Based on 632 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Swimming pool shock treatments are an essential aspect of spring pool opening but should also be used to give your pool a quick chlorine boost. Super Shock is the most popular and versatile pool shock treatment available that is used to kill algae and bacteria and remove micro-contaminants that make pool water cloudy. Use Super Shock to kill visible algae blooms and invisible bacteria, which could cause illness to swimmers. Your daily chlorination of the pool will kill most pathogenic bacteria, viruses and microbes, however to be sure that the water is sanitary, it is good practice to 'shock the pool', or super-chlorinate the pool every week. Shocking your pool eliminates any contaminants in the water, especially the invisible germs that may be harboring in the water. It is also smart to "Oxidize" your pool water on a weekly basis with Oxidizing shock. "Oxidizing" your pool water on a weekly basis burns off "chloramines" - or spent chlorine cells - allowing the newly introduced chlorine to work at 100% efficiency. It also eliminates all of the contaminants that your chlorine and chlorine based shock have killed in the pool water - helping ensure a safe, clear pool!

  • Main active ingredient is 68% Calcium Hypochlorite (Cal-Hypo)
  • Powerful chlorine shock treatment that is great for regular maintenance

Question: What is the shelf life of this product
Answer: all pool shocks shelf life is normally one hear; then slowly their strength decreases. at what rate, dont know. however, i never had any issues using 2-3 year old shock.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this Chlorine stabilized or unstabilized
Answer: No!
Question: Can this be used in a saltwater pool
Answer: I have a saltwater pool and last year learned that using this type of shock in saltwater creates calcium crystals to form. (White flakes floating around) Use liquid chlorine in your saltwater pool.
Question: How long do you have to wait to swim after shocking
Answer: Not just a couple minutes with any chlorine shock. That is false! Both Chlorine Free Shock and Lithium Hypo Shock are fine like play sand and dissolve almost instantly. For that reason you can swim after only a few minutes after shocking with a non chlorine shock. Using Chlorine shocks require a waiting period for swimming of 4-8hrs. If you read the package I beleive it says to add to the deepest part of your pool, at night, with your pool pump running (pre disolve in water for vinyl pools) or something to that affect. Personally, I shock once per week at night. If it happens that I need to shock before the kids want to swim then I typically wait a minimum or 1-2hrs before letting them get in. As a general rule of thumb waiting a good 8hrs+ after shocking is good pool chemical practice . If "Michael Brown" waits a couple minutes and that works for him then by all means have at it. I do know that under no circumstance would I reccomend just a couple minutes with a chlorine based shock. I cant imagine that the manufacturer would reccomend that either. Hope that helps a little.
Question: Can this product to be used in a concrete pool
Answer: I have a gunite pool and use this product.

In The Swim Super Pool Shock

Swimming pool shock treatments are an essential aspect of spring pool opening but can also give your pool a quick chlorine boost. Super Pool Shock is our most powerful shock treatment. It will kill the toughest algae and bacteria as well as other harmful water contaminants. Super Pool Shock will kill visible algae blooms and invisible bacteria, which could cause illness to swimmers. Daily chlorination will kill most bacteria, viruses, and various microbes, however, it is good practice to ‘shock the pool’, or super-chlorinate the pool every few weeks. Doing this will also you to oxidize everything in the water, especially the invisible germs that may exist in the water.

Reliable & Easy to Use

In The Swim Pool Shock is our most economical chlorine shock treatment for pools, sold in convenient 1 lb. bags. Powerful formula contains 99% calcium hypochlorite in a powerful 68% available chlorine formula. Granular chlorine Pool Shock is used for a variety of purposes to sanitize and disinfect pools, spas and fountains. Easy to use Pool Shock effectively treats 10,000 gallons of pool water per bag.

Kills Algae & Bacteria

Use our Pool Shock to kill visible algae blooms and invisible bacteria, which could cause illness to swimmers. Your daily chlorination of the pool will kill most pathogenic bacteria, viruses and microbes, however to be sure that the water is sanitary, it is good practice to 'shock the pool', or super-chlorinate the pool every few weeks, to oxidize everything in the water, especially the invisible germs that may be harboring in the water.

Super Chlorinate

One pound of In The Swim Pool Shock will raise free chlorine levels in a clean and balanced pool to 9 ppm, per 10,000 gallons of pool water. Pools with excessive debris, algae, suspended particles or heavy sunlight will need a proportionally higher dose of pool shock, to compensate for such factors. A double or triple dose is often required for poor water conditions such as spring openings, bacteria contamination, or severe algae blooms.

Product features

HTH Super Shock Treatment

Shock treat your pool at least once a week to kill unwanted bacteria and algae and to give your pool the boost of chlorine it needs to keep your water clean and clear.

The hth Super Benefit

This is an effective shock product that kills bacteria and algae and restores crystal clarity to pool water within 24 hours, reduces chlorine odor and eye irritation caused by swimming pool water and won’t fade liners. It is convenient, easy to use, and won’t over-stabilize your pool.

Application Directions

Turn on the filter pump. Empty skimmer of chemicals and debris. Pour the product slowly into skimmer, making sure that the material is drawn into the system at the same rate, Do not allow this material to accumulate as toxic gases may be generated. Test free available chlorine residual with an hth pool test kit or test strips. Don't enter pool until the free available chlorine residual is 1-4 ppm.

Why Shock?

There are a myriad of factors working against your cleanliness of your pool water at all times: -Sunlight is breaking down your chlorine. You can lose up to 5 parts per million of your chlorine in one sunny afternoon -Swimmers are innocently delivering lots of bacteria and contaminants, like sweat. makeup and sunscreen -Storms come often in the summertime and bring with them dust, pollen, leaves and algea spores Shocking is one of the best ways to help your pool water look great and it's also the best way to protect it from all of the aforementioned contaminants.

When to Shock

In ideal circumstances, shocking your pool just once a week will keep it looking clean and clear, but any heavy rainfall, signs of algae, use by lots of swimmers, or periods of very sunny weather can deplete free chlorine levels, which means an extra dose of hth Shock is needed.Sundown is optimum time to shock your pool because the chlorine can work without fighting the sun's ultraviolet rays and has more time to restore water clarity. Luckily, shocking is very easy and we're here to walk you through it.

Follow the 4 steps

Step 1 Make sure your pH level is between 7.2-7.6. Adjust accordingly if needed. Also make sure your pump is running. Step 2 Snip the corner off the shock product you've chosen for your pool and sprinkle it along the deepest end of the water. Step 3 If any granules settle at the bottom, use a brush to help disperse them evenly. Step 4 Finally, wait until your free available chlorine levels are between 1 and 4 ppm (parts per million) before using your pool.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used in salt water pools
Answer: buy a floating dispensor for 3 inch tabs, buysome tabs. next the important thing,a test kit,a simple 2 test kit will do for what you have.just test chlorine and ph, ph takes a week or so to settle down to a good reading.don't even need to test for first week. after you get some good reading then tell me what they are and I will help you to adjust it. its simple with a pool your size. run filter 6-8 hours a day.most important and don't forget this!!! have fun!!!!! depending on how your ph goes will determind what chlorine to use, there is no straight chlorine,it is all bonded to another element ,which element you want depends on your ph reading.
Question: Does this really need to be diluted in water before adding it to your pool or can you just sprinkle directly into pool water (all around of course

In The Swim Pool Shock Treatment

Swimming pool shock treatments are an essential aspect of spring pool opening but can also be used to give your pool a quick chlorine boost. Pool Shock is our most popular and versatile pool shock treatment, used to kill algae and bacteria and remove micro-contaminants that make pool water cloudy.

User questions & answers

Question: how long ship
Answer: My only problem with shipping is that you have to be present for delivery. We wound up having to pick it up at our local warehouse for fedex.
Question: Can I use this for waste water treatment
Answer: I am no chemist, but it does clear up the pool when it turns green. So I suppose that you could, but I really do not know. Best of luck.
Question: Does it contain stabilizer, or is it not stabilized
Answer: I bought this product because calcium is not supposed to have stabilizer, but after five applications, my CYA reading is increasing. I am not happy.
Question: Is it a loose product and if so dose it come with a measuring cup for the required 1lb add
Answer: It is granular and comes with a measuring cup. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the cup as I assume it measures volume rather than weight but it could account for that.
Question: Can this be used in salt water pools
Answer: Yes, i use it in my salt water pool, one bag a week
Question: Does this really need to be diluted in water before adding it to your pool or can you just sprinkle directly into pool water (all around of course
Answer: I just sprinkle around pool
Question: So what's the difference between sodium and calcium hypochlorite ? Is 1pack of this is stronger than a bottle of 12.5pc sodium
Answer: Good question: I reviewed several sources and found the answers to be complicated. My opinion is that Granular calcium hypochlorite contains 65 percent of available chlorine. Therefore, if you are currently using sodium hypochlorite (12%), then you can make an equivalent stock solution by mixing 1.5 pounds of granular calcium hypochlorite to each gallon of water in the stock solution tank. Source of information http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=93148 The solid form (Calcium Hypochlorite) seems easier to use which is why I purchase that one. Additionally, the cost per unit of chlorine from the calcium hypochlorite seems to be less expensive. Again, sources of information show differing numbers including the amount of free chlorine released from each unit. It may be a good idea to try each one then test the resultant solution for the amount of available Chlorine.
Question: Is this safe for vinyl pools

User questions & answers

Question: What is the active ingredient in the second part (the flocking agent
Answer: If you’re dimensions are 18 ft. Diameter round pool that is 52 inches deep calculate the volume. But to get rid of the Green the box should be enough for two treatments. 2 bags of Shock, 1 bag of the flocculant. I think your volume would be under 8000 gallons.
Question: Super green to blue has caused mine to be cloudy and green. What to do
Answer: Yes. The sauna is (light weight) conveniently easy to fold down/dismantle and store away; when not in use. Fyi.. I have a large bathroom - and utilize my sauna on a daily basis since i purchased it; space is not a problem for me. Hope this helps.
Question: What color is the powder supposed to be? Mine is brown
Answer: This is a Far Infrared Sauna unit. Far infrared is better in many ways than full spectrum ones, and is the form most absorbable by the body. Far infrared are the same ones used in baby incubators in hospitals.
Question: The box comes with 4 shock bags , how many bags do I need to add to my 18x52 inch pool
Answer: Hi dear, you can put essential oils or herbs in the herbal box to physiotherapy, which can not be put in the steam pot. And the herbal box can be used to make steam spread broadly ( Note: Keep all the blowhole of the herbal box open then start using it. To avoid high temperature burns. Do not touch the herbal box when using ).

Kills Green Algae

Chlorine is very effective at destroying green algae. The high dose provided by HTH Super Green to Blue quickly destroys severe green algae blooms that make water green and

opaque.

Clears the Water of Debris

The heavy duty flocculant in HTH Super Green to Blue II works fast to settle dead algae and debris to be vacuumed as waste and return the crystal clear blue appearance to the water.

Keeps Water Clear

The fast-dissolving formula found in HTH Super Green to Blue acts quickly to restore clarity to your water so you can be back in the swimming pool within 24 hours. Maintaining proper salitizer levels and using a preventative HTH algaecide will keep the water crystal clear.

1. Test pH Levels

Dip an HTH Multi-purpose 6-Way Test Strip (sold separately) into the water to measure total alkalinity, pH, free available chlorine (FAC), calcium hardness, and cyanuric acid or stabilizer. Balance water, and adjust alkalinity and pH levels, where applicable.

2. Apply Directly to Water

Before handling any chemicals, put on protective gloves and goggles. During evening hours and with the pump running, broadcast the HTH Super Shock! Treatment evenly along the deep end of the swimming pool.

3. Wait & Test Chlorine Levels

If granules settle along the bottom of the pool, use a brush to disperse until granules are dissolved. Once free available chlorine levels are between 1 and 4 ppm, your pool is ready to use again.
