Answer:	I got mine in Jan '19. I don't remember any smell. I do remember washing them in soapy water, so there might have been a slight smell like you get from them being stored in a plastic bag until sold.

Answer:	When opened, this measures 7inches on top and 5 inches on the bottom. For about 1/4cup of food, I spread my dogs meal on the bottom and he does have to work a little bit for it. My boy swallows his food, so this helps a little. I really like it.
