Answer:	It would be a great uke for a beginner. It has a lovely mellow tone and is quite nice looking as well. It has held tune very well, too. I bought this as a starter uke for my son and I was quite pleased with the quality. Now just to remind you, this is a baritone uke which is different from a soprano uke. Different tuning. It's tuned like a guitar and has a lower, fuller tone than the soprano uke. But I think this will be a great uke for you. It's economical but still looks and sounds great. In response to Andrew's answer below, please don't believe that this is not a "proper uke". Just as there is a soprano, a tenor, and an alto sax, there are also baritone and soprano ukes. They are all "proper" but just different and they have very different sounds and personalities. I'm 56 and have been playing the baritone since I was 12 and it's a great instrument.

Answer:	We were prepared to tune this new ukulele for at least a week or so until the strings settled. Most of strings stayed in tune almost perfectly after a few tunings. The E string is the only one that resisted for several days, and now the strings only need slight fine tuning!

Answer:	This is an ukulele instrument , The Baritone size is the largest in the Ukulele "world". It is only to be tuned like the first 4 string of the standard guitar. E-B-G-D. I play the classical (nylon strings( guitar and it has also 18 frets. There be no difference or shorter of notes. The only difference is the scale length the distance from the Nut to the top of the saddle- being a shorter size instrument the frets are just closer together, Much easier to play for people with shorter fingers. The over all length of any Baritone Ukulele is just under 30 inches long. Enjoy.
Question:	What is the difference between this and the MK-B? Several people complained of the stings on the MK-B. Does this have the same stings as the MK-B
Answer:	The MK-B is from Kala's entry level line of instruments. I've played both baritones (the MK-B and the KA-B) The strings are MUCH better on the KA-B. But for an entry level instrument, the MK-B is a pretty good sounding instrument. I'd recommend paying a little more if you can and getting the KA-B. It sounds fantastic!!!!

Answer:	Yes, our ukes are all in standard tuning, but could easily changed to an alternate tuning if someone wished to. The nylon strings are fairly flexible and a fair amount more malleable than the average set of guitar strings.

Answer:	The pickup defaults to tuning first. Then you press the tuner's power button off and it works as a pickup. It ALWAYS defaults to the tuner first. If you're in the middle of a set and you want to unplug then you have to turn the volume off on the uku or power off on the amp.

Answer:	The seller should have that info. The frets stick out and cut your fingers so they must be filed smooth to the edge prior to playing.
Question:	do i need new strings to tune it to dgbe - i feel like i would break the strings to tune it from gcea to dgbe
Answer:	I bought this for a child and I don't remember if the strings were steel, steel wrapped nylon or just plain nylon. I doubt they will break if they are nylon. You could tune it in increments. Tune it up two steps, let it sit a day or two and do it again. Tune it in a warm environment. You could also tune down a fourth instead of up a fifth if you are that worried.

Answer:	No. A baritone uke uses DGBE strings. Tune your uke to these notes : Lower string E, string above it B, next stering up G, top string D.
