No software is needed and, in fact, the iCue software downloadable from the Corsair website just screws up the K55, so don't install it until Corsair updates it. If you've already downloaded it and experienced bugs in the keyboard, DELETE IT immediately and you'll see how much better the K55 works. There are 8 RGB colors available, but the K55 doesn't have individually-lit keys, only a three-zone system. Therefore, customization isn't as flexible as, say, a $200 mechanical keyboard. What did you expect for $50? Still, the colors are pretty impressive.

The iCue software interferes with the K55's Fn key functions and makes the macro keys misfire (among other undesireable effects). That's not to say that iCue is bad—it works with other, older Corsair hardware—just not the latest hardware offering from Corsair, the K55. If you've already downloaded iCue for use with the K55, I suggest you delete it. It doesn't provide much more functionality for the K55 than the built-in lighting options anyway, so you're not sacrificing much by deleting it—just making the keyboard more reliable. The K55's three-zone RGB LEDs makes it impossible to do things like the "spiral rainbow" (which require individually addressable key lighting instead of a three-zone system). But a very impressive "rainbow wave" effect is built into the K55's onboard hardware (fun!).

Answer:	According to leapfrog.com, "Books with LeapStart™ 3D logo feature animations on the LeapStart™ 3D system only." So, the 3D books play audio on the older LeapStart system but will not have the 3D animations. I have not tested this personally yet.
