| Answer: | Hello and Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you and yours. You've chosen one of my law enforcement equipment topics . . shoulder holsters and weapons retention. I was always was a Galco fan. I wore shoulders the several years I was a big city policeman. In the winter I wore it with the uniform Ike jackets we were issued . . not knowing if you are an officer, or not, I'm going to offer some "carry" tips. I carried a Smith and Wesson Model 37 (air weight) known as a "Chief Special" It is a 5 shot revolver of the highest quality. Your Ruger 380,, in my professional opinion, is the sweetest .380 on the market . . I carried it in an ankle holster, and belly band holster (with the button next to it unbuttoned for easier retention of it. So, I have shot at least 1,000 rounds through mine, with not one malfunction, from day 1 using range ammo. I can identify with all that you're interested in. As I mentioned earlier, I have only ever used Galco shoulder holsters (SH). I love them all . . the amazing quality, and the fit with holster designed for my particular fire arm. The Jackass rigs are wonderful as are the Miami Vice models. In that the New Barsony holster looked to be of exceptional quality, hung well on the models wearing them in the ads, and only cost around $50.00, I decided to get one for MY Ruger .380. The holster came quickly (as do most Amazon products), and fit beautifully. I was SO impressed with the quality of the holster (great looks, comfortable, VERY sharp looking, and after a little practice of drawing an empty Ruger .380 (ALWAYS remove the magazine before handling the gun and check the chamber by pulling the slide all the way back and then visually examining the firearm. Only then, practice with your gun). So after all this, I absolutely recommend this outstanding holster for you .380. I suppose I could have simply typed "Yes." Get it and wear it confidently. This is a traditional styled shoulder holster featuring a wide stay flat shoulder pad constructed of two layers of Cordura, laminated and edgebound for stability and comfort. The holster includes a reinforced thumb break, a polyslide sight channel for an easy draw, a tie-down strap to attach to the belt and is fully lined. The harness offers four way size adjustment for a perfect fit with no binding under the arms or behind the neck. The offside strap is constructed of a soft nylon for all day comfort. There is no irritating velcro or elastic used in the harness. This is an extremely comfortable and concealable shoulder holster. The holster is constructed using only top grade, new materials, and no surplus automotive foams, fillers or liners. The Cordura nylon exterior provides resistance to scuffs, abrasions and moisture. The interior features a smooth nylon lining and a closed cell foam moisture barrier. It is sewn using nylon thread and edgebound with nylon binding tape using double needle stitching to provide about 14 stitches per inch reinforcement. The combination of materials and hand finishing provides a strong, good looking, long wearing holster.

| Answer: | Hi there. First off I think you should consider something other than a shoulder rig, especially for a large pistol. I bought the rig you're looking at, but I wouldn't do it again. It's large and bulky under your arm and clumsy to draw from. I don't think any CCW instructor would approve of any kind of shoulder carry, because to cross-draw you use a circular sweeping motion, and every innocent bystander your weapon passes in front of can sue you for Assault with a Deadly Weapon--even if no shots are fired and nobody gets hurt. I find that inside-the-belt holsters are the all-around best for concealed carry, even for my Glock 21 .45 acp. All the rest are not as good, including shoulder rigs, any cross-draw holsters, any of the millions of CCW clothes out there (most of the the last look like crap, don't conceal, can't be drawn from even in the best circumstances... and are flat-out dangerous with loaded guns). Get the best quality and highest reviewed out there. As they say: "Stay Safe" |
