User questions & answers
Question: | Is it a good if for a 5'6" woman |
Answer: | Yes, it is. The seat is adjustable. I am short (5'0) and have the seat at is lowest and with that I can only stand on my tippi toes (LOL) |
Question: | what size wheel |
Answer: | will a 24B such High Timber AL Red fit a boy 5'8" tap |
Question: | One of the reviewers mentioned that the frame is not aluminum but in fact steel. Is this correct |
Answer: | The information from the manufacturer said steel frame for The S5486A Men's High Timber mountain bike (Matte Black) |
Question: | I am 5' 9" would this bike be a perfect fit for me |
Answer: | The S5486A Men's High Timber mountain bike (Matte Black) has 29" wheels . The manufacturer said 18" frame. They field test those bicycles for up to 250 pounds. Whether this bike would fit /work for you or not is somewhat of a matter of opinion and personal choice. For the casual bike riders, most individuals use the size (diameter) of the wheels: 20", 24", 26"...etc to make the selection of the bike they wish to purchase. Bikes measured this way have frames designed relative to the tire size, so the larger the tire, the larger the frame. Some bike manufacturers may use a simple overall bike measurement such as x-small, small, medium, large, x-large; the bike size is usually on a sticker somewhere on the frame on other brands. (Only the custom bikes from this manufacturer are sized xs, small, med, large or xl , and these are not custom bikes)The manufacturer may label the bikes Boy's, Men's, Girl's, Women/Ladies however, they are not only meant for younger or older individuals. The rider will need to go by their height/inseam size. Keep in mind that for the 700c series road and hybrid bikes, the rim is larger in diameter so it will bring this frame higher up. These type of bikes (700c wheeled and hybrid) may be better suited for an individual 5' 7" and taller. Someone of a small stature may have a difficult time riding the bike comfortably. Each user may have a different personal preference though. ( note, this is not a hybrid or 700c wheeled bike. The above info is just for general reference) Riding a bicycle that is not correctly sized to the rider may result in the rider's feet not being able to touch the ground and balance the bicycle, properly reach the handlebar for steering or braking, and loss of control when pedaling. This sizing below is just a general guideline for some Schwinn and Mongoose bikes. It is always best to be professionally measured to find the best fit/size if unsure.Bike Wheel Size - Your Approx. User questions & answers
Question: | What is the best rack for this bike |
Answer: | Good question, I got a seat post type rack for my bike. Looked awesome on the shelf matching anodized paint and all. Put it on the bike and it looked horrible. Even thought the bike is a hybrid, the cruiser type racks fit and look better than the mountain bike type. The best looking and fitting racks are the ones made by Schwinn. |
Question: | I am 76 years old. I am not in excellent shape but in good shape. I want to start riding a bike. What type of bike is the easiest to peddle |
Answer: | I'm 74 at 5' 4" tall, so i purchased the Schwinn Suburban Sport. It has several gear range settings that make it very easy to peddle at your desired speed. The gear selector on the right handlebar is simple to use , just turn the numbered selector to the number you prefer. I start off in a lower number and shift up to a higher number after i get going. I choose this bike because I can straddle the bar while standing with both feet on the ground yet the seat will adjust to most any height . I did change the seat to a wider more comfortable one, other than that it has been a great bike. |
Question: | What size tires does this bike have |
Answer: | The tires on this black Suburban are 26 x 2.0 inches. Thank you. |
Question: | Where is this bike made |
Answer: | I believe in Taiwan |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the bike fold small enough to travel on an airline as checked baggage? (Transported inside a case or box |
Answer: | I just ordered one and will try to check it in for a flight to Europe. As I have time for 2 weeks to find a perfect size box that will protect the folded bike and make sure I come to the US with only carry on luggage so this will be my only bag to check-in. In case the dimensions cannot be checked in I can still ship it via USPS or courier. So we will see what I can come up with. I will be in Florida for 2 week where I would love to use it before taking it to Europe where its main use will be to load it on to the train as the regular bikes need a train ticket and the folded ones if packed in the bag are is free :) Does anybody know the exact measure of the shipping box it comes in? I would love to do some research before coming to the US for a sturdy box which could fit the checked bag dimensions hopefully. Thanks. |
Question: | I am only 5 foot tall. Could I put my feet on the pavement when stopped |
Answer: | I believe so. The seat is adjustable and the bar between the seat and handle bars loops down like a traditional woman's or girls bike allowing you to stand when stopped. |
Question: | How much does the bike weigh with fenders and rear rack? What is the frame material? Steel |
Answer: | The bike is made of aluminum. Not steel as some people say here. Only steel frame part is front fork. Even seat post is aluminum pipe. Handle bar is aluminum as well. |
Question: | hi I am 6-2 would I be able to ride this bike comfortably |
Answer: | I am 6' tall and am comfortable riding this bike. Considering that your knees should be slightly bent at the bottom of your pedal stroke, I still have sufficient seat height and handle bar adjustment to set the bike up for a taller rider. Make sure you slide the seat forward or backward so that your knee is centered over the pedal axle at the top of the pedal stroke as well. Tip the seat up or down to minimize seat pressure on your most tender parts. Tipping the seat downward in front just a bit will also tip your pelvis forward for a more comfortable ride. Balance this off with the handle bar height to reduce pressure on your hands and wrists. If the bar is too low, you will tip forward and put too much pressure on your hands and wrists... |

User questions & answers
Question: | electrical connection needed |
Answer: | The electric connection powers the screen for programs and monitoring. As well as the fan, and the plug if you want to connect your phone or iPad. The cord is long and can easily slide out of the way. |
Question: | How long does it take to assemble |
Answer: | I'm capable but not overly handy and it took me about an hour, maybe a little more. The heaviest part is the base. I just tore open the end of the box and then slid it out. To lift it would have taken two strong people. None of the other parts seemed heavy to me and I did put it together by myself. There were a couple of spots where having a second pair of hands would have helped. This was a matter of the benefit of having one person hold the piece in place while the other person did the screws rather than an issue with weight. The directions are VERY clear and all the screws and washers were shrink wrapped onto a cardboard that clearly identified them, which made the process much easier and faster too. The time involved has more to do with the number of screws and washers rather than needing to do anything complicated or confusing. My impression is that Schwinn put thought into making the assembly doable. |
Question: | What is weight limit |
Answer: | Unfortunately the user manual does limit the wright to 300 pounds. |
Question: | what does it mean 'magnetic'? is the adjustment for resistance electronic or manual |
Answer: | The adjustments are automatic from the rider's point of view. Internally, in the front of the cycle, hidden beneath the plastic casing, is a large metal flywheel attached to the pedals. Surrounding the flywheel is a metal arc that holds a series of magnets. The closer this arc comes to the flywheel, the more magnetic "pull" you have to work against - and therefore, the harder you have to pedal. Internally, in a part of the cycle you never see unless it breaks (like ours did after 4 years of hard, every day use), is a steel cable that pulls the magnets away from the flywheel making it easier to pedal, or lets the magnets drop closer, making it harder. But again - from your point of view, the system is automatic. You can set a fixed resistance, or you can select a terrain with varying up and down "hills" of resistance. Even though little magnetic gnomes are busy inside the cycle doing physics, you don't have to think about them. Hope this helps. |

Question: | Can someone tell me how far the handles are from the seat - how long do your arms have to be to use this bike |
Answer: | I dont have measurements for the reach relative distance of the seat to handles but I am 5'6 with a wingspan of 68.5 inches, the reach on here for me is perfect. My wife uses the machine too and she is 5 foot even, the bike fits her well also with no noted over extension of her arms at full exertion on the bike. I had a friend over the other day that is 6 foot and put him through a tabata on the bike and he felt that the reach was just fine also. User questions & answers
Question: | can i put an additional basket on the front |
Answer: | The original Question-Asker no longer needs an answer; but other readers may. Adding a basket on the front is not a problem. Bear in mind, however, that this trike steers by turning the handle bar, not by leaning, as with a bicycle. A heavy load in the front basket could make steering awkward. |
Question: | A reviewer indicated the brake was faulty, unless I misunderstood. Has anyone else had brake issues? I am a 4' 10" senior and need stability |
Answer: | Ive owned 5 of these and never had a brake problem. You need the 24 inch version rather than the 26 inch. |
Question: | What is the rider weight limit on the 26" Meridian Cruiser Tricycle |
Answer: | weight 280lb |
Question: | What is the advantage or disadvantage to a 24" VS |
Answer: | I had also wondered about this and was told that because I have low back pain it would be better to get the 24" because the handles were higher and there would be less 'reaching' bending over that I would have to do with the 26" - And I am almost 5'6" - But I've not bought one yet because I would prefer to 'check' one out first.hope this helps someone. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Any opinions on upgrading fork & most components and doing actual mtbing on this? i have the parts to upgrade everything, would frame hold up |
Answer: | I think you could upgrade but I wouldn't recommend for any heavy MTB trails. Light dirt, a few rollers, and even some hills are fine. But, while I'm impressed with the frame, it's not overly rigid and I'd be concerned about it's ability to take a beating. My wife and I ride on the roads near our house and that includes some serious climbing....it's great fun. Love the bike. Think about upgrading the derailleurs if you're doing the fork. |
Question: | Is the front bottom bracket eccentric and does allow to adjust the chain tension |
Answer: | Yes, the bottom bracket on the front crank area is eccentric. Thank you. |
Question: | What's the thickest tires i can fit on this bike? Can 27.5x2.4 tires fit on this frame |
Answer: | The tires on this tandem are 26" x 2.125". If you'd like a wider tire, we recommend checking in with your local bike shop. Thanks |
Question: | what are the dimensions for this item |
Answer: | I just purchased this bike for my son and daughter in-law. The captains seat tube is about 20" and the stocker is about 15.5". The seat post are plenty long to accommodate tall riders. I'm 6' 2" and my wife is 5' 1". My son in 6' 1" and his wife is 5' 8". This bike fits us all just fine. I did add a riser to the stem for my son and I. That made for a more upright position. This is a new purchase so I cant tell you what it feel like on a long ride but it feels real good right now. The seats are comfy for what we want to do with this bike. I think its going to make a fine hybrid tandem. My wife and I have logged over 10,000 miles on a tandem and I think this is a great bike for the money. I hope this helps. |
