11 best bareback pad
A bareback pad is a specialized piece of equipment used in equestrian sports and horseback riding. It serves as a cushioning and grip surface that is placed directly on the horse's back, allowing the rider to ride without a traditional saddle. Here's what you need to know about bareback pads:
Design and Construction: Bareback pads are typically made of materials like foam, fleece, neoprene, or synthetic suede. They are designed to provide comfort to both the horse and the rider while maintaining a secure grip.
Comfort: The primary purpose of a bareback pad is to enhance the rider's comfort by providing a cushioned surface to sit on. It also helps distribute the rider's weight more evenly across the horse's back.
Grip: Many bareback pads feature non-slip materials or textures on the underside to ensure a secure grip on the horse's back. This helps prevent the pad from shifting during riding and ensures stability for the rider.
Safety: While riding bareback can be a more intimate and natural experience for the rider, it can also be less secure than riding with a traditional saddle. Bareback pads help improve safety by providing a bit of stability and reducing the risk of slipping.
Versatility: Bareback pads are used in various equestrian disciplines, including trail riding, casual riding, and even in some types of rodeo events. They are also popular among riders who are training or conditioning their horses.
Additional Features: Some bareback pads come with extra features such as built-in stirrups or handles to provide the rider with additional support and stability.
Benefits for Horses: Bareback pads can also offer benefits to horses. They allow the horse to feel the rider's cues more directly, promoting a better connection between horse and rider. Additionally, they can be more comfortable for horses with sensitive backs.
Rider Skill: Riding with a bareback pad requires more balance and skill than using a traditional saddle, as the rider has less to hold onto. It can help improve a rider's balance and feel for the horse's movement.
Maintenance: Bareback pads should be regularly cleaned and maintained to ensure their longevity and hygiene, especially if they are made of materials like fleece or suede.
Personal Preference: Whether to use a bareback pad or a traditional saddle is often a matter of personal preference for riders. Some riders enjoy the close contact and natural feel of riding bareback, while others prefer the added security and support of a saddle.
In summary, a bareback pad is a specialized piece of equestrian equipment designed to provide comfort, grip, and stability for riders who prefer to ride without a traditional saddle. They are used in various equestrian disciplines and can be a valuable tool for both riders and horses. However, it's important to choose the right bareback pad for your specific needs and ensure proper maintenance to keep it in good condition.

Question: | Is the hardware stainless steel. Where do I order the girth extenders |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would it fit a small 12hh pony |
Answer: | It is a separate piece. But a regular girth won't work. It fits our very big havovarian. |
Question: | Can you add stirrups |
Answer: | No, it doesn't. |
Question: | is it avalible in cob/extra large pony size |
Answer: | I'm not sure what you mean by it having a handle, but it does not have a carrying handle. It is a bareback pad, so it doesn't have any type of "handle" or pommel for riding. |
Question: | Would the girth fit a cob or mideuiim pony |
Answer: | i bought the queen size blanket for my daughters bed & it covered both sides & foot end of the bed (pretty close to the picture). but my daughters bed has side rails & footboard, a bunky bed platform (which is a 2" high platform of wood instead of a boxspring) with a regular mattress. if i change out the bunky bed platform to a low profile mattress, i would still have plenty of overhang so the boxspring would be covered. in the picture it looks like they have the boxspring on the floor w/a deep mattress, which makes the blanket look big. even though it is a really good in size. hope this helps! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this come with a girth |
Answer: | Yes, the stirrups can be removed |
Question: | Exactly what is the material that you sit on? It looks like plastic, so my only concern with this pad is that it would be slippery on your tush |
Answer: | No saddle pad needed. I have two. They are great. |
Question: | can you mount with this pad |
Answer: | I would say it is about 3/4 of an inch thick, maybe a little less. It is fleece on the bottom and microsuede on the top so it doesn’t provide the same sort of padding as a felt pad would, but is still comfortable for me and my mare. |
Question: | Is is black... I ordered one and it looked purple so I send it back... would like to order it again if it's black |
Answer: | Can't really give an answer. My horses use a 26" western cinch and I have the pad on the highest holes on each side. It can be extended 4 more holes on each side, 2 inches apart. This should fit most horses. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the pocket on the other side the same size as pictured |
Answer: | No, seriously the worst and most dangerous horse product I have every purchased. |
Question: | Does this work on a quarter horse under 1000lbs |
Answer: | It seems to me we ended up cutting everything off of it and used it as a saddle pad. |
Question: | How do the stirrups attach to the pad? Are they removable |
Answer: | I loved mine. It's hard to get it tight enough, though while getting on your horse. if you have a tall horse. You'll need to use your step stool to get on. I would say this product is best if you have a calm, dependable horse. Stick with a traditional saddle, otherwise. |
Question: | What are actual dimensions for the pad and girth. Top bullet point and 4th down list 2 different sets of dimensions |
Answer: | yes, they are easily removed and its a good idea too. |
