Answer:	Yes. Depending on the software you use,.... It comes with Audacity and you can also download Audacity online. I already had it so.... Using Audacity to record, it saves as an Audacity file. Again, using Audacity, you can then convert to wav, mp3, or other formats. It does not automatically record to mp3, it records as a digital file, not mp3. So to answer your question, once recorded as a digital file, you can convert to mp3, yes.

How To Convert Your Old Cassette Tapes?

Connect the recorder to your laptop using the USB cable. And plug in the headphone so that you don't have to hear 2 volumes: one from the tape and the other from the laptop. All audio sounds goes from the recorder directly to the laptop if (for the microphone option), you use the USB option. Therefore, if you make a lot of noise at your desk, none of the sounds will be capture in the WAV file. By controlling the volume on the recorder, you directly influence the loudness of the recording.

While you are recording, don’t put anything electronic near the player (cell phone, tv remote, game controller, etc) or it will make a buzzing noise on your recording and you will have to start over.

How to have the best sound quality?

1. use an outside wall charger (not included) or 2 AA batteries to power the cassette player while recording. Be sure to keep it away from your computer monitor or other electronics while you are using it. If it's turned a certain way near a monitor, noise will come through on your transfer. By moving 4-5 ft away from PC area the issue cleared completely.
2. Depending on the age and quality of your cassette tape, you may hear background air or something that sounds like a hum. The reason is the actual "tape" is magnetic and looses it's strength over time. This does not mean the cassette player is faulty. But, with Audacity you can remove background noise and that's a major plus.
3. Use the option in Audacity to monitor audio as it's playing, and experiment with volume setting. If you set the volume on max on the player, it will introduce more noise. Lower it until the loudest sound only reaches about 75% in the wavelength window. That's a good audio setting for mastering in a studio, and the same applies here

Answer:	The mixed answers here might be because of the following behavior: You have to plug the device into the usb port *AFTER* launching the application. If the device is already plugged in then it does not record any sound. Answer:	After recording into audacity select all then choose File/export audio/. Then select or create the export location. Then name the audio file and choose type of file to export from the drop down list where the default type is wave file. It will show mp3. The mixed down file will then export automatically as a mp3 to your specified location.

Answer:	I have found that the capture doesn't have speakers so it is difficult to get the MAC to accept it and bring it back through. Especially since my mac doesn't have a cd-rom, I have been improvising myself to death. If anyone else has been doing this, you might try to find a way to create a speaker format

Answer:	I wondered the same thing. I haven't used it lately, but I remember a blinking icon when it was recording. I'll set mine up and look again.

Answer:	Yes, you can play your favorite cassettes and record them to a USB/FlashDrive. Note, if you want to have separate tracks, you will need to press record before and after each song; otherwise you will just have 1 long track that includes all songs on one side of the tape. Hopefully that answers your question! You can do the same to record to flashdrive from the radio or vinyl record. I have not tried recording from bluetooth or AUX to a flashdrive, but I imagine the process would be about the same.
