Answer:	Yes this works without batteries and with out external electricity source when plugged into a traditional telephone landline service. Digital Phone like xfinity or At&t U-Verse may not work in a power outage because the phone line will be powered by a cable modem/router which gets it's power from your 120vac wall outlet. I bought a UPS battery backup formy cable modem and PC so they stay powered on for up to 60 min on a power outage. Assuming the cable provider still has electricity and their servers and internet don't go down, you should still have phone service. Even cellular companies can lose electricity causing an phone outage. Historically Old fashioned landline has been the most reliable in power outages.

It is a little time consumer to find and size photos to a 1"x1" size but it does make the phone very easy to use.

Answer:	We have not had an outage since I have owned this, but since it is a land-line phone I assume the phone will work on the old type phone lines, but maybe not the answering unit. (This is why some keep a landline phone for another kind of security.) I am definitely not a techie so double check this.

Answer:	The remote handset no but has speaker phone. The base has the plug in handset which can be removed so I am assuming a headset jack that can answer and hang up the phone may work

Answer:	I can confirm, except for the cordless handset, yes, it does! We don't have reliable power in the deep cold of winter or the hottest times in summer, which is why we always keep a landline. It won't work if your phones company is cable, however. Nor will you see the displays when the electric goes out but, this type of phone is essential for potential emergencies.

Question:	what is the battery life
Answer:	Only have had the phone since June 2013 and have not replaced any batteries.
Question:	When calling somebody, the person on the other line can not hear anything. Is this because a DSL filter is needed or do I have a defective product
Answer:	The DSL filter allows you to use the phone on the same line as a computer. The person on the end of the line should be able to hear you with or without the filter as long as the call went through. Check to see if the Mute button has been inadvertently pressed. It lights up red at the lower left side of your phone. When it's on, the person you're talking to can't hear you. If that's not it, you can call Customer Servive at (800) 222-3111 or go to www.telephones.att.com. Hope this helped.
Question:	can you plug up a headset
Answer:	Yes, via the handset jack on the phone base. Note the handset extension cord in "bought together", also check instruction manual and you'll see that the handset cord is a separate piece. But, note Micubed1's comment. This does NOT have a 2.5 mm jack. You need to use a headset with amplifier that plugs into the handset jack (RJ11). Jabra is an example.
Question:	Why does it need batteries? Doesn't the wall jack supply all the power it needs
Answer:	It needs batteries to power the caller ID display. It only has to plug into the phone jack & doesn't require an electrical outlet (one of the reasons I picked this set). We're extremely pleased with this phone!

Answer:	Correct, phone works on touchtone lines, not pulse or rotary lines...

Answer:	The term "Carrier" refers to your local telephone company that installs live phone jacks in your home. If however, you already have live phone jacks installed, there is no need to call them.
Question:	Does this phone have a volume control that can be set loudly so the hearing impaired owner can hear it ring
Answer:	There is a light on it that flashes when ringing. It is loud but I have heard louder rings. Sorry I don't recall it having an adjustable ringer. My Mom has hearing issues and she can hear it. Good luck.

Answer:	Yes. it works very well in 220v 60Hz. I have used in this condition. I measured output volt for this adapter in two case( etc. 220v and 110v). The output volt was same at 5v.

Answer:	While the unit is a two extension system, you can add additional extensions. I purchased two of these 2 extension systems and paired all 4 of the extensions off of one base with the extra base acting as a charger only. The extensions display the numbers "1", "2", "3" and "4" and all work with all features. Just make sure you pair them all to only one base. I purchased two sets rather than expansion handsets because it was more cost effective.
