14 best killing roaches
Killing roaches can be a necessary step in pest control, especially if you have an infestation in your home or garden.Roaches are resilient pests, so it's important to use effective methods to eliminate them. Here are some strategies and products commonly used for killing roaches:
Insecticides: Insecticides are chemical compounds specifically designed to kill roaches and other insects. They come in various forms, including sprays, baits, and powders. When using insecticides, it's crucial to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully, as some products may be toxic to humans and pets.
Roach Baits: Roach baits are an effective method for killing roaches over time. These baits contain a slow-acting poison that roaches ingest and carry back to their nests, where it can eliminate the entire colony. Place baits in areas where roaches are active, such as under sinks, behind appliances, and in dark corners.
Boric Acid: Boric acid is a less toxic alternative to chemical insecticides. It works by damaging the roaches' exoskeleton and dehydrating them. Dust boric acid in areas where roaches are likely to hide, but be cautious when using it around pets and children.
Diatomaceous Earth: Diatomaceous earth is a natural and non-toxic powder that can be used to kill roaches. It works by causing physical harm to roaches when they come into contact with it, ultimately dehydrating and killing them. Apply diatomaceous earth in cracks, crevices, and other hiding places.
Traps: Roach traps, such as sticky traps or glue traps, can be useful for monitoring and capturing roaches. These traps are not always effective for large infestations but can help you identify problem areas.
Professional Pest Control: If your roach infestation is severe or persistent, it may be best to hire a professional pest control service. They have the expertise and access to stronger chemicals and methods to effectively eliminate roaches.
Preventive Measures: To prevent future infestations, practice good sanitation and hygiene in your home. Keep food stored in airtight containers, clean up crumbs and spills promptly, and seal any cracks or openings where roaches can enter. Regularly empty and clean trash cans, as roaches are attracted to food waste.
Natural Remedies: Some natural remedies, such as using a mixture of soap and water in a spray bottle to directly target roaches, can help control small infestations. However, they may not be as effective as commercial products.
Remember that roach control may require patience and persistence, as these pests can be challenging to eradicate completely. It's essential to choose the method that best suits your situation and follow safety guidelines when using any pest control products.

Question: | Can/should I put these behind the kick plate under my cabinets |
Answer: | Hello, Thank you for your question. Our tablets will absolutely work on oriental roaches. Spiders, however, are a different story. I would recommend our 24oz Spider Killer liquid spray specifically for spiders or our Spider Glue Traps. Unfortunately, they are not attracted to the tablets. Best, John |
Question: | If I have a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom kind of large home... will this be enough? or should I buy 2 packs |

Question: | What do we mean by "small" roaches? As is 1 in, 1/2 in or even smaller than that? The few I am seeing are no more than 1 inch in length. Will it work |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why wont it ship to Floral park NY |
Answer: | Actually it really doesn't matter, if you put it under the kick plate of the cabinet or not. ....put it where you think roaches stays a lot or where you see them most. I put mine under the sink, cupboards, corners and near the ovens....I'll suggest to get the gel combat with it to get the maximum protection. ...my problem with roaches is history and I feel safe now that they're not around in terms of getting diseases cause by them. And if I see them, they're dead.....hope this help because I know how it feels to have roaches around. Good luck! |
Question: | once opened does it dry out in the syringe |
Answer: | I also live in a 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment and I've been using the single pack of 16 pieces for the past several years with success.I strategically place the units on all walls that are adjacent to other units. |
Question: | Alright so it's gel, what do i do with it? put spots around the house and they eat it |
Answer: | That's about the size the ones I was dealing with were. I believe they were German roaches, if that helps. Just make sure you use the 12-month ones, the other kinds don't work. I think they probably use stronger stuff in the 12-month ones. |
Question: | After the soft gel is applied it hardens overnight .... Is the gel just as effective once it hardens... thanks |
Answer: | The first question is whether your cat can ingest the "poison". The bait stations are little plastic containers. They have small openings that the roaches go through to get to the bait. I doubt a cat could get its tongue through such a small opening. But they could possibly chew through the plastic container. The second question is if the car did eat the bait, would it harm them? The active ingredient is Fipronil. This is The primary ingredient in many flea treatment products for pets. So dogs and cats apparently tolerate Fipronil well. Fipronil is the active ingredient of this product and is only 1/200 of the bait so the amount contained is very small.given that it is difficult to get at, the amount is very small and Fipronil is already used on cats. .. this world seem to be pet safe. But ultimately you need to make that decision. I would ask your vet about whether your cat could be harmed if they ingested Fipronil from a roach bait trap.i hope this info is helpful. I used peteducation.com and parasitepedia.net as resources - good luck! |

Question: | most comments say counterfeit ..is that true |
Answer: | I put it on the ridges of the insides of the kitchen drawers (the piece that makes them slide in and out), and underneath of my refrigerator and stove. The little applicator makes it so easy, and you never have to touch anything (which is great!) I put this down after seeing one bug a couple of months ago, and I’ve not seen another one. I don’t plan on wiping the paste up anytime soon at all, but when I do clean it away, it will be after at least a solid year and then I’ll reapply more. This product works amazingly well! And the sticky bait can be put in places that are totally out-of-the-way. I’m planning to wait one more month before removing the black plastic baits and washing the insides of my kitchen drawers and all utensils (again). But I’ll still leave the black plastic baits under the kitchen sink. That will be around 90 days or so for me, before I even move any of the originally placed baits at all. This stuff really works! If you do wipe it off, and you still do not see any bugs, please come back and let us know how long you actually ended up leaving it down for. I’ve worked in apt leasing and seen terribly infested apartments treated by a professional only one time, and then maintained with Combat. It is the only product I know of that really does work! :-) |
Question: | Does this product kill waterbugs |
Answer: | Hi there, I wouldn't recommend putting the cases on counters but would recommend to put where the sink cupboard is and warm places like hot water cupboards and under fridge/freezer, or places out of reach. The paste on the combat didn't stick well when I used but I had already bought Advion Syngenta Gel Bait as it had high reviews. I had put this around the counter and door ways and under the cupboards (places where you don't usually wipe clean often) Depending how bad it is I backed it up with borax and lightly powder areas to keep the critters out. The reason why I bought all these products as follows was because I had professionals in and the roaches kept coming back. The steps and items I used are as follows:1. Bed bug and flea Spray - I used this first, empty all cupboards and wipe clean, Use a mask as the spray is highly potent and old lace up shoes and gloves, then spray inside and under fridges, this draws them out from hiding and kills the roaches on contact. After a couple of hours, sweep and mop clean all areas (try to avoid using the vacuum, unless you have an old one to chuck out)and dispose away from house. 2. Then I used the borax and lightly powdered areas ie, under fridges and ovens, hot water cupboards, and on high sills, as this dehydrates them on contact.3. Advion Syngenta Gel Bait - was a breeze to use, the gel was pasted on the counter but more on the wall where under the tiles unseen. Also under and around cupboards and the kitchen door way areas.4. Lastly planting bait traps, hot water cupboard, under the fridge/freezer, behind the oven, under the sink etc.. I disposed of these after a few months.I used all of these products before christmas 2015, and all roaches are still gone. I still have plenty of gel, borax and bed bug and flea spray but keep it just in-case. Hope this helps :) |
Question: | How do you make sure you’re not getting the fake knock off that doesn’t work? Sometimes Amazon sellers send a fake version of this |
Answer: | Combat Max Defense System Brand, Small Roach Killing Bait and Gel is geared to smaller roaches like German roaches. For larger roaches like American and Oriental, we recommend Combat Max for Large Roaches for bait stations and Combat Max Roach Killing Gel for those cracks and crevices that crawling bugs hide. |
Question: | Does this also kill large American cockroaches |
Answer: | There's no definite time in terms of hours or minutes, but there is major Death each morning you check, especially the first week. The first day I put 4 of the circles surrounding the bottom of my fridge and the next morning there was like 100 or so dead under there and 100 or so under the sink. I never thought there was this many as I see maybe 3 roaming in a day so it was shocking. There were also a lot of "dust" from all the fallen legs/wings/parts of the dead roaches. Then after 7 days I only saw 20 adult roaches dead there. The third week I saw maybe 3. Now I see 1 or none after a month so I know the nest was destroyed. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it kill water roaches as well |
Answer: | I would not worry about the "luring" part. From what I've seen it will not lure that far away. But when the roach gets in proximity, its done. I started using this in Alabama. They had what I think they called water bugs. I call them enormous roaches. I use only this bug spray. Wash the floor or vacuums or whatever. pick up all food products nearby. I spray the juncture where the wall meets the floor and spray behind book cases and dressers. Actually, I'm lazy. I put the cat and dog dishes in the fridge now. Once I spray an area like the bedroom and bath, I close it off for an hour or so. Next night, I spray the kitchen and living room at bedtime. The gold can lasts longer. I always prefer it. It works up to 6 months. Just saying, when I moved into my new home, I sprayed closets etc and stuff before I moved in. |
Question: | How long does it take the gel to dry |
Answer: | This spray is listed for ants, spiders & crickets indoors, plus sowbugs, centipedes, silverfish, firebrats, and asian lady beetles/. all indoors. |
Question: | Will this work if i have a bunch of tiny roaches and big ones i probably seen like 500 or less looking for something that will work. Thanks |
Answer: | I would not recommend it. It is poison and the feeder has food in it. It could contaminate it. And even if it doesn't the bird might getting some of the residue of the spray on it and it could make it sick or could kill it. I would better recommend looking for a natural product to put on the item the the feeder is hung on instead. |
Question: | does it kill mice too |
Answer: | Does not say on the bottle and on the internet. So most likely no! |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long can you leave the gel on the cracks before needing to clean/wipe it away |
Answer: | If you have pets you do not treat their food or water. You put Advion where roaches are most likely to travel. Put it where they poop also. I put it under the fridge and the stove, in cracks and crevices where they hide. |
Question: | Can you use this on kitchen counters |
Answer: | No, the product is excellent as long as is fresh. I purchase a 4 tube pk. in January of 2019 and I was not able to eradicate the problem because of the leftover gel wouldn't work, not even 3 months later. Make sure is fresh stock. I have to buy again and I am looking between sellers to see if one put expiration dates. The product is really good works well it is just the shelf life is short. |
Question: | Are the disk openings large enough for large cockroaches (American and/or Oriental species |
Answer: | Currently this product is 0.6% indoxacarb and the Advion Ant Gel is only at 0.05% indoxacarb. This has 12 times more indoxacarb than the ant product. If the ants find this palatable they will eat it. Some ants like carbohydrates like roaches do, so they they will probably eat this. I would not put the weaker ant stuff out with a roach infestation, because it will not kill them and instead they will get more resistant to indoxacarb. |
Question: | How long until roaches die |
Answer: | I reapply once every year usually. But I’ve been known to do every six months as well. It all depends on how bad you have it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why can’t this be delivered to me in California |
Answer: | This product is recommended for the common roach. We do not have any testing information for this specific species. |
Question: | Is it harmful for pets |
Answer: | Yes it does. The bait is in a see thru package. You glue it to a wall (glue attached) or stand it on the ground. When you no longer see the bait, the roaches had dinner and it's time to replace. Takes a long time to use up. I recommend this product 100% |
Question: | How do you clean after treatment ? I accidentally applied some to the floor. If I clean it with bleach will the product still works |
Answer: | The best thing to do with this is the mix it with boiled egg yolks and sugar and make a paste not watery but Sorbet soft and smooth and place them all over the house and in a few weeks or less you will see a bunch of dead roaches |
Question: | Hello.. i bought harris hrs-128 roach killer home pest control 18 month ready-to-use 128oz, clear but didnt get the spray handle |
Answer: | Bugs live in your walls.. so for the best results.. remove all of your outlet plates.. put the pointed tip in and squirt some of the powder into the wall. This should drive the bugs OUT of the walls. About a month or so later put some of the powder around the outside perimeter of your house. DO NOT do this first.. you will only drive the bugs INSIDE. Drive them OUT of the house first.. then when they are gone apply around the outside perimeter to keep them from moving back in to live in your walls. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How does this kill roaches? is there a glue trap inside it? is there bate they eat and return to the nest with? how long until you see progress? thank |
Answer: | I have not sprayed directly on my clothes, when I sprayed the baseboards in the closet, I took the clothes out of the closet and put them in large zippered clothes bags and kept them in the bag while I treated the closet, I washed and dried all the washable clothes and dry cleaned what I could not put in the washing machine. I repeated the same process for clothes in my dresser drawers. I would check with the manufacturer before spraying my clothes, especially since they will touch your skin, you need to be certain that you will not have an allergic reaction . Also I covered my mouth and nose with a dust mask as a further precaution. |

Question: | Does this item work for ants also |
Answer: | Hello, individual package as far as this one that is listed. Hopefully that answer your question. |
Question: | I understand this product expires after about 3 months of use, but does this product have an expiration date if unused still in package |
Answer: | Yes. |
Question: | Do the stations have bait in them |
Answer: | I am terrified of bugs, particularly roaches. I found this product several years ago and use it to keep bugs away, and it works wonderfully. I spray outdoors - outside and around the front and back doors. as well as along the edge of the house on the front porch, and again, it works great. However, I do not spray the entire perimeter of the house so I can not speak for that, and the area outside that I do spray is covered by roof so that it does not wash away quickly. It does seem to be effective outside in the covered areas for sure! Hope this answer helps. A. Miller |
Question: | why do you lie and say they are for large and small when the traps are |
Answer: | Yes sir but the great thing is u see them dead every day for up to a year if u keep water off where I sprayed😃. I send this stuff to my second home in the Azores roaches as big as a small mouse DEAD!!! |
