| Answer: | There is an inner sleeve tube and an outer clamp, the hose itself fits in between those two things. It the hose is strong enough to stand the pressure of the tight clamp without damage then it will work. Expansible hoses may not be strong enough. I would look on youtube for videos of repairing expansible hoses and see if these type of repair kits in general work on those types of hoses. Also someone reading your question may have tried them on an expandable hose, and so they would know better than I. |

Perhaps yours is like this and may need tightened.How long has your unit been in service? As if residual water was in there over the winter it could have frozen and cracked.My two new Ames Hose Kings, have a threaded male hose connection. Some bargain hoses have female collet receptacles that simply are too sloppy in their thread spec and/or inside dimention. Then there are washers, that do deteriorate. Don't by the cheap plastic ones, get a good rubber washer, as it can even make a poor coupler work well enough.Hope this helps! |

I live in a humid climate (Southeast Texas) where we get a lot of humidity and direct sun on the reel, and mine last ten years, but I'm ok with that. I have tried several hose reels and this one is the best I can find. |
