User questions & answers
Question: | Is the grill low or high pressure |
Answer: | there is no low/high theres regulator to grill can hooked to propane tank if buy right kind hose and bottles.. although i have it for 5 years still works worth while |
Question: | Does each burner have its own variable heat control |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Does this grill come with the gas cylinder hook-up hose |
Answer: | No. However, Amazon sells several hose adapters to connect the grill's regulator to a 20# propane tank. If you ever have to replace the regulator, know that there are TWO regulators listed as "compatible" with the Roadtrip LX (model 9941-455) grill: part #9942-5251 (snap-on) or #9942A5251 (thread on). Be certain you order the correct one from a site like ereplacementparts.com (nobody seems to be selling them on Amazon, unfortunately) since even the Coleman.com website fails to offer them. |
Question: | Is this grill blue |
Answer: | Yes it is blue. Makeven you follows instructions.. will enjoy safe and good food cooking |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there accessory hangers on the grill? I don't see any like on previous versions |
Answer: | They upgraded the burner but something as simple as utensil hangers, they took off. |
Question: | will the pan adapters that fit the LXE road trip grills fit this unit |
Answer: | I'm not absolutely sure. I made a mistake, thanks to Amazon's "Click-to Order" feature. I mistakenly ordered the "Road Trip 285" instead of the "LXE." I received them both , but returned the "Road Trip" model. However, when I had them here, they looked the same in size to me. except for some differences in the stand. a 3rd burner and the way the side shelves were integrated, they looked virtually the same. Hope this helps. |
Question: | How do you clean out grease |
Answer: | I put 16 ounces of water in the drip pan. After cooking, I dump the water and wipe the drip pan with paper towels. The BBQ is designed to prevent grease from dripping on burners. So far this design has worked for me. |
Question: | how much does it weigh in comparison to the other coleman portable grills |
Answer: | There really isn't much differance in weight to be concerned with. The main feature that made my decision is the aluminium folding transport-stand and the 3 burner 20,000 BTU grill. After using the grill I found the removalable grease pan made the grill exceptionable. Easy to remove the cast iron grill plates and grease pan for cleaning. Truly a great design with functionality. Staring the grill with three burners on it is ready to sear steaks, burgers and sausage in a few short minutes. Very happy with the operation, cleaning and transportability. I purchased the braid stainless steel hose to have the option to use a 20 lb propane cylinder. I tried both a propane bottle & 20 lb cylinder both work great. I use it at home and package it up to use with the travel trailer. I rate the Coleman Roadtrip 285 as a Five ++ Star Purchase. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference between the coleman xnt and the colman |
Answer: | size is usually the key. 225 is smaller but works just fine for me. |
Question: | How difficult to assemble |
Answer: | Very easy. It has all the tools you need with it. Took maybe 10 min. |
Question: | Can you add a thermometer to this model |
Answer: | I don't think so. I've used mine for a year on 8 camping trips. I have never had the need for a thermometer. Take note it doesn't get as hot as your grill at home. I just keep an eye on it with a cold beer and all is good. |
Question: | Is there something to catch grease dripping out of the bottom |
Answer: | Yes. The drip pan is the circular pan under the open part of the grill grate. No drippings get into the bottom of the grill at all. It's made so you can add water to prevent flare up's from drippings. It's also easily removed for cleaning. This is a nice little grill. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be adapted to a hard gas line |
Answer: | No. |
Question: | What is the inside clearance, from the grill to the underside of the cover |
Answer: | That would be 4” |
Question: | where is the propane located |
Answer: | The regulator is in the back. You can either use a green propane tank or a hose |
Question: | Could this be used indoors? Or on a wood table |
Answer: | Yes it can be used indoors, but that is not recommended by Coleman (for liability reasons). This is no more (or less) dangerous than a natural gas stove top in the home. (And perhaps 30% of homes in the USA have a natural gas stove top rather than an electric coil or electric induction stove top). Natural gas and liquid propane gas are always odorized so you can smell unburned gas, or a gas leak. That would be the primary additional danger in terms of using it inside, installing and removing LP fuel bottles. When I do that, sometimes the seals are poor, and the valves sticky on the bottles, and you can hear gas hissing out of the bottle until you get it all the way cranked (screwed) down into the regulator. So, I would say you could use it inside, but I would change the fuel bottles outside, or on the balcony in an apartment, just realize the inherent risk of using gas inside (carbon dioxide). But again, you have this EXACT SAME risk if you have a home with a natural gas stove and oven that is not externally vented (about 1/3 of installation are not externally vented). |

User questions & answers
Question: | My guess is... It will need to be cured with heat and cooking oil like any cast iron product. Am I right |
Answer: | Anything with a porcelain coating is NOT true cast iron in the way most of us think that must be "seasoned" or "cured". Coleman is not using the correct language in my opinion. It should be called out as porcelain coated cast iron. That is not cast iron like what your grandma made pancakes on-it lasts a short time compared to true seasoned cast iron. With this the porcelain chips off and then the so called " cast iron" becomes exposed and starts to rust and flake sticking to YOUR food! It happens on most grills-big or small. All the sudden you bite down and "ouch" or "ick". |
Question: | made of the highest quality materials" what exactly are those materials? are they cast iron? porcelain? unicorn dust |
Answer: | I have purchased 3 sets of "OEM" replacements for a 12 year old grill. Not a single one is the glossy porcelain cast iron like the originals. Some have been cheap aluminum that flakes off on first use. The rest are cast iron with a dull Teflon coating. I want the true, original porcelain cast iron plates that lasted 12 years. |
Question: | Is this the same orginial that comes with roadtrip lxx? is it cast iron, where it rusts easily with water use |
Answer: | The Griddle and the Grill are NOT the same as the original, despite the item description. The Griddle is porcelain coated, shiny, mostly non-stick and won't rust. The Grill (with slots) is cast iron, heavier than the original, very porous, needs to be seasoned and treated like a cast iron pan to prevent rust. |
Question: | Will the lid on the lxe/lxx close while the griddle is being used |
Answer: | Yes. I love it and lid will close and lock |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this full size griddle fit the coleman road trip 285 griddle |
Answer: | If it is the Coleman it does and it works great |
Question: | Should the grills be removed before the griddle is put in place |
Answer: | On this griddle, the lid will not close completely with griddle in place. |
Question: | What is the advantage of this instead of using a (more versatile) double griddle on top of the grill |
Answer: | Not sure there is an advantage, would depend on how much is being cooked. We like the food cooked on the griddle instead of the rack. The one advantage that I see is there is more usable space in the full sized griddle, the double griddle with the division would decrease the space to cook on, longer foods would be harder to manage. |
Question: | Will this griddle fit the LXX model |
Answer: | Yes. I have the LXX and it fits. Just don't try to close the lid at all. Also, do not try to use the griddle if the outdoor temperature is below 60°F. The griddle cools itself down very easily and does not work well in cooler temps, especially if there is s breeze. In a walled shade shelter it might do better. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this fit the NXT grill or is there one like it that does |
Answer: | This does not fit the NXT 300. Took th handle off and it is not even close. Person above was wrong. Sending it back |
Question: | i just bought the 9949-750 with the wheels in july 2015 read some other reviews from older post said it did not fit wondering if they made a new one |
Answer: | This is the only Coleman Roadtrip Wheeled Carry case they make and it is supposed to fit either the 9941 or 9949. |
Question: | Will this bag work for the Road Trip Grill LX (Blue) (9941-768) grill? If so can it hold extra grates or griddles |
Answer: | This bag states that it fits the 9941 model ('LX' blue with the larger stand) but it doesn't. You can force the zipper shut but it just isn't right. Also, the stand is too thick so the velcro straps wont close when the grill is on the stand in the bag. I just use the bag to take the grill and accessories and carry the stand separately. |
Question: | Will this cover fit the Roadtrip LXX Model |
Answer: | This cover will only fit if you take the handle off. This is a bit of a pain to have to do every time. |
