Kids complete a scrapbook containing snapshots of their skill-building adventures--making posters, building a playground, completing a rhyming poem, and more. The software teaches important skills like pattern recognition, classifying and sorting, and addition and subtraction. There are 10 entertaining activities in all, providing hours of fun. Three adjustable levels and an automatic help feature allow for independent play. A comprehensive parent's guide is also included.

Review

This third program in the Clifford series contains nine multilevel logic, math and reading puzzles. The activities, which vary in quality, are selected by clicking on a map of Birdwell Island. A magazine is looking for some dogs to feature in their next issue, and Clifford, T-Bone and Cleo want to make a big impression. So they go about Birdwell Island helping their neighbors, earning scrapbook pictures for each completed activity. In one, they classify and sort trash in the recycling center. In another, they fix a broken playground slide by putting a series of numbers in order. Most of the games have multiple levels and offer educational experiences that go beyond the standard colors, letters and shapes. There are a few weaknesses to note. The sorting game throws too many variables at children in the early levels, the poster maker won't let you reverse your selections. This is too bad, as this could be a much stronger language experience. Finally, our testers had trouble moving a little dog through a maze. On the upside, it is easy to change levels at any time, and a child's progress is kept with a special photo album. While it's not the most exciting Clifford title (we're partial to Clifford Reading), this is a very nice addition to any school or home software library. Answer:	When I bought this for my daughter it only played well on PC's and we own apples. I expect it will work, it should, but I can't promise. It is older, if you dell is brand new it might not. What operating system are you using? I can look on the box.

This CD-ROM game is based on the award-winning I Spy book series. The game engages children with clever and colorful scenarios and builds learning skills through riddles, puzzles, and games.

Review

You may be familiar with Jean Marzallo's I Spy books full of fascinating photo collages. This electronic rendition is designed especially for younger children and uses the same visually rich graphics, with easier-to-find objects. From the first menu, children are asked to choose from six categories of puzzles: Blocks, Nature, Busy Bins, Oops Hoops, Pattern Place, and Make Your Own. The first three categories contain typical but simplified I Spy puzzles, with riddles such as "I spy turtle eyes a letter D block, three yellow buttons and a bug on a rock." The poems are read aloud, and pictures are embedded in the graphics to serve as clues. Each find is rewarded with a short animation. The next two activities, Oops Hoops and Pattern Place, are excellent exercises in logical mathematical thinking. In the Hoops game, kids have to sort objects into hoops (Venn Diagrams)- "food" in one hoop, "red things" in another and "food that's red" in the overlapping portion of the two hoops. In Pattern Place, children must put objects into a requested pattern. The final activity is a popular "Make-Your-Own" I Spy puzzle. Here, children create and print their own collage of objects. The primary weakness of this program begins to reveal itself about two hours into its testing when the same puzzles start to show up again. Because there isn't any overall plot to the program or random elements to the puzzles, children can grow tired of the format- an important concern in the home.
