12 best mole pellets
Mole pellets are a type of pest control product designed to deter and repel moles from invading lawns, gardens, and other outdoor spaces. Moles are small mammals known for their tunneling habits, which can result in unsightly molehills and damage to plants and grass. Mole pellets are formulated to discourage moles from burrowing in these areas.
Here are some key points about mole pellets and their use in pest control:
Active Ingredients: Mole pellets typically contain active ingredients that create unpleasant odors or tastes for moles. Common ingredients include castor oil, which can irritate moles' sensitive noses and mouths, and other natural repellents.
Application: Mole pellets are applied to the soil in the areas where moles are active. It's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper application, as overuse or improper placement may be less effective.
Non-Toxic: Many mole pellets are designed to be environmentally friendly and safe for use around pets and children. They do not contain harmful chemicals that could pose a threat to the ecosystem or human health.
Effectiveness: The effectiveness of mole pellets can vary depending on the product and the severity of the mole infestation. Some people find them to be an effective solution, while others may need to combine mole pellets with other mole control methods, such as traps or sonic repellent devices.
Duration: Mole pellets may need to be reapplied periodically to maintain their effectiveness, especially after heavy rain or watering that can wash away the active ingredients.
Pest Control Strategy: Mole pellets are just one tool in the overall strategy for mole control. It's important to also address the root causes of mole infestations, such as an abundance of their food source (insects and grubs) in the soil.
Environmental Considerations: When using mole pellets, it's essential to consider their impact on the environment. Choose products that are labeled as safe for the environment and follow application guidelines to minimize any potential harm.
Remember that while mole pellets can be a helpful part of a mole control plan, they may not provide a complete solution on their own. If you have a severe mole problem, it's a good idea to consult with a professional pest control expert who can assess the situation and recommend the most appropriate course of action.

Sweeney’s Mole and Gopher Repellent
Say goodbye to mole and gopher invaders with Sweeney’s Mole & Gopher Repellent. It uses a dual action formula to target the senses of burrowing animals, such as moles, gophers, voles and more. The granules penetrate their tunnels, creating an unpleasant environment, which drives them away before they have a chance to do further damage around your yard. For your convenience, it comes in a resealable bag for easy storage.
Dual-Action Repelling
This repellent works by slowly driving burrowing animals away in stages. The fast-acting formula targets multiple senses for dual-action repelling. Once inside the tunnel, the granules make everything and taste unpleasant, sending the unwanted pests scurrying.
Tunnel-Penetrating Formula
Made with specially engineered castor oil pellets, this repellent is easily absorbed into the ground, allowing the granules to reach the tunnel quickly. The trick is in the application process – daily watering of the granules allows them to penetrate further into the tunnels.
All Natural
With Sweeney’s Mole and Gopher Repellent you can feel confident in the knowledge that it’s all natural. It is non-toxic and poison-free! In addition, this repellent formula is safe for use around your family and pets, as well as the environment when used as directed.
How to Apply Mole and Gopher Repellent
Every mole invasion is different, so it is important to think about your strategy before applying the granules. You should first identify the mole areas with the most activity and decide which direction to herd them out of the yard. Note: Application may require more steps depending on the size of your yard.
Day 1 - Spread the granules over the first area and water-in with a sprinkler for approximately 20 minutes. Watering allows the concentrated granules to penetrate deeply into the lawn.
Day 2 - Spread the granules over the second area. Water-in the same are as Day 1, as well as the second area to get the mole moving. Each day’s watering allows the granules to penetrate more deeply.
Day 3 - Spread granules over the third area. Water-in the same areas as Day 1 and 2, as well as the third area to keep the mole moving.
Day 4 - Spread the granules over the fourth area. Water-in the same areas as Days 1, 2, and 3, as well as the fourth area to move the mole out of the yard.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use this in my organic vegetable garden |
Answer: | Yes, I used it in my organic vegetable garden--and it worked! The active ingredient is castor oil, and the rest is sawdust, granite, and corn starch. |
Question: | Will this product really work on ground hogs |
Answer: | I put this down last summer I had a huge mole problem and one Dady groundhog. 2 days I put it on. I hadn't seen any moles after and nothing this summer. One ground hog showed up again this spring I put it over the lawn again and I haven't seen him or any miles again. Worked for me. |
Question: | WHAI ARE INGREDIANCES |
Answer: | castor oil is the main ingredient and the supposed one that drives the gophers/moles away. we've had mixed results using it. |
Question: | how long do the moles stay away from the treated area |
Answer: | I have had good success applying the product every other month (faithfully). It is rare for me to find gopher mounds. There tends to be more mole activity in the Spring, but oddly they tunnel along the edges of my lawn. I suspect this is where the product is least concentrated. If you are a new user, I would apply monthly for about three months, especially if you continue to see activity. My geographic location is N. California. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Wondering how this product would work on Florida moles? Since they eat worms, why would they eat cracked corn |
Answer: | I used several containers of this stuff and saw no evidence that it worked at all. switched to traps and got 7 moles out of the yard in three weeks. |
Question: | Does this work with the yard butler bait applicator |
Answer: | I had ~ 180 pocket gophers on my acreage, used Yard Butler with Moletox. I have only seen 4 mounds so far this spring, but won't really know until August (early May now) |
Question: | Can I use it with pets in my yard |
Answer: | I use it with extreme caution. I follow the products instruction and bury it deep into the ground(mark it with sprinkler flags). We have a cat and a neighbor's dog that wanders around our yard but never noticed any "digging" from them. The product has a very strong garlicky odor and I always use a caution handling it since it's a product designed to kill or make a mole sick and die. |
Question: | does this product work on ground squirills |
Answer: | I don't know. I haven't seen signs of squirrels since we are in a heat wave. But there are new signs of gophers. So I'm not sure it worked at all. |

Sweeney's Mole and Gopher Poison Peanuts Bait - 4 Pack
Stop lawn damage fast with America's top selling mole and gopher bait. Sweeney's Poison Peanuts attract moles and gophers - when consumed, the fast-acting poison kills them swiftly.
Application Tips to Help Win the War
Prior to treatment, determine which tunnels are active by either pressing down a small section of the tunnel or removing a one inch section of the tunnel’s roof. Mark these sections and re-check them in 24-hours. The tunnel is considered active if the flattened runway has been raised up or if the roof has been repaired. Only treat active tunnels.
After identifying active tunnels, carefully punch a hole in the top of the active tunnel with the pointed end of the cone, drop in a teaspoon of the pellets, and carefully close the hole with sod or stone. Do not collapse the runway again or allow loose soil to cover the bait. After a few days, check the tunnels to see if they are still active. If so, repeat treatment until the war has been won.
Post-battle
Wearing waterproof gloves, collect and dispose of dead, exposed animals. Dispose of leftover bait in accordance with the disposal instructions on the package.
Answers to frequently asked questions:
Q: I placed Sweeney’s Poison Peanuts in my back yard. How long should I keep my pet away from the pellets?
A: Sweeney's Poison Peanuts will break down and decompose when exposed to water and soil. After this occurs, you can let your pet out as long as the pellets have disintegrated and washed away.
Q: How long do poison peanuts remain active?
A: The length of time the pellets remain active depends on the amount of precipitation your area has received. If it has not rained since you applied the pellets, the pellets are probably still intact and poisonous. If it has rained or the area has been watered, three to four weeks would be a safe time to wait before exposing your pet to the pellets.
Q: Can I use poison peanuts in my vegetable garden?
A: There is little risk associated with eating vegetables grown in gardens treated with Sweeney’s Poison Peanuts. The active ingredient, Zinc Phosphide, cannot be directly absorbed through plant roots.
Q: I placed Sweeney’s Poison Peanuts in my yard; why do I still have moles?
A: It is important to place the bait in an active tunnel. To figure out which runway is active, you need to flatten out all runs. The following day you should notice that one runway has re-appeared. This indicates an active runway. This is the runway where the Sweeney’s Poison Peanuts should be placed.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is difference between this item and the yard butler gba |
Answer: | There's really no difference. It's merely used to deposit poisonous bait in the underground tracks of either gophers or moles. It's very easy to load with bait and then use. I've used mine several times and it truly does get rid of the pests that can honestly destroy your yard! |
Question: | I have horses, will the poison be absorbed through the grass and then the horses eat the grass |
Answer: | The poison goes into mole tunnels to be eaten my gophers or moles. Not sure if would absorb into grass? I would think you would have to ask a pesticide expert. It works very well for under ground pests |
Question: | Dog friendly |
Answer: | I have two dogs that are diggers, so I don’t use this in their area. Don’t want to take a chance on then eating it! It is a serious poison! |
Question: | can these be used to anchor a protecta sidekick |
Answer: | No. This is a poison applicator. It gets the poison down into the mole hole. I guess you can put rat poison in it to apply it into a rats nest, but it’s not an anchor. |

IGBA-1 Gopher/Mole Bait Applicator
Pocket Gophers and Moles are voracious and feed on any type of vegetation found underground. They destroy food trees by gnawing away the roots, and they also ravage tuber and bulb gardens. Placing poison bait directly in the gopher’s tunnel with a minimum of disturbance is the most effective method of control. Pocket gophers and moles are active year-round, but the best time for baiting is in late winter and early spring when the soil softens, just before the pocket gophers reproduce and have young. Gopher and Mole Baits Contain Poison! Bait can be fatal to birds and animals. Follow all bait manufacturers’ precautionary instructions carefully. Keep out of reach of children.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this kill chipmonks too |
Answer: | I don't believe it will work with a Murray500E series engine. This gas tank will only fit on engines where if the spark plug is in the front of the mower the carburetor is on the right and muffler is on the left. |
Question: | can this be put in plants |
Answer: | No, part number 590949 is a different item. |
Question: | Can this kill mice |
Answer: | I had those same numbers on my briggs fuel tank so I followed the instructions of William C Francis and I found these numbers on the engine model 12V802- Type -1783-BI- Code 01022259. My mower is a Yardman 12A-569T401. So with that info can anyone tell if this fuel tank will work for that mower? I am assuming yours is the same Krissie? |
Question: | does this product get rid of voles in the yard |
Answer: | This does not fit the Gold 6.75 engine. The threads are on the inside this cap is for outside threads. At least it was only 4 bucks for me to tell you that... |

User questions & answers
Question: | The pellets did not dissolve after ½ hour of watering. Any suggestions |
Answer: | Yes it does the bowl is fixed on the rest of the carburetor |
Question: | Has anyone used this for getting rid of armidillos |
Answer: | This was the wrong part for my older (1990s) lawn mower. If the carburetor end has a fatter tube (~1.25" diameter) then try Briggs & Stratton Grommet 280368 instead. |
Question: | How many square feet does it take care of |
Answer: | I took a careful look at the gas tank on my Billy Goat Vac with a Briggs and Stratton engine. Look at yours and see if it has that strap part of the fuel tank that circles the top of the engine. This was a perfect fit for mine and a Genuine B&S part. Hope this is useful info, Larry |

User questions & answers
Question: | how does this compare to Vole Max |
Answer: | Don't know how it compares to Vole Max, but what I found works bests is mouse traps (that kill) with peanut butter. Get a bunch of them and place them near holes and paths. One the Vole start to die the others will start to leave. You can also try getting a cat, but that will cost more in the long run. |
Question: | Is it effective on ground squirrels |
Answer: | Not so much. The squirrels still get into my outdoor pots to either bury acorns or dig them out. |
Question: | what are voles |
Answer: | Voles are small rodents (they look like field mice) that burrow in the ground and eat roots, bark, and even above ground plants. They can cause a tremendous amount of damage to plants, especially if their population is allowed to grow in a specific area. Contact with any further questions! |
Question: | do you need to water the lawn before or after for this to work ? Dont see any directions on how to use |
Answer: | This product needs to be watered in after you apply it so the repellent can soak down into the soil and drive away the moles and voles. Many customers simply apply the product before a rainstorm, letting nature take care of the watering process for them! Detailed instructions are on the back label, but if you have any further questions before you purchase please don't hesitate to contact us directly! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a Sweeney's Product |
Answer: | Yes. You water all areas it's been applied to for 20 minutes a day for up to four days. If you apply it to four zones, you apply the first zone and water it. Next day, you apply to zone 2 and water zones 1 and 2. Day 3, apply zone 3 and water all three zones, etc. The zone application is intended to force them to leave as successive areas become unpleasant. If you really get excessive rain, the bag states that reapplication may be needed. What it doesn't say is how often it should be reapplied to keep moles out once they've gone. |
Question: | How often do you apply victors mole and gopher repellent |
Answer: | I spent a lot of money on Tomcat and used it exactly according to the instructions. It prove to be a total waste of money. If it had worked, I would have successfully pushed the mole to my neighbors yard, but Tomcat enabled me to keep the mole in my lawn (sorry for the sarcasm). |
Question: | Is it safe to use to use in our vegetable garden |
Answer: | My experience dealing with them has been that any one product applied may not move them out of your area. This one is only a part of the products I use to get them out of our yard. Think it may have helped. Good luck. |
Question: | will this work for chipmunks |
Answer: | I believe it is....BUT this stuff DID NOTHING to rid my yard of voles😠😠😠 |

Dual-Action Repelling
Victor Mole & Gopher Repellent works by slowly driving burrowing animals away in stages. The fast-acting formula targets multiple senses for dual-action repelling. Once inside the tunnel, the granules make everything in the tunnel smell and taste unpleasant, sending the unwanted pests scurrying to find a more favorable place to live.
Tunnel-Penetrating Formula
Made with specially engineered castor oil pellets, this repellent is easily absorbed into the ground, allowing the granules to reach the tunnel quickly. The trick is in the application process – daily watering of the granules allows them to penetrate further into the tunnels. The 10 lb bag provides up to 10,000 total square feet of coverage.
All Natural
Not only is Victor Mole & Gopher Repellent effective and easy to use, but you can also feel confident in the knowledge that it’s all natural. It is non-toxic and poison-free! In addition, this repellent formula is safe for use around your family and pets, as well as the environment when used as directed.
How to Apply

- Day 2 - Spread the granules over the second area. Water-in the same are as Day 1, as well as the second area to get the mole moving. Each day’s watering allows the granules to penetrate more deeply.
- Day 3 - Spread granules over the third area. Water-in the same areas as Day 1 and 2, as well as the third area to keep the mole moving.
- Day 4 - Spread the granules over the fourth area. Water-in the same areas as Days 1, 2, and 3, as well as the fourth area to move the mole out of the yard.
