Answer:	We recommend using only sunflower seeds or peanuts with this feeder. Depending on the size of the fruit and nut mix, it may be too large or too small for the holes in the feeder.

Answer:	We used a wire coat hanger. There is a loop on the end of the birdfeeder to hook onto. I think perky pet makes a scroll that you can use as well. It probably looks alot better hanging from the scroll.

Answer:	This can be hung from a pole with a bracket. The tray is about 1/2" tall and the several slots along the bottom of the clear dispenser are 1 1/2" wide by less than 1/2" tall. Some spillage for any bird feeder is normal. It is a nice looking feeder.

Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide birds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it. In hotter climates or seasons, providing water for birds makes it easy for them to have access to a water source and retain their energy. Q. What are the most popular bird seeds to use?

Answer:	Our mix is Sam's brand, a (40 pound bag), mostly sunflower seeds, even has broken peanuts and some fruit in the mix so sunflower seeds are no problem in ours. This feeder don't have to be removed from it's hanging place, just push the button to raise the roof and pour the seeds in. Ours is 1.5 years old and in Fla and is still fine.

Answer:	This is probably the best feeder I have for keeping seeds from getting moldy. I use it for golden safflower and it dries out quickly if it gets wet or snowed on. The tray does have plenty of holes but is shallow so sometimes there is a small amount of build up of wet seed to wipe off but very easy to do.
Question:	I have a problem with morning doves eating the safflower seed that I put out for cardinals. Does anyone know if doves can sit on this feeder
Answer:	Carefully wire the mesh up so that the sitting area is shorter. I did this , little by little, until I got to the height that the morning dives could NOT get on the feeder. Cardinals and smaller birds can still easily feed. Also use safflower seed which eliminates alot of unwanted birds!

Answer:	Or.....you can put a squirrel feeder for ears of corn nearby so the squirrels have some place to feed.

If you use mixed bird seed then the seed will all fall out from the large holes.Several times the squirrels will climb onto the top and tilt it but the sunflower seed will not fall out. Also, it really is squirrel-proof cause the squirrels can only get one seed at a time since the top locks.I love this feeder - it is the best for all birds!

Answer:	I have had my feeder up for a week now and I have not had one bird fly to it, or even come near it. I too have a regular feeder about 5 ft away and I think they use it instead. I'm convinced that this feeder is really good only if you don't have anywhere else for the birds to eat.

Answer:	Forget about it if you have squirrels. I bought it figuring they could not jump on to the curved sides. They can't. However, the two suction cups barely hold the feeder to the window. As soon as a squirrel jumps on it the feeder falls to the ground and the squirrel feasts!
Question:	Do the birds leave much of a mess around when using this feeder
Answer:	Yes, you can have a mess. Birds drop seeds and hulls drop on the ground around the feeder (2nd floor balcony in my case). Smaller birds sometimes hop inside and scratch around looking for the seed they want. This will push smaller seeds and hulls out the front opening or between the feeder and glass. If the feeder is full of birds (2 or 3), other birds wait around elsewhere on our balcony waiting their turn... pooping on the patio table and chairs, etc.. I came here to see if anyone had suggestions on how to keep the mess down :)

Answer:	I have a squirrel proof pole so I don't have that problem but I know the plastic gets pretty brittle a several months after being exposed to California sunlight. I hope this helps.

Answer:	I am not sure...my feeders are about 12' from a large window. It is fascinating to watch them eat upside down. I have attracted Goldfinches and House Finches (red head). I love these feeders. I even feed finches in the winter. Without the finch food in the winter I never see Goldfinches.

Answer:	You do get the 399 feeder, not the 480 garden song as pictured under "Product Description." This is our second one (for backup if the first should break). Amazing. Never had so many goldfinches and the sparrows have given up trying to figure it out.

Answer:	I don't find a lot of the seed on the ground. The openings are small slits and the seed has to be pulled from the feeder. Currently I have two finches and one chickadee that visit on a regular basis and the seed level does not drop quickly. My last feeder was flimsy and the squirrels destroyed it in a weekend. I hung this one in a higher tree away from my regular feeders and nothing has bothered it.

Answer:	This is Texas. Hummingbird’s arrive in May and leave 1st cold snap in October. Water barely freezes in Dec/Jan. It’s 73 out right now.

However I will let you know that I didn't get any hummingbirds with this mixture but after making my own I had quite a few everyday. 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water, bring to boil for 2 minutes and then let cool. Store leftovers in the refrigerator. I just adjusted the quantities and made enough for 2 feeders.

Answer:	Please don't buy anything with artificial red color. The Audubon Society recommends making your own with regular sugar. 4 parts water to 1 part sugar. (1/4 cup sugar to 1 cup boiling water).
