing by a pro at $20 * 7 strings, this thing pays for itself. I'm a string breaker, I have restrung my racket for an entire year, saving so much money. |
Question: | Is this machine made in the USA |
Answer: | I need to check the stringer itself tonight, but the box said Gamma -- Made in Taiwan. |
