12 best monofilament lines
Monofilament lines, often referred to simply as "mono," are a type of fishing line widely used by anglers for various fishing applications. These lines are known for their versatility, durability, and ease of use. Here's what you should know about monofilament fishing lines:
Composition: Monofilament lines are made from a single strand of synthetic material, usually nylon. The term "monofilament" literally means "single strand."
Diameter and Strength: Monofilament lines come in a range of diameters and pound test strengths. The pound test refers to the maximum amount of force the line can withstand before breaking.Anglers can choose the appropriate line strength based on the type of fish they intend to catch.
Flexibility: Monofilament lines are known for their flexibility and stretchability. This stretch can be advantageous when fighting fish, as it acts as a shock absorber, reducing the risk of the line breaking when a fish makes sudden, powerful movements.
Knot Strength: Monofilament lines generally have good knot strength, making it relatively easy for anglers to tie various types of fishing knots securely.
Visibility: The visibility of monofilament lines in the water can vary depending on factors like line color and water conditions. Some anglers prefer using lines with low visibility colors, such as clear or green, to reduce the chances of fish detecting the line.
Buoyancy: Monofilament lines have neutral buoyancy, meaning they neither sink nor float. This property can be advantageous for fishing lures and baits at various depths in the water column.
Abrasion Resistance: Monofilament lines are relatively resistant to abrasion, but they can become weakened over time with repeated use and exposure to abrasive elements, such as rocks or submerged structures.
Versatility: Monofilament lines are suitable for a wide range of fishing techniques, including casting, trolling, spinning, and bait fishing. They can be used in freshwater and saltwater environments.
Cost-Effective: Monofilament lines are often more affordable compared to other types of fishing lines, making them an economical choice for many anglers.
Maintenance: Anglers should regularly inspect and maintain their monofilament lines. Over time, exposure to UV light and water can degrade the line, potentially reducing its strength and performance.
Environmental Considerations: It's important for anglers to dispose of monofilament lines responsibly to avoid environmental harm. Many areas have recycling programs for used fishing line to prevent it from ending up in aquatic habitats.
Overall, monofilament lines are a popular choice among anglers due to their versatility, ease of use, and cost-effectiveness. However, it's essential to select the right line strength and diameter for your specific fishing needs and replace it when signs of wear or damage are observed to ensure a successful and enjoyable fishing experience.

User questions & answers
Question: | can you find 60lbs. with diameter |
Answer: | Thanks, good |
Question: | Two questions: 1) how much memory (i.e. birds nesting)?, 2) what color for Lake Michigan salmon fishing |
Answer: | All mono has some memory, I’ve never fished Lake Michigan. We troll for salmon in the Pacific Ocean, and main line can be spectra or any color mono. Leader should be clear or same color as water, usually a darker green |
Question: | will this line in 25 test be good for flipping in heavy cover for bass |
Answer: | 25 pound test will be great for flipping with a 200 or 300 size bait casting reel such as a Daiwa Tatula 200 or a Shimano Cardiff 300. A 100 size bait caster like a Daiwa Tatula 100 would have too narrow of a spool and you`d only be able to get about 30 yards of 25 pound line on a small reel like this. Also the line would not come off reel smoothly because 25 pound would be too course for a small 100 size bait caster. |
Question: | Does this stretch |
Answer: | Of course. All fishline stretches. Solid steel stretches. It's all matter of degree. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I'm trying to order 3,000 yards of the 12 lb test. Once added to my cart, it changes from 3.000 yards/12 lb test to 10 lb test and 330 yards. correct |
Answer: | Yes, this is very much safe on a motorcycle as well. |
Question: | when i order 4lb test it changes to 17lb in cart, has anyone had this issue |
Answer: | Yes, especially if it is painted. |
Question: | Is this line mono or braid |
Answer: | One is for wax and the other is to detail your car in between washes and waxes |
Question: | The listing says 12 lb 330 yard TriLene but my cart says 10 lb. which is right |
Answer: | I don't see why not! The bristles are about medium/soft so they would be perfect for doing emblems, lettering or door jambs and such. Wheels might need something with a stiffer bristle unless your cleaning light dust with a good wheel cleaner. I'd also keep my exterior brushes labeled and separate from my interior brushes to prevent contaminating delicate lighter car interiors. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this stretch like elastic? I am not using it for fishing. I need super thin and super strong elastic |
Answer: | My best guess is it's a typo. You can chat or contact site . |
Question: | How can 1 package of line 6lb test 250yrds be |
Answer: | The Line is made in the USA .... and is great for trolling for WALLEYE on Lake Erie |
Question: | Is it made in China |
Answer: | Trilene is traditional monofilament line. Fireline is a braided line. They serve different purposes. The biggest differences are monofilament line stretches, braided line doesn't. Given equal diameters, braided line is stronger, or another way to put it, given equal breaking points, say 20 pounds, braided line is thinner. It is much easier to work with monofilament. It is easier to cut, easier to tie knots, and is easier to untangle. Personally, for general purpose largemouth bass fishing, say throwing crank baits, spinners, buzz baits, flipping, etc., I use monofilament. Where braided line shines is where sensitivity is important or where you are using light weight lures. Also, if you are fishing deep and need the extra sensitivity to feel light bites braided line works well. Braided line, because it doesn't stretch, transmits vibrations well. Oh, monofilament is also a lot cheaper. I rarely use braided line. I would use it if I were fishing light jigs deep for smallmouth bass, but that's about it. |
Question: | Comparable to fireline? Imterested in findind more cost effective alternative to Fireline. Thanks in advance |
Answer: | Our Fluorokote is a clear line, you should have no problems with it. |

Question: | Crimes appear to be too small? I can’t feed the mono back through the crimp. They’re too small. 1.1mm crimps. Any thoughts |
Answer: | I 'think' I know your problem since at first I had the same problem. When you snip the ens of the line, you actually elongate the end and it will not fit back thru the crimp but if you cut the end with a razor blade, it will tightly slip back thru. |
Question: | What size are the loop protectors |
Answer: | Maybe 3 or 4 inches. I cut them in half to make smaller loops |
Question: | What brand leader is this |
Answer: | It is Catch All Tackle brand. |
