Question: | is this saw made in usa |
Answer: | The nice Customer Rep from Husqvarna said that for the most part it is made in USA with sourced parts made by Husqvarna in a few other countries. Mine says made in USA on the box. There are a good many parts that are cross fit between Poulan and Husqvarna. |
Question: | Does the bar have a roller tip |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Does it come with a case |
Answer: | Yes it does Richard. Thank you for considering Poulan Pro for your outdoor power equipment needs. |
Question: | Which replacement chain should I order |
Answer: | I had to replace my poulan pro chain on day 2 because of tight links causing the chain to jump off the bar. I replaced with an Oregon chain and problem was solved. No more chain jumping and cut faster. Will always replace with Oregon chains in the future. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do you reach to manufacturer to ask questions about weight and warranty |
Answer: | Hi Bernadine. This model chainsaw weights 13 lbs. without cutting equipment. Poulan Pro chainsaws are backed by a 2-year limited warranty. You can find detailed information about our warranty program at: http://www.poulanpro.com/us/support/warranty-coverage/ Thank you for considering Poulan Pro for your outdoor power equipment needs. |
Question: | I cannot get this to start. i am using the same fuel mix i use in two other poulan pro motors but this one just floods and wont start. any advice |
Answer: | Hi Sean. The required fuel mix for this model could be different than the other two. Sometimes is 40:1, while some of our newer chainsaws require 50:1. It's a good idea to check the user manual that came with the product to be absolutely certain of the correct fuel+oil mix. You should have gotten a sample bottle of premixed fuel with purchase? It's also important to follow the starting steps from your manual. If you no longer have your manual handy, you can download a PDF on our website at: http://www.poulanpro.com/us/support/owners-manuals/We also have a handy FAQ section on our website where you can find answers to some of the most commonly asked questions by product category. Question: | who is the seller on the poulan pro 5020, ive seen toooooo many answers that seem political , in as much NO elaboration upon anything, just a passoff |
Answer: | The Poulan chain saw is doing good now. At first, we had a problem keeping it running, eating up chains, for now, it is working fine. |
Question: | Is this saw good for falling trees and cutting firewood |
Answer: | Based on my experience, it works well for trees up to about 2 1/2 ft in diameter but you need to rotate the tree if it is bigger than about 18 inches. There are more powerful saws for professional use on big trees, but most homeowners will do fine with it. It really comes down to how often you need a chainsaw. I dropped an 18" tree and cut it to firewood length in one day. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would it work well as an Alaskan mill |
Answer: | Would not work well for an Alaskan mill. Not enough power to cut the length of a green log. |
Question: | What oil and gas does it take? And what is the ratio |
Answer: | Hello Karaminka. Thanks for your question. The chainsaw is a 2-stroke engine with a 50:1 mix. Here are the directions for mixing the fuel and oil in the owner's manual: Mix 2.6 oz. of full synthetic 2-Cycle Oil with 1 gallon of gasoline for a 50:1 mixture. Shake well. Pour into fuel tank. CAUTION: Do not use alternate fuels such as ethanol blends above 10% by volume (E-15, E85) or any methanol blended fuel. Thank you for considering Poulan Pro for your outdoor power equipment needs. |
Question: | would the polen 20 inch bar work with this saw? ty |
Answer: | no |
Question: | What HP is this model |
Answer: | The model number gives you some details. For example, the PR4016 specifies it's 40cc with a 16" chain bar. However, I wasn't able to find anything suggesting what the horsepower might be. That doesn't seem to be uncommon. Few manufacturers, except those making the very large, expensive, models, provide horsepower numbers. By the way, contrary to the other guy's (rudely out of place) comment, it's not "a piece of junk." Mine has worked just fine for two cutting seasons. Now buying another as backup, and to spread the work to reduce wear & tear on either one. |

Question: | What is the overall length of this chainsaw? From chain tip to handle end |
Answer: | 30 1/4" |
Question: | Can anyone explain the difference between the 435E and the 440E besides the price? The descriptions for both are identical |
Answer: | Hi Ryan. It's subtle, but the 440E has a slightly higher horsepower (2.4 vs. 2.2). It also has a larger fuel tank. Thank you for considering Husqvarna for your outdoor power equipment needs. |
Question: | I read in a review that these saws require 89 octane fuel. Is that correct |
Answer: | Yes, but you’re better off using an ethanol-free 2 cycle mix like TruFuel. Protects the carburetor and it’s 92 octane |
Question: | Why does the 440e II saw that I just purchased not have the tool-less chain tensioner a advertised and specified in the accompanying manual |
Answer: | Hey Michael, The 440E II Husqvarna chainsaw sold in the US features all the updates of the E-series saw minus the tool-less chain tensioning. The manual may discuss the European 440E II chainsaw which does include the tool-less chain tensioning. I apologize for the confusion here. User questions & answers
Question: | How many drive links |
Answer: | In my review I explained how to count. The bar normally would be stamped as to how many DL these bars aren't. So your best solution is to count the tear drops beneath the cutter chisels of the chain. The DL is not seen when chain is resting on bar. Find one mark it and start counting.. |
Question: | Can I use 40:1 mixture in premix cans |
Answer: | Sure you can. You can also add more 2 stroke oil to your premix to get it to 25-1 or 20-1. Getting your ratio on the lower end will help the motor last longer |
Question: | Can I install 24 inch bar |
Answer: | I don't believe you can. I've seen there are chains for 18", 20" and 22 inch. Of course a new bar and chain would be required. Remember that engine is calibrated for up to 22" bar. We had a large maple tree cut down in our yard and cut 35" dia trunks down with no problem. You need to learn the process of downing. |
Question: | how big of a tree can it cut?i need it for big oak trees |
Answer: | Not sure but it cuts very well just make sure to keep an eye on fuel and bar and chain oil fill as needed if your cutting big trees |

User questions & answers
Question: | is the chain a 16 inch 56 or 16 inch |
Answer: | thanks, that is what I needed to know. my old was 16 inch , 56 and have several chains. |
Question: | Is the case hard or soft |
Answer: | It’s a hard case. |
Question: | Do you have to mix the gas and oil |
Answer: | Yes! You must run a gas/oil mix or you will destroy the engine. |
Question: | Is it posible to convert it to 18 inchbar/chain verses buying a new chain saw thanks |
Answer: | You *could* put a 20 inch bar on there as well but that is going even further into crazy. If you were going to depart from the factory bar, go to the smaller 14 inch bar, NOT a larger 18 inch bar. THAT will make it seem like a new chainsaw. The problem is the size engine is barely large enough to pull the chain and bar that it has. When the chain is really sharp it does alright. If you want to get an 18 inch saw you need at least a 50 cc engine. You can do it with less engine , but it will take you a LOT longer than it should and you'll be on the verge of overheating the engine (and ruining it) more often than not. This saw really should have a 14 inch bar on it. Or keep your chains really chart all the time. If you are only going to use it to prune branches, then yes, an 18 inch bar will be okay and easier to use. Pruning small branches is not demanding on a saw so the longer bar means you'll just have to bend over less. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the oil/gas ratio |
Answer: | same as any chain saw ... not different ...but if you add in a little bit more oil that is even better ... |
Question: | what chain does this use oregon S |
Answer: | Hi Thomas, Thanks for your interest! The manual suggests the color match from Poulan, color red or part, 952051211. If you search the number on Amazon, it shows 3 chains. One by Poulan (suggested), Oregon, or a generic brand. We suggest the one that is in the manual part 952051211. Not to say that the others can't be used, just following what the manual says. We hope this helps! |
Question: | i need to replace my chain... can you give the part information |
Answer: | Hi Fin. Part # for the chain for this model should be 581562201. That's a 16" chain with 3/8" pitch and 0.050" gauge. However, it’s important that you check the user manual that came with your chainsaw for the recommended bar lengths, as well as chain pitch and gauge. Only those recommended sizes and specs will provide optimal performance. The user manual lists lengths, pitch and gauge “certified for” each chainsaw. Certifications are based on a chainsaw platform, so depending on the 9-digit SKU # for your chainsaw, the chain I've recommended above may or may not be the correct pitch and gauge. Most likely it's correct since most Poulan and Poulan Pro chainsaws use the standard chain specs. Hopefully that makes sense. Thank you so much for choosing Poulan Pro for your outdoor power equipment needs. |
Question: | can i put a 18inch bar on this saw |
Answer: | Yes but I would go with the bigger 7/32 file chain and stick with 14 to 16 bar and it will be a monster |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this chain fit a poulan 18" PP4218chainsaw |
Answer: | Sorry, I do not know the answer to that question. Sounds like a question for Poulan Pro. I would like to know where I can get a replacement guide bar for the trimmer. The ones I have seen advertised are not the same as the OEM bar. I'm trying to clean up my property after Hurricane Michael and I need a new guide bar ASAP. |
Question: | Does this come in the original Poulan chainsaw package factory sealed with a color code yellow like the picture shows |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | I have a poulan 18 inch "wild thing" chainsaw. will the poulan pro chain fit the "wild thing" correctly |
Answer: | The 12 foot reach is any average height person holding the saw safely standing on the ground. So to be clear, 12ft is the measurement from the ground to saw tip with someone using it. |
Question: | Is this a 3/8 large pitch or small pitch |
Answer: | Hello dan. Thanks for your question. 4-stroke is the same as 4-cycle. Thank you for considering Poulan Pro for your outdoor power equipment needs. |
