Answer:	We bought this a few years ago and I believe the 4 ft overlap was an exaggeration, It did overhang by a foot perhaps but definitely not 4 ft. Also, we put it on late October/early November and by December we had drug it out of the pool 3x and we had followed the installation directions carefully. We finally gave up and just dealt with a dirty pool come spring. We went back to taking the pool down each year after that.

There is room in the rest of the pouch for keys, wallet, snacks, small first aid kit etc. I would estimate the spare room to be 1 liter, and that's when the 2 liter water bladder is full. Answer:	I wouldn't recommend. It is wider on bottom and narrow towards the top and not wide enough to carry binders and books. it is pretty lightweight in construction, so not recommended to carry books.
