Answer:	It is mediocre for warm weather; thicker than an average sock, but not as thick as most of the outdoor or hiking socks I have owned before. I wear them around the house instead of slippers.

Answer:	no...it's just pulled tight because the zipper is all the way up..no drawstring..so if your child does not like it zipped all the way up..the hood might not stay up....i liked the look of the jacket..I just did not like that feature...
