12 best bmx race bikes
BMX race bikes are specialized bicycles designed for the sport of BMX (Bicycle Motocross) racing, which involves racing on a closed circuit with various obstacles and jumps. These bikes are purpose-built for speed, agility, and durability, and they differ significantly from other types of BMX bikes, such as freestyle BMX bikes.
Here are some key characteristics and features of BMX race bikes:
Frame: BMX race bikes typically have lightweight, aluminum frames to maximize speed and agility. The frames are designed to be strong and stiff, allowing riders to transfer power efficiently.
Wheel Size: BMX race bikes feature smaller wheels than most other types of bicycles. The standard wheel size for BMX racing is 20 inches, which provides quick acceleration and maneuverability.
Tires: The tires on BMX race bikes are narrower and have a lower profile than those on freestyle BMX bikes. This design reduces rolling resistance and increases speed.
Gearing: BMX race bikes have a single-speed drivetrain with a gear ratio chosen to optimize acceleration and top speed on the racetrack. The chainring and rear cog are selected based on the rider's preference and the track's characteristics.
Brakes: BMX race bikes often have a rear-only brake or no brakes at all. This minimalistic brake setup is designed to reduce weight and interference during racing.
Fork: The front fork of a BMX race bike is rigid and lacks suspension. This ensures direct power transfer and precise handling.
Handlebars: BMX race bikes feature lightweight, narrow handlebars that allow riders to maintain a low, aerodynamic position while racing.
Pedals: Pedals on BMX race bikes are typically flat and designed for maximum power transfer. They may have pins or spikes to help keep the rider's feet securely in place.
Seat: The seat on a BMX race bike is minimalistic and lightweight, as riders spend most of their time standing while racing.
Weight: BMX race bikes are designed to be as lightweight as possible while still maintaining strength and durability. This is crucial for quick acceleration and maneuvering.
Suspension: BMX race bikes do not have suspension systems, as the tracks are typically smooth and don't require shock absorption.
Geometry: The geometry of BMX race bikes is tuned for high-speed stability and quick handling. The steep head angle and short wheelbase contribute to their agile nature.
Safety Gear: Riders of BMX race bikes wear protective gear, including a full-face helmet, gloves, long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and knee and shin guards.
BMX race bikes are used for competitive racing on purpose-built tracks, where riders compete against each other in heats or races. The bikes are customized to suit the rider's preferences and racing style, with adjustments made to components like the gearing, handlebars, and seat height. These bikes are built for speed, making BMX racing an exciting and adrenaline-filled sport.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you pedal backwards or is the crank a brake |
Answer: | The top tube for this model is 21.26" on it. We suggest a rider height of 5'6" to 6' for this size. Thank you! |
Question: | Is it good for going to a skatepark |
Answer: | i recommend the composite pedals, odds are the 9/16 threads if its three piece or two piece cranks. |
Question: | can pegs be attached to the back wheels |
Answer: | The term "fixie" implies that the pedals will continue to move either forward or backward with the rear wheel's direction, whether or not the child is actually pedaling. So technically it is NOT a fixie, but a "freewheel," which means that when the child stops pedaling, they can coast without the pedals continuing to turn. If you mean is it a single gear in the back, then yes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What size should I choose if I’m six feet tall |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | What is the length of the top tube |
Answer: | This is a bmx Race bike more than a trick/park bike, its not really ment to have pegs |
Question: | What's the Size is the front sprocket |
Answer: | Im 218pds and bought this bike back in feb 2019 and its been awesome, its way lighter than i thought it would be (compared to a $1200 ssquared 24") i did have to replace the forks with some snafu forks because they bent out (swept forward) after hitting the pro set at my local track so i went ahead and replaced the bars as well with some s&m bars. other than that it is a amazing bike, we have 3 of them now a junior for my son, a pro xl for my daughter and this cruiser for myself. |
Question: | Does the bike also have pedal brakes |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these hubs have grease in them, and the crank |
Answer: | Just weighed: I have it at 23.4 pounds. It's nice and light, and just a sweet ride. |
Question: | What size is rear axle |
Answer: | No |
Question: | Is it really 24 pounds |
Answer: | I'm 6'1". I think if you put much lower bars like 2.5" rise and something like a 40mm reach stem, then it might be a better fit. Someone who is 5'5" is probably too big for a mini-cruiser, and a tad small for this bike. The top tube is 21.75. Compare that to what he's used to on a 20". Also, Amazon won't advertise this, but much of this bike is made in China. I'm trying to avoid *anything* made in China. Corona virus came to the US through the US. |
Question: | My front tire wont hold air. Can i het a new front tire |
Answer: | You can pedal backwards |
