Answer:	It's a smooth plastic with a touch of a suede feel to it. It should work well for running but you may find it to get sweaty inside after a long/hard run. Not a lot of air flow/ventilation in it. But it will keep you very dry from the outside moisture. The hood is also nice and deep so your whole head is covered.

Answer:	I'm 5'10", about 220 lbs. and I bought the large. It fits well, but is a little tight around the shoulders. Depending on your husband's build. The large is roomy around the arms and the torso length is good too. He might be good with a medium if he's a skinnier guy.

Answer:	Boy, those photos are super dark. I have this jacket in teal and in black (I love them!). Based on the photos of the teal jacket I’m going to guess this is a purple jacket. The teal photo that is closest to the actual color is the third photo but it’s still too dark. The teal is brighter and pops more in real life. The Spectra photos have a purple tint...or at least have a purple tint to my eyes. Hopefully the seller will get back to you on the actual color. Good luck!
