For me, the nightlight is for use in the dark, and they are perfect for being able to see getting from point A to point B. During the day, when I need to use the plugin to vacuum, I remove it, and plug it back in when I’ve completed my task!

We have it back of our TV and don't need the extensions, but just to be on the safe side.....I don't think I would do it until I got an opinion. They would probably know in your local hardward store or over at Home Depot or Lowe's. For the others you would also have to buy the "DiCUNO E26 3.15-4.13Inch/8-10.5CM Extension Flexible Socket Extender Adapter, E26 to E26 Edison Screw Converter, Lamp Bulb Socket Extension, Lamp Holder Adapter (2-Pack)". Take a look at the pictures to see how the extender works. The 7 bulb unit alone or the 3, 4, 5, bulb unit with the extender will work WITH a recessed can light. Extend unit as far as possible from ceiling, as the recessed can will act as a heat trap, and the units warn "▲Please keep it out of a small confined space for heat dissipation."
