Answer:	You can also use the pythagorean theorem measuring. you measure to the top leaf from a point some distance from the base of the tree, and then the distance to the base of the tree, and the device can calculate the height of that point. it's a great aid for when you can't get a direct measurement.

Answer:	To set to inches only, Hold Down the Function Key for 2-5 seconds until a circular menu pops up, then release the the function key. Select ft/m by pressing the function key. use the left (-) or right (+) arrow keys to move and highlight the 0" 1/32 selection. Press the Function Key to accept the change. You should now be able to measure in INCHES only (no feet) and fractions.

Answer:	I purchased the GLM 50 CX at Lowes. when I opened the packaging the model number on the back of device is a GLM 50 C. Therefore the only difference is the packaging and a small decal inside that says "Belongs To:" On a positive note the display is great to read especially without my readers

It also has an indication of 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8" above the 32nds ticks on the bottom indicators. the top indication is 1/16" scale. Please note that the UNDERSIDE of the tape has indications as well with another 1/16" scale and metric.

Answer:	The rangefinder has been calibrated by the factory. The user can turn on/off the feature that includes the length of the device itself in the displayed measurement for making interior measurements. I would use this device for estimating materials but not for cutting materials for length.
Question:	Does the laser work in dusty conditions outside
Answer:	Mine does not. Check your battery. Mine takes a reading and displays the measurement, turning itself off. If you keep the power key pressed for too long, it will also turn off. I hope it's nothing more than a battery issue. It took me a little bit of playing with to understand the design logic.

Answer:	That depends on the size of the corner. The angle finder I have is 8.55 inches long and just under 1.4 inches wide when closed, so the corner must be large enough for the tool to fit inside. The pivot end has a radius slightly smaller than half the with of the two straight edges. You can make a mockup of the tool using the dimensions I have given here an the angle you need and see if it fits the corner you want.
Question:	will this measure height outdoors? ie from the ground to the top of a tree
Answer:	I have had to do a lot of atypical miters and how I do this is to cut one miter angle and them measure this angle to determine the other angle on the miter. This has worked well, but can difficult if you do not have the space needed to expand the Gem Red. Overall this is a remarkable tool that is very accurate. But I needed to buy a smaller digital angle finder to work in smaller spaces. After working with the digital, would never go back to non digital.
