3 best cat repellent indoors

Cat repellents for indoor use are products designed to discourage cats from certain areas or behaviors within your home. They can be useful in preventing cats from scratching furniture, marking territory, or accessing prohibited areas. Here's what you should know about indoor cat repellents:

  1. Spray Repellents: Spray repellents are one common type of indoor cat repellent. These products typically come in a spray bottle and contain natural or synthetic substances that cats find unpleasant. When sprayed on surfaces or areas you want to protect, they deter cats from approaching or interacting with those spaces.

  2. Scent-Based Repellents: Many indoor cat repellents work by emitting scents that cats dislike. These scents are usually unnoticeable or very mild to humans but are effective at deterring cats. Common scents used in these products include citrus, lavender, or bitter apple.

  3. Ultrasonic Repellents: Ultrasonic cat repellents emit high-frequency sounds that are irritating to cats but are typically inaudible to humans. These devices can be placed in areas where you want to deter cats, such as near potted plants or furniture.

  4. Motion-Activated Repellents: Motion-activated cat repellents use sensors to detect a cat's movement and respond with a deterrent, such as a burst of air, a sudden noise, or a spray of water. These devices can be effective at discouraging cats from approaching specific areas.

  5. Training Aids: Some indoor cat repellents are designed to aid in training. For example, you can use them to teach your cat to avoid certain areas or behaviors. Positive reinforcement training, in conjunction with repellents, can be effective in modifying your cat's behavior.

  6. Proper Application: To use indoor cat repellents effectively, read and follow the product's instructions carefully. It's important to apply them to the specific areas or surfaces you want to protect, ensuring even coverage.

  7. Safety Considerations: Ensure that any repellent you use is safe for both your cat and your household members. Check the ingredients and avoid using anything that could harm your cat or pets. Consult with your veterinarian if you have concerns.

  8. Consistency: Consistency is key when using cat repellents. Reapply as needed according to the product's instructions. Over time, your cat may learn to avoid the areas treated with repellent.

  9. Positive Reinforcement: While using repellents to deter unwanted behaviors, it's essential to provide positive reinforcement when your cat behaves appropriately. Reward them with treats, praise, or affection when they use a scratching post or avoid prohibited areas.

  10. Consulting a Professional: If you're having difficulty with specific cat behavior issues, consider consulting a professional animal behaviorist or veterinarian for guidance on using repellents effectively and addressing underlying causes of the behavior.

In summary, indoor cat repellents can be useful tools for training and preventing unwanted behaviors in cats. Whether you opt for scent-based sprays, ultrasonic devices, or motion-activated deterrents, it's important to use these products consistently and in conjunction with positive reinforcement training to encourage appropriate behavior in your feline companion.

Question: Can this be sprayed on lamp and phone cords
Answer: Yes
Question: Can this be used on leather furniture

User questions & answers

Question: Can i use this on my hands and arms? I have a biting kitten that is not deterred by anything
Answer: Tanya, That is an interesting question. In theory Harbor’s Cat Repellent and Trainer should repel your kitten from you and hopefully stop the biting if you spray your arms and hands. The ingredients are safe for you and your kitten. However, every time you washed or wiped your hands you would remove the spray. Also, anything you touch while you had the spray on your hand would then become repulsive to your kitten. Plus….as noted by answers from many of the other questions…. you would walk around with a very pleasant citrus smell. As much as I would like you to try our cat repellent and trainer, I am not sure it would ultimately accomplish what you want. Please contact me via seller messaging portion of Amazon if you have any additional questions or concerns. Thank you for posting your question. Mark Davisball Worldwide
Question: I want to keep a cat out of my closet. If I spray the floor area in front of the door will this stop her from going in
Answer: This is an interesting question? I have purchased 2-bottled of this stuff. And I just love it...and it really works. I have used in on my couch/bed and it works great. This product has a very nice orange smell. A little strong at first but the smell goes away quickly by the next day leaving the room smelling fresh. It is safe on wood floors, carpet, furniture and cloths. Soooo, I would think that you could spray the floor under the shoes. But do it really well. A another quick spray over your shoes. And then in front of the door about two 12 inches out spray that area also. Make sure your kitty sees you spray the area. You will have to do this a couple of times a month to keep the kitty away and knows not to go inside. In addition, to back this up... keep a small bottle of water with a sprayer close by and when you see the kitty in the closet, give your kitty a quick spray. This will also reinforce the new rules of the house. Good Luck R
Question: I want to keep my cat away from my Christmas tree, will this work
Answer: Zachary, Thank you for the great question. Harbor’s is an excellent cat repellent and should work to keep your cat out of your Christmas tree. For day-to-day applications, we instruct everyone to use 3-4 pumps per application and apply 3 times per day for the first week.  However, for a Christmas tree, I would recommend you start by applying to the tree blanket, base of the tree and the first couple of layers of branches. Each cat is unique and one application might work for yours…or you may need to apply multiple times per day for several days until your cat is discouraged from your Christmas tree. If you are not satisfied, we offer a 100%, no question asked refund policy. Also, we try to offer the best customer service possible. Also, I see that there are already several responses to your question from current users of Harbor’s Cat Repellent.  Please follow their first-hand advice. I hope you will consider using Harbor’s cat repellent. If you have questions or problems with the product, please reach out to me and I will assist in any way I can.  Mark Davisball Worldwide
Question: Is this safe to spray on a leather couch
Answer: I don’t know if it’s safe, I have a fabric couch. However, it didn’t work to repel my cats!
