| Answer: | Looks like your question got chopped off here a little. But I am assuming you have to take the bottom lock nut off to refill since the top won't unscrew for you. If that top loop part won't come off. . .it must be defective, perhaps got tightened too much at the factory or when they painted the top, the screw part got solidified to the base. Mine unscrewed easily enough from the start, no issues. Maybe you can return and get a new one, which is what I would do. But you could also try inserting a long screwdriver (or anything similar) through that loop and try twisting with that extra leverage, but at the risk of damaging the feeder. You can always contact the seller or manufacturer and ask them what course of action they would recommend. |

| Answer: | Well, what I did was buy the Stokes 12" hanging hook, then hung the feeder and the hook to a loop of rope that was tied around a pine tree branch. You can adjust the length of the rope so that it is a convenient height to lift off the feeder and fill it. In case you are curious, the bear came back again and this time destroyed the feeder. So, now I use a small tray that hangs from the hook and the rope and is emptied every day by the birds and squirrels. When the bear comes at night, the tray is empty and he doesn't bother it.
