10 best 35 mm films
35mm film is a photographic film format that has a long history and is still used by photographers and filmmakers today. Here is some information about 35mm film:
Film Format: 35mm film, also known as 135 film, is a popular photographic film format that measures 35 millimeters in width. It is one of the most widely used film formats in the history of photography.
Exposure Frames: A standard 35mm film roll typically contains 24 or 36 exposure frames, although there are variations with different frame counts. Each frame is a single photograph.
Film Types: There are various types of 35mm film, including black and white (B&W), color negative, and color reversal (also known as slide or transparency) films. Each type has its unique characteristics and is used for different purposes.
Film Speed: Film speed, measured in ISO (formerly ASA), determines the sensitivity of the film to light. Common ISO ratings for 35mm film include ISO 100, ISO 200, ISO 400, and higher. Higher ISO films are more sensitive to light but may exhibit more grain in the images.
Processing: After taking photos with 35mm film, it needs to be developed and processed in a darkroom or by a professional lab. The process involves developing the latent image on the film into visible photographs.
Scanning: In the digital age, many photographers and archivists use slide negative scanners to convert their 35mm film images into digital format. These scanners are specialized devices that can produce high-quality digital versions of the original film images.
Aspect Ratio: 35mm film has a standard aspect ratio of 3:2, which is similar to the aspect ratio of most digital cameras. This aspect ratio is well-suited for printing standard-sized photographs.
Historical Significance: 35mm film has a rich history in both photography and cinema. It was the primary format for motion pictures during the 20th century and played a pivotal role in the development of photography.
Archival Quality: When properly stored, 35mm film negatives can have excellent archival quality, preserving images for many years. Proper storage involves keeping the film in a cool, dry, and dark environment.
Artistic Use: Some photographers and filmmakers continue to use 35mm film for its unique aesthetic qualities, such as grain and color rendition. It is also favored for its tangible and tactile nature in a digital world.
In summary, 35mm film is a versatile and historically significant photographic medium that offers various film types, aspect ratios, and creative possibilities. Despite the widespread adoption of digital photography, many enthusiasts and professionals still appreciate the distinctive qualities of 35mm film and continue to use it for artistic and archival purposes.

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you ship to Thailand or not |
Answer: | You could but faster film/higher ISO would be better for underwater. |
Question: | How many pictures can I take with one roll of film |
Answer: | What I received was in good date, but that was six months or so ago. That does not guarantee what is currently being shipped. My experience is that the bigger on line photo specialty stores do a good job of shipping properly stored, in date film. It's more difficult to determine what you will get from the smaller, "no name" outfits. That being said, amateur film like Fuji 200 is manufactured with the expectation that it will sit around a while and not always be stored properly. Professional film on the other hand is intended to be used and processed promptly and does fare well with abuse. If you receive an out of date batch, you can always process a trial roll before you use it for important photos. You can then refrigerate the batch to retard further aging. Just make sure to remove it from the frig several hours before use. This is what professionals do with all their film. |
Question: | will the 400 work in a nikon fg |
Answer: | Yes that is correct. You will get 3 - 36 exposure films in your box. So three films with a total of 108 exposures. |
Question: | Is this type of film only debeloped in dark rooms or also stores |
Answer: | The expiration date on our film is 2/22. |

User questions & answers

Answer: | 3 options: a) buy a digital scanner for the negatives (expensive), b) learn how to hand develop (very timely but cheaper over time), or c) find a local print store to do it for you! if you have no small print/photo stores, major chains like Walgreens and Walmart often have services, but may cost more and more often than not will not return your negatives. |
Question: | Will this work with an olympus stylus epic zoom 170 deluxe camera |
Answer: | The results are just gonna be negative film, but when you process, you can choose to have it in b&w or color. I had the film process in color. |

Answer: | Hello, yes it is Imaging Edge, you can download it for free from our website. It comes with three pieces of software, Remote to shoot tethered or wireless depending on your camera model. Edit, to develop your RAW images, combine pixel shift pictures and View to review and organize your pictures. |
Question: | Will it work with mac's new os, high sierra |
Answer: | Yup, really nice to not have 4K limitations time limitation. Wish it would be possible with the A7R III with firmware |
Question: | There are so many bad reviews for this product. What's a better alternative at this price range |
Answer: | a7R3 with MC-11 adapter for Canon lenses "hunts" a LOT and for me was not acceptable except to use on manual for macro work. Thus, I expect the adapters will not work for the R4 either. You would not want to buy this great camera and then use Canon lenses. Besides the functionality questions, from a business perspective, Canon and Nikon are getting so far behind Sony and are way undercapitalized compared to Sony, I see their problem getting worse and Sony continuing to rapidly gain market share. The value of my Canon lenses dropped dramatically in the time it took me to bite the bullet and sell all my Canon equipment. |

All in all, with the top-version SilverFast software, it helps make a difference to the scanning results and ensures to archive the film in an optimal way.

Powerful Color Management System
Accurate color is the basis for those who want to make sure the colors are exactly as they want because one image might look different when it is viewed in a light booth, viewed on different monitors, or even printed on different printers. The color difference leads to confusion and feelings. Therefore, color management is an important topic for those who are very serious about their photography and artworks. Color management is the process of controlling the way colors are represented across various devices.
OpticFilm 8200i Ai gives the best solution for calibrating the color and easy workflow. With the 35mm IT8 target and the auto IT8 calibration tool of SilverFast Ai Studio, color calibrates the film scanner in just two mouse click and 2 minutes. It can analyze the scanned file to characterize the specific color reading capabilities and compares the measuring table, which is built per under the ISO-Norm 12641, to a reference file associated with your color target. The difference between the two is mapped into and generates its unique color profile. The calibration and characterization of image devices help ensure that during the production process, an image is reproduced as accurately as possible.
iSRD - a highly reliable and comprehensive solution for infrared-based dust and scratch removal.
Slides and negatives always have small dust particles and tiny scratches on them, even when handled very carefully. Removing them one-by-one takes a tremendous amount of time, since often hundreds or thousands of small defects (dust grains or lint) are found on the original image, which only becomes visible after digitization. PlustekOpticFilm has a reliable solution to this problem.
The OpticFilm 8200i scanner has an infrared channel that finds all the the dust and scratches on the film surface. The infrared light has a very wide wave-length, which allows it to pass through film emulsion of negatives and slides without resistance, as opposed to scratches and dust particles that reflect it.
iSRD utilizes this behavior as follows (Automatic)
- Step 1 : Use white light for regular RGB scan.
- Step 2 : Use infrared scan that captures defects like dust and scratches only.
- Step 3 : Maker the dust and scratch on image.
- Step 4 : Calculative dust and scratch removal takes effect, only where the infrared channel has detected any defects without losing any important details.
In conclusion, OpticFilm 8200i Series can automatically remove the dust and scratches from the scanned image.
Dust and scratches are removed during the scanning process, eliminating the need for post-process removal.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the tv jack for? the manual said it is a phone jack, but none of tv has a phone plug |
Answer: | While it's true that camera "film" can't be exposed to light, DEVELOPED film becomes a "negative", which CAN be exposed to light. So far, I've converted about 200 35 mm slides to digital photos without any problems. I haven't tried using negatives yet, but I'm sure the result will be the same. It's a fantastic little machine. |
Question: | Can this scan 120 film |
Answer: | With a Mac, you have to save images to an SD card or the device's built-in memory (only 128 MB). Then you choose USB Upload and you can transfer the images to your computer. |
Question: | Are the Reels for 8mm film scanning included or are they an extra cost? None are shown in the advertisement |
Answer: | I'm not sure about that as I have only produced a digital image from a negative. |
Question: | Does this connect to the computer to save the photos onto hard drive or do you need the SD card |
Answer: | Not being an expert on the computer, I am not sure what "ntsc" means, but I do NOT use an sd card with my Kodak Scanner. I have the scanner plugged directly into my laptop, and the digital images go straight to the E drive, from where I easily put them into folders under My Pictures. So far I have done about 1,100 slides, and I am so very happy with the quality of the digital images. I also have had fun editing for brightness and color. Many of my digital images are better than the original slides! I am extremely happy with this product. |
