3 best water chlorinators

Water chlorinators are devices used to introduce chlorine into pools, hot tubs, or other water systems for the purpose of disinfection and sanitation. Chlorine is commonly used to kill bacteria, algae, and other microorganisms in water, ensuring it remains safe and clean for recreational use. Here's what you should know about water chlorinators:

  1. Chlorine Disinfection: Chlorine is a powerful disinfectant that effectively kills harmful microorganisms present in water. It is widely used in swimming pools, hot tubs, and spa systems to maintain water quality.

  2. Types of Water Chlorinators:

    • Manual Chlorinators: These are simple devices where chlorine is added manually in the form of tablets, granules, or liquid to the water. Users need to monitor and adjust chlorine levels regularly.
    • Automatic Chlorinators: Also known as chlorinator feeders, these devices automatically dispense a controlled amount of chlorine into the water. They are typically connected to the water circulation system and are more convenient for maintaining consistent chlorine levels.
  3. Chlorine Forms: Chlorine can be added in various forms, including chlorine tablets, chlorine granules, or liquid chlorine. The choice of form depends on the type of chlorinator and personal preference.

  4. Control of Chlorine Levels: Water chlorinators are equipped with controls that allow users to adjust the chlorine levels in the water. Maintaining the appropriate chlorine level is crucial for effective sanitation and safety.

  5. Safety Measures: Chlorine should be handled and stored with care as it is a powerful chemical. Users should follow safety guidelines and store chlorine products in a cool, dry place away from children and pets.

  6. Water Testing: Regular water testing is essential to ensure that chlorine levels are within the recommended range. Test kits or electronic water testers can be used to monitor chlorine levels and adjust the chlorinator accordingly.

  7. pH Control: Chlorine effectiveness is influenced by the pH level of the water. Water chlorinators may include features to adjust pH levels or users may need to add pH-adjusting chemicals separately.

  8. Maintenance: Proper maintenance of water chlorinators is important to ensure their long-term functionality. This may involve cleaning the chlorinator and replacing parts as needed.

  9. Alternative Sanitizers: In addition to chlorine, some pool and hot tub owners explore alternative sanitization methods, such as saltwater chlorination systems or UV sterilization, which can reduce the reliance on traditional chlorine products.

  10. Regulations: In some areas, there may be regulations governing the use of chlorine in pools and hot tubs. It's important to be aware of and comply with any local regulations and guidelines for water sanitation.

In summary, water chlorinators are essential tools for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of pools, hot tubs, and similar water systems. They come in manual and automatic variants and are used to introduce chlorine into the water for disinfection. Regular monitoring, water testing, and maintenance are key to ensuring effective water chlorination.

User questions & answers

Question: I have had this product for about 2 weeks. In the past few days it began to smell reallly bad. It smells like old faithful. Does anyone elses smell
Answer: i keep mine in the refrigerator to avoid that situation from happening. It is probably spoiled. First, check the expiration date on the bottle, if it is still supposed to be good, you may want to look around the storage area you had it in for local heat sources that can sour it, such as: periods of direct sunlight during the day, sitting in front of the heat vent, etc. These can spoil the product in short order. Like I said, I keep mine in the fridge just to be safe, (all my liquids for my tank are in the fridge, even tho they do not require it.) I hope that helps. for what it is worth, the smell I get from a fresh one has a tang of aloe vera to it, smelling like a swimming pool kinda smell, minus the chlorine.
Question: What's the difference between the tap water conditioner, the stress coat conditoner & the stress zyme. I'm confused, do I need all three for my biorb
Answer: Looking at the ounces needed per gallon, the stress coat treats 60 gallons per ounce while the tap water conditioner treats 600 gallons per ounce. It looks like the stress coat does more things to protect the fish, but the tap water conditioner will treat more tap water per bottle.
Question: Can I use it for the water I use to water my plants? My plants don't do well with my tap water. Thanks
Answer: Late to the game, but I think this question needs a better answer; is this safe for plants? YES. Bog and fresh water plants are just as sensitive to their environment (if not more) than terrestrial plants and this product works great in planted tanks. This does nothing to change PH, so if your soil has a PH problem this wont fix it. Be aware this is an expensive solution for house plants, you might find something cheaper at a garden center or the cheapest solution is letting the water 'gas out' if your only problem is chlorine. When I had only about a gallons worth of water changes, I bought a mop bucket just for my betta fish, pored water into it and let it sit out for two days so the chlorine gas could work its way out. Never had an issue. Now I have a bigger tank so mixing water on the fly is much less hassle then having a bunch of buckets sitting around.
Question: What is the difference between the 1 gallon item at $37.28 and the 128 ounce item at
Answer: $17.82

Feed Your Fish Daily

Feed your fish twice daily with API Fish Food which contains nutritionally enhanced proteins, allowing for easy uptake of nutrients and maximum absorption, resulting in less excrement for clear, clean water. Take time to observe fish to ensure they are active & healthy and be sure to check water temperature.

Test Water Quality Weekly

An aquarium is a closed environment and in order for fish to thrive, water must be similar to that which could be found in their natural environment. Poor water quality can cause fish stress, illness and even loss. The 5 common water quality parameters are Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, and pH - all of which may vary over time and all are invisible to the eye which is why it is important to test weekly with API MASTER TEST KITS or API 5-IN-1 TEST STRIPS. It is also a good time to add API STRESS ZYME to keep your aquarium & gravel clean.

Change 25% Water Every 2 Weeks

In a closed aquarium environment there are no natural rivers or streams to carry away debris and other waste materials. It is important to renew 25% of the aquarium water every two weeks. When you change the water, it is important to know that tap water contains chemicals that make it safe for us to drink but harmful for fish, therefore add a water conditioner such as API STRESS COAT.

Restore Your Ecosystem Monthly

It is important to change your filter media & clean gravel monthly, however in doing so it can disrupt the fragile ecosystem of your aquarium. Use API QUICK START to strengthen it with ‘beneficial’ nitrifying bacteria that will naturally consume toxic compounds and help prevent fish stress. Also recommended when starting a new aquarium or changing the water.

User questions & answers

Question: This unit has any capability for working via an app for remote monitoring
Answer: Dear Valued Customer, thank you for your question. We are always devoted to research and develop the kind of app for remote monitoring so it is on the way to be developed.
Question: How do you check the settings to see if the correct cell type is chosen? And how do you change it if it is not correct? Could this cause inaccurate #s
Answer: To check the cell type on my unit I press the middle button between the left and right arrow (I think it says menu). It will cycle through the options. You use the left and right arrow buttons to select the correct cell type. It can absolutely cause inaccurate #'s and the cell may stop generating salt. I have found that Blue Works support is very good. If this does not solve your problem, if you call them during regular business hours, they are answering the phones even though they were not working last month.
Question: What benefit does the Smart Chlorinator Program provide
Answer: It only generates chlorine when the levels are low. Whatever it does we have not had to add any chlorine to our pool despite massive amounts of rain. The level had remained perfect. We have only added salt once and that was because of the amount of rain we had gotten.
Question: Is this a complete system
Answer: Dear Valued Customer, thank you for your question. BLSC 30 is a complete system, including a control box, a cell, a flow switch, unions and orings.
