Answer:	I would go based on chest width. The coat runs a little small so ensuring a good chest fit would be the starting place. The way it is designed a bit of extra length won't interfere with your pup's bathroom activities. Also please be aware that in the description of the item you can read all the sizes at once. I used the description rather than the picture to get the best fit.
Question:	I have a Bischon at 15.5 pounds. What size
Answer:	Once you get used to it it is not too difficult but it is not easy like my dog's hoodies and sweaters. The neck has a Velcro closing, one arm hole is permanent while the other must be made by a longer Velcro closing along the side. My min pin loves to wear clothes and helps me dress him. I almost sent the coat back because of this challenge putting it on. After the first time it became easier and is a great product. It keeps him warm, is water resistant (not waterproof), reversible and is a perfect fit. My dog loves this coat. He gets lots of compliments when he wears it. Actually the awkward design is really very clever because it allows a perfect fit and can be adjusted for your dog's comfort. The neck closing is so important especially in rain and snow and by being adjustable you can keep your dog warm and dry. The side Velcro is also smart because it adjusts to your dog's girth and helps with the placement of the length. I love this coat and recommend it. It is worth the extra effort of learning how to put it on the first time.

Question:	Help! can't figure sizes needed for 2 dogs. first has 15" length, 12" neck and 20" chest. second has 17" back, 13" neck and 21" chest. suggestions
Answer:	they do run a bit small. I bought one of each size because I have multiple dogs. I have two Golden's so I bought the Large for a 70 pound dog and X-Large for a 90 pound dog and they fit great. They should be a little snug but keep in mind that they do run a little smaller. I would say they do not run a whole size smaller though.

Answer:	I think it's the same principal that Temple Grandin used to calm down cows and herself (she had autism). It applies light pressure to the chest, stomach, and back of the dog. We ordered it, after noticing that placing a wet and heavy towel on our Bernese Mtn. Dog calmed him down. The Thundershirt though, calms him immediately and doesn't get everything wet!! It's a great buy!! We don't use it everyday....only when he seems under stress (constant panting, destructive behavior, pacing).

Answer:	No hole, but “hood” (seems like a useless effort for style, when the hood is only for looks and scares dog if it falls over eyes!), is attached with snaps, so a collar would be accessible but not a harness if needed down further on back. I’m sure you could make a little cut in the coat where needed, as it doesn’t seem like a raveling kind of fabric!

Answer:	My Havanese is 13lb. 8 oz., so I ordered an x-small. I am returning it because I could barely get it to close - just an inch or so overlap at the neck and belly attachment spots, with lots of uncovered black velcro showing. I am going to try a size small, but haven't received it yet. He really likes to wear it, so I think it feels good to him. I bought it on a dog behaviorist's recommendation to address his general fear/anxiety issues which have resulted in some nipping.
