| Answer: | I don't think you should ever flush clay-based litter, clumping or not. It is heavy and sinks to the bottom of traps, etc., instead of dissolving and flushing through. You're supposed to be able to flush some corn, pea, "tofu", wood and paper pellet type litters, but, based on my experience, even with non-clay types, I'd only flush a very small amount at a time, like, say the amount that clings to feces, rather than large urine clumps. |

I have 6 of these systems for 4 cats and have had the system in use for over 5 years. I am hands down more satisfied with this system than clumping litter (messy), crystals (messy) and pine pellets (really messy). This system keeps down odor and after doing the math, it appears to be more expensive but actually is less expensive not to mention much easier on the human servants that have to do the work ;). If you can source Zeolite from a farm supply in pieces large enough not to fall through the screen, go for it! It is an inexpensive material except when you have to purchase it this way. Some people also clean it and reuse it after drying. It works, I have tried it but it is a bit of a pain. Now if we could find a great pad subsititute for less $$... |

| Answer: | I've been using the Fresh Step "Simply Unscented" cat litter ever since my cats were 8 weels old They are now both 11 and a half and have used it all these years and will use it for hopefully another 11 and a half years. BUT like you I wondered ULTRAUNSCENTED which to me sounded like it was even more unscented then the "Simply Unscented" I've been using but how could that even be seeing as the Simply Unscented really has not smell to it at all. So I bought a box of the Ultra Unscented and I was totally disappointed and curious about why it was that this product actually smelled perfumie. So I never used it again and have and will stick to the Simply unscented. I don't know if I would get into trouble if I come out and say anything about the pricing of this product on here but the amount (pounds per box) and the price of it is not a good deal on here !!! |

| Answer: | When I pour this out I do smell something I have used this the "ultra unscented" and the simply unscented and I smell less of whatever smells are in this litter than the "ultra" you would think this would be reverse but is not. I have used this litter for my two cats now for over 11 years and I have always used the unscented and have never had any problems whats so ever PLUS over the past few years they (fresh step) actually has make this a "low dust" litter compared to what it was like before and I know personally they have made there litter low dust because before they did after dumping the litter in the cat box the hairs in my nose would be white with the dust I was breathing in and since they changed it to low dust that doesn't happen any more |

| Answer: | It is definitely clumping. In fact, it makes very hard clumps that do not easily break apart when you remove them. This is the best litter I've ever used. |

| Answer: | I wonder the same thing. I use the Simply Unscented and it is not lightweight at all. The clay granules are the same size as other litters I've used. One difference I notice is that the Simply Unscented comes in a 25 lb. box, while the Ultra Unscented comes in a 20 lb. box, but that doesn't really help to figure out the differences in the formula. Also, the Simply Unscented does have a light scent. I'm not sure what it is - or how Fresh Step can claim it's unscented - but it's definitely different from the plain, cheap, non-clumping clay litters, which have no scent at all and don't smell like the Fresh Step does. Something to keep in mind if anyone in the family has allergies or asthma. |

Virtually no tracking, one large Oko box, lasts one month for two extra large corner boxes for extra large male cat. I fill about 2” deep. Scoop every other day. Change all litter about every 2 weeks. Answer to a difficult odor issue since I discovered he pees straight back like a tiger. Caveat Use a wide grate scooper for these pellets. Clumps great! Nice natural woodsy scent. |
