Either way, here's the information you're looking for: KONG makes these toys in several different varieties of durability. There is one for puppies and one for seniors. Then the red one is the "average" one and the most common. And the black one is what this product is, the Extreme KONG. It's for "power chewers", dogs who tend to tear up all plush toys and also destroy many rubber toys. The compound is simply more durable. I have found that the GoughNuts toys with the yellow dot are fantastic. And they have a LIFETIME GUARANTEE and are also available here on Amazon.
