First thank you for being wonderful and unusually caring person for rescuing or adopting an adult cat 1) if “Jom” is joining other animals (even dogs) in the house, it’s possible he’s trying to spread his scent around to assert his presence there and feel safe in his new surroundings. 2) please please please make sure you get him checked by a trustworthy vet to be sure there isn’t an underlying medical condition and who can also help guide you in overcoming any potential behavioral issues. 3) introducing a cat to a new household means a lot of confusion (and if an adult, upset) for a cat. If there’s been a lot of instability or uncertainty in his life prior to you it will take time to feel safe and trust you. It’s a long-term investment but I can tell you from personal experience that in time it will come. We rescued a cat that had incredible instability and unreliable people in his life and it took 3 years of consistent efforts but I remember the day he finally had come to fully trust me and it was SO REWARDING knowing I had given him that safe forever home with people he trust to love him. That said, You may need to contain a smaller room for him where he has his own litter box, and feels safe. We kept our adult rescue in our back room for the first month so he could get settled, feel safe and knew where everything was (food, litter box, water) and didn’t need to fend off other animals for his basic needs. We also spent A LOT of time with him and allowed our current pets to smell him from the other side of the door. Since your Jom has already been with you for a couple of months it’s likely that you’re beyond that option. Check out Jackson Galaxy online (one of the most awesome cat behaviorists I know of!). Important Reminders:

1. Please use indoors.

2. Please change the water and clean the fountain once a week.

3. The highest water level is 3/4 of the bowl height and the lowest water level is more than the water outlet of the pump. Sometimes loud fountains are the consequence of a low water level or a dirty impeller. Please make sure the water level is high enough and clean the pump impeller according to the instructions.

4. To prevent the activated carbon dust (it will not harm your pets) from shedding, please soak the filter in water for 2 minutes and rinse it thoroughly under running water before use. The filter should be changed every 2-4 weeks. Replace the filter sponge once a month.

5. Please keep the cable away from pets chewing it.

Step 1: remove the pump cover and remove the impeller cover.

Step 2: cover the impeller with the ring of the brush handle and take it out.

Step 3: clean the parts with a brush, soap and warm water.

Answer:	We use tap water in ours and it works fine.
Question:	Does this accrue biofilm between cleanings
Answer:	the hose connects to a side corner of the pump. when you put the pump inside, the side where the hose connects should face the back of the container. otherwise the pump doesn't fit well. Doing this might mean that the electric cable comes out of the pump facing the front of the container. that's okay. you just need to wrap the electrical wire around the side and up through the notch at the top of the container in the back. once i did this the pump fits well and runs quietly. it also helps to make sure the container is full enough with water to completely cover the pump. mine is in a windowsill that gets a lot of warm sunlight, to the water tends to evaporate fast. i add water to it once every day to keep it full
Question:	Do any other filters work? Theyre unavailable on Amazon and Im completely out
Answer:	I doubt it. I bought it for my cat (10 lbs) and I had to refill multiple times per day, because the pump would start making a loud noise. I could only add a small amount of water but if I didn't keep it mostly full it would make a noise I could hear 2 rooms away. I liked the appearance and material (ceramic rather than plastic) but gave up on it and threw it away after a week of trying to keep it filled to the correct level to not be loud but also not flow-over onto the floor. I have a plastic water fountain that is much better.
