Answer:	Only if the canales have holes in them to use the hanging hook or separately sold installation kit. If not, then this would require a custom solution, which some people have fashioned in the past.
Question:	can these be combined if you have more than 8.5 feet of drop? What is the maximum lentgh
Answer:	This serves as a downspout for a gutter. If you don't have a gutter, you should normally not need this. But if you have rain water falling freely from a roof edge, and it is concentrated at one spot, you could attach this rain chain there to reduce the splattering.
Question:	Does this one attach to canales, the roof drains for flat roofs
Answer:	It's about 3 in on top and 2.5 on sides. I was going to post a picture but I couldn't. It's a nice rain chain, captures the rain flow.

Answer:	You don't have to get the 'gutter attachment' piece to install the rain chain, but I got it and I think it gives the rain chain a more finished, professional look (rather than just having a hole in the gutter). It only costs about $15.00. See my photo in my review of the gutter attachment.

Answer:	Yes, you need a gutter. Yes, a valley is too much water...unless it's a very gentle rain. When it rains hard, even with the gutter, it takes a drain guide to make it come straight down the chain. It is a wonderful rain chain. I love it! But it should be hung properly with an attachment at the bottom to hold it steady.

Answer:	These are only sold in 8.5 foot lengths. Sorry, we don't have the ability to customize. But if you are handy you can buy two and make one single 11' chain, which is done frequently. It would require cutting and re-soldering.

Answer:	You would need to order an 8’6” and a 3’ chain. They don’t come longer than 8’6” anymore.

Answer:	You will have to secure the copper wire to the house/roof in some way. If you can do that where the rain runs off then you will be good. We live in Florida and this rain chain works amazing in high rains. I do have it attached to a rock on the ground so it dosent sway in the wind. I would also suggest you do this. You can get a piece of copper wire at your Lowes or Home Depot store.

Answer:	Yes, this is the normal patina process for copper. Eventually it will be very brown and even green. This is usually something that people desire, however, if you do not desire this effect, you may be better off with an aluminum style.

Question:	I really want to put these up. But as I read it seems one has to leave the large white drain spouts on the house? Do these chains substitute for the horrible white spouts? Before I invest in several for the front of the house, can I take down the large white spouts? Thks for your time MM
Answer:	I was having new gutters installed and ordered the Rain Chain Gutter Installers. They turned out to be too wide to fit the new 5-inch gutters. The gutter installer told me to take a couple of the spikes that attached the old gutters to the eaves, cut the heads off and lay them in the bottom of the gutter, passing them through the top of the rain chain. Free, simple and effective. He also said that the through bolts on the commercial adapters block too much of the opening and cause clogs when leaves fall through.

Answer:	Sorry...cannot rate this issue as I have not yet experienced torrential downpour that might cause splashing but even in a hard rain, shouldn't be a problem as the rainchain is not close to the walls of the house.

Answer:	You can hang it up, but it would most likely be more of a decoration than a rain chain. The gutter guides the rainwater into a chain (and into a barrel, if you have one). Without a gutter, unless you get really torrential downpours, it wouldn't collect much rain water

Answer:	For the most part it follows the chain. If it is a very heavy rain the water will spill out of the cups but still follow the chain.

Answer:	Simple solution is to tie fish line around a rock. We decided to purchase a downspout splash from Home Depot, fastened a eye hook to the top portion and secured the rain chain with fish line.

Answer:	no the chain drains do not replace the drain spouts, the chain drains are supported and inserted in the down spouts. if you don't like the color of your down spouts now is the time to change them but that will add a lot more labor removing the old and replacing with the new. aren't your drain spouts the same color as your gutters?

Answer:	What funnels the water to the place you want to attach the "Bronze Cascading Leaves"? If the rain water isn't directed to the decorative down spout, I'm not sure if it will do anything for you regarding displacement of water, but it still would look pretty. Not sure how you would attach it to the edge of your roof.

We're in Monsoon now so am hoping we'll see some rain shortly so I can see exactly how it will work. But it is beautiful and I would buy it again if I find the need for another. The splatter won't be any different than the rain falling straight down from the sky and hitting the ground so I'm good with it.
