Answer:	I have not had this experience and I don't always keep it covered. Could be your climate conditions. I've had mine for about 7 months with no issues other than the igniter doesn't work very well.

Answer:	Nope. The lid will sit on it just fine without the grate. We've never even used the grate!

Answer:	Always use this appliance on a hard, level, non-combustible surface such as concrete, rock, or stone. Do not use it on wooden decks, or combustible deck of any sort, grass, leaves, asphalt, or blacktop.
Question:	How much propane do you go through for 3 hour fire
Answer:	No grate for the bottom. There's a grill rack that goes above. I don't expect to get more than a few years out of this but it is light weight and easy to move around.

Question:	What are the dimensions of the fire pit part in center of this, where the rocks are? I may buy a glass shield and am wondering what size it should be
Answer:	Hard to answer as depends on how big of a flame you have. For the two of us sitting close, we start out with higher flame, then, as coals get hot, turn it down as it provides quite a bit of heat. We bought a 2 1/2 gallon tank and for the two of us, it lasted about 7-10 hours. Hope that helps.
