Question:	Can this be used as a permanent cage for my guinea pig
Answer:	NO! The HSUS recommends 10.5 square feet for 2 guinea pigs. This cage is not that large & is only suitable for 1 pig, not 2, but of course guinea pigs should be kept in at least pairs as they are social animals. If you want 2 pigs you are better off to get 2 of these and connect them or build a C&C cage. C&Cs are not that expensive if you build them yourself (as opposed to the kits). You really need something larger for 2 or more piggies. The people keeping more than 2 pigs in just one of these are really cramping them up unfairly.
Question:	is the canvas washable
Answer:	I use this for my Hedgehog and he loves it! I folded the roof so that only the very farthest edge has a piece on it, enough to hold a heat lamp, and I also have a heating pad under one side of the cage (where the heat lamp is) so he has a nice warm place to sleep! My hedgehog is old, and completely blind (no eyes) so he doesn't try to escape at all! I also took out the divider so that he has an easier time going around the cage. It is also super easy to clean, I pick up the fleece and wipe the bottom.

Answer:	It’s long so in our cage we have extra along the side but that just makes it more snuggly and we use the extra length at the back of the cage where the holes are so our piggie feels safe and surrounded by softness.

Question:	As is the measure of each inner square
Answer:	The bottom doesn't soak anything. It's a waterproof canvas-like material. You need to line it with something to soak up the urine. We use towels for our guinea pig. We also put a layer of fleece on top of the towels. All of that can be thrown in the washing machine. For the record, we've noticed that compared to hamsters, mice, and rats--all we've had experience with--guinea pigs have just about no smell.

Answer:	At first we used disposable puppy training pads, but found that too be very costly (cage is 8 sq ft). Then I bought a stack of fleece of the appropriate size (at $1.97 a yard at Walmrt. Double layered). Every evening we replace the fleece by taking it outside, shaking it out, and putting it in a special basket. When the basket is full (about every 5-6 days), we launder the fleece.

Answer:	I used it as a permanent cage, but it was hard to clean. I have since changed to a different cage which is just as hard to clean. Guinea pigs are such a mess!

Answer:	Not really, but I’m not sure what the instructions said. They are so messy. I’ve tried everything and there is no way around the mess other than training them to go potty in one place. I never did. I do like this cage, though. I just dump all the bedding and poop, then hose it down and scrub it.
