Answer:	I don't see any suction cups looks like it hooks on top then there is a long tube that stretches down into the water.
Question:	i recieved item but i don't see how you can hang it on the inside of a tank. It did not come with anything to hang in with. Is that item separate
Answer:	It hangs on the back of the tank on the rim. The only part that is inside the tank is the uptake tube w/ motor. The large "square" part is outside the tank.There is a leveling "dial" on the bottom of the box, so that the filter is straight up-and-down with the tank. These are wonderful filters that do the job and run very quiet!

Answer:	Yes it does, and is supper easy to put together.

Answer:	No, it will not, Ashley. If you mouse over the photo and see a magnified image, look for the name Aqueon on the product. Right below that name is a "line" or a seam. Water level must be above that seam, or it draws air, rather than water from the downtube or (inlet pipe). So while the inlet pipe may reach your water level, the pump will not lift the water up to the filter. Note, if you put silicon sealant on this seam and where the tube goes, it may work; just let the sealant dry for more than a day, so it "degasses" to the point where it looses that solvent or chemical odor, so it doesn't harm your creatures. Remember, the higher the fall of water back into your tank, the louder the sound is going to be. Some people don't mind it and even like it, but most will find it more than noticeable.

Answer:	Absolutely not. I bought this filter for a small temporary tank with only 4 inches of water in it for my hatchling. I don’t know your set up, but turtles are messy and require 2-3 times the filtration power of fish. I went to a 30 gallon high tank, filled it 90% and ordered an aquaclear 70 filter; they’re among the very best. It filters 300 gallons an hour, over kill, but you can adjust it to half that without burning out the motor. Can be used in turtle tanks

Step 1

Remove all packaging and attach strainer (and extension tubes, if necessary) so that strainer will be no closer than 2" to aquarium gravel once the system is hanging on aquarium frame.

Step 2

Hang system on aquarium frame. Be sure aquarium water is at or above the minimum water level indicated on system's motor assembly.

Step 3

Once system is properly in place, plug filtration system into outlet being sure to average a drip loop with the power cord.

Question:	My hood opening is 7 inches wide. Will this filter fit in that space? My tank is a 10 gallon however I want a better filter
Answer:	The light and reflector sit on top of an open part of the tank. On the front side of the tank the top of the wall juts inward several inches. On the back side of the tank there is an acrylic platform that is about 4" wide (which is meant to hold the back end of your light/relecter, then there is about another open 4-6 inches where you can insert your filter/pump, cords and tubing, thermometer, decorations etc or use it as the opening to feed you fish - other wise you'll have to remove the entire hood each time you need to feed your fist or mess with the tank. I think there is so much acrylic on the top of the tank to give stability to the tank. IF you were to remove the crummy light/reflector (as many of us have) you'll leave a very open space where something could craw or jump out. Instead, I added an LED light set that hooks on the outer edges of the length of my tank - so for your 40 gallon you would want LED lights 36" or longer. They have metal brackets on each end to allow it to sit on top of your tank. It won't be in the water but it is still an electrical hazard plus if you have filters or any bubblers running the they will spit water at the light. I've had mine this way for about a month with no problems. Mine do leave enough space where I can feed my fish without having to take the lights off (so it's enough space for an lucky fish to jump out - but probably not tempting enough for them to try. If you want to put anything in the aquarium you'll have to take off the lights temporarily and decorate, clean etc.
Question:	Is there a way to reduce the suction power? Too strong for small fish. Sucked them right up
Answer:	The hood has a light fixture, but no bulb. I got a 24” T8 17 watt bulb for planted tanks at Petco and it worked despite the fact that there was a little slip of paper in the box that stated that the hood would only take a particular brand of bulb. I couldn’t find the recommended bulb brand so I went with a $15 fluorescent bulb meant for planted aquariums while I wait for my Finnex 24/7 to come in.
Question:	Do I need a water pump if I have this filter
Answer:	What is unique about this aquarium is that usually you have to put on a backsplash yourself (usually black or colbalt or some crazy design) this aquarium has one whole acrylic panel that is a solid color (or left clear). If you are setting the aquarium in the middle of the room, get the clear, if it's going up against a wall pick one of the two colors = it gives the fish some security having those dark colors behind them. I personally chose the black and it's lovely. I'm sure the blue is great too but my tank decorations matched the black background better. The kind of background you put on yourself is a pain to do - there are always pockets of air or it starts slipping down - at least the adhesive made for them doesn't permanently stick so you can always remove it and try again. But to have one panel exactly the color you need is one of the many reasons this tank costs more than a glass tank.
Question:	Do I need an air pump if I have this filter
Answer:	length x width x height divided by 231=46.75324 and so on. By the time you put any substrate, rocks, etc. you will have even less. No a true 50 gallon in a sense.

Answer:	If you have condensation it could run down the plug and into the outlet causing damage. You should ensure enough slack in the line to let gravity drip any tank condensation off before it gets to your outlet. Basically, don't let water go into your outlet or it's your problem, no additional parts needed.

Question:	Is it really loud? I already had to get rid of one filter brand because it was so noisy
Answer:	As long as you maintain your filter properly, the filter remains reasonably quiet. You do not need to change the impeller as often as one person commented. I have multiple AC 110’s for years and never had to replace the impeller at all. I have been using AquaClear filters for many years. When you maintain your filter, rinse the impeller off. Do not use anything abrasive or it will compromise its proper function by throwing it off balance as it spins during operation.
Question:	Will the 110 fit on over the 1-1/4" tank edge of my 70 gal tank
Answer:	13 1/2"L X 6 3/4"W X 9"H with 4" of its width behind the tank.
Question:	do you need to replace the filter media in time, and if so, how expensive is the whole kit
Answer:	Doesn't anybody read instructions? Change carbon filter after 1 month, change sponge after 2 months, change biofilter (little ceramic donuts) after 3 months. Never change more than one filter at a time which is impossible if you read their system - so at least 2 out of 3 times a month you'd be changing 2 filters. Charcoal filters should be changed monthly - they should also be removed if you are adding medication to the tank or it will soak up/deactivate medications. Personally I think you clean the sponge very well as needed - NO soap- just clean water, same with the donuts. Perhaps having you change so many filters so often is quite the moneymaking deal but not good for fish.
Question:	Would the 110 be overkill for a 36 gal goldfish tank? Would the 100 work just as well
Answer:	I run (2) 110's on a 90 gallon tank of exotic goldfish. That means I'm running 1000 gallons an hour through the filters on high. I've raised exotic goldfish for 50 years - goldfish are the DIRTIEST fish there are. They produce more ammonia than any other fish. These filters work great. I have some mini's - now called the 20's - which I have had for 35 + years, and they still run as well as the day I bought them. I ONLY USE AquaClear. Best filter out there! They last forever because there are no moving parts to break. There is only a magnetic impeller. In 50 years, I've only had to replace one intake tube that broke, and it was my fault! I tried a canister filter once, and quickly went back to my Hagen AquaClears. Easier to use, and as big as they are, you can use any kind of media in them that you want to use. You cannot go overkill on filtration for goldfish.

FAQs For Installation and Maintenance

1. Minimum water level - Make sure that the water in your Aquarium completely covers the Aqueon logo on the front of the motor. The water should be where the red line is shown on the picture. If the water is not above the minimum water level your filter may become noisy or stop working.

2. Monthly Maintenance: Check inside the motor. Pull out the impeller and bushings (included in models 50 and 75 only) and clean out any build-up or debris on the impeller and in the impeller chamber that may jam the impeller. Remember to replace your filter cartridge(s) once a month and rinse them before use.

The first thing to check is the water level. Make sure that the water in your tank completely covers the Aqueon logo on the front of the motor. The water should be where the red line in shown on the picture below.

My QuietFlow has stopped working, what can I do?

What to do when the LED Indicator Light is blinking?

This light serves as a reminder to check the cleanliness of your filter cartridge. How it works is when water cannot pass through the cartridge as a result of it being dirty it will be forced around it. This will cause the water level in the main filter body to rise hitting the LED sensor causing the LED to flash. Once you replace your cartridge the LED should stop blinking and your job is done.

1. If the cartridge is new, the fibers may be a little tight and not allowing all the water to pass through. You can loosen the cartridge fibers by either placing the cartridge between your hands and rub your hands together or you can use your fingers to gently pull at the fibers to loosen a bit.

2. Keep in mind that the carbon in the cartridge is good for about 4-6 weeks, then it must be replaced.

3. If it’s not time to replace the cartridge, it may be covered with debris (food, waste, algae, etc.) and you can rinse it in between the times you replace it.

Answer:	Yes yes you can. That little black bump on the output nozzle is a cap, removing that exposes the hose fitting. You can attach a airline hose to it, both powered or unpowered will work.
