They lay on their side w/me kneeling next to them to trim their nails. With my biggest dog (German Shepherd), I trim the nails on the feet on the paws she's laying on, then have her lay on her other side to do the same thing on the other 2 paws. Answer:	Yes they do have a stop and they work GREAT! Just used them for the first time this past Saturday on "my owner" and he did not even flinch. Answer:	you just place it in the middle (i know it moves), and then when you put the dog's nail in there, it can only go so far and not passed that point....the first and only time i used it, i was still hesitant, so really i just cut a little bit of the nail off, not knowing if the 'stop' would be too far or not.....i think if it's your first time, you must determine how long the nail is, and if you put the dogs nail in there and you think the 'stop' is too close to the point where you're gonna hurt the dog, you pull back.....i think the 'stop' will work only if the nails are really long.....but i totally agree that there should be some instructions for us novices......hope this helps.........good luck!

Answer:	It has sizing guards for small and medium dogs that sort of do that, but not a guard like the scissor style. That said, since it's more like sanding (think using an emory board on your own nails), it's easy to stop grinding well before you reach the quick.

Answer:	I think this is better than the pedipaws where you constantly have to buy refills. My dog has thick nails and it works pretty good.
Question:	How do you know how much to grind off
Answer:	Some dog nails are translucent so you can see where the soft inner part stops, don't grind into that part. If their nails are totally opaque it's more complicated, but if you look at the underside of a dog toenail you should see the cuppy hollow part that dirt gets trapped in, my rule of thumb is that all of that hollow part is safe to grind off. Stop and check it out if they flinch though, no need to take risks.

Answer:	I purchased these for use with my 4 rabbits. From 4lbs to 6.5 lbs. I think they work well. Good grip. As long as you can get the locking mechanism to open all the way the clippers work well. I don't use the guard because the nails are so small, but I think this works quite well.

1)Test size fit or not: Try on the nail cap without glue to ensure a proper snug fit.

2) Make sure fur and claws are separated.

3)Trim dog nails and leave sufficient claw surface for the glue to adhere properly.

4)Fill each nail cap a little glue, only glue the nail part(about 1/3 of the cap), wait till half dried, then slide the cap on. (Please be careful and avoid dropping glue on your hands or your dog’s fur, if you do, remove it with use nail varnish remover or dispergator immediately. ) 5) Observe your dog for 5min and you're done!

But, I have no idea if they have modified the formula (ingredients). Best of luck. :)

As a medical technologist familiar with coag factors and a microbiologist familiar with, well microorganisms, I was surprised at how well and how fast it worked. If you hear from a doctor let me know what he thinks. I don't know if it works for those lacking coag factor VIII or IX.
