User questions & answers

Question: are these okay to use on tenors as a substitute for felt tenor sticks
Answer: The bead chain was approx. 12" long. I cut the chain down to 8" so it could be used different cymbals depending on the setting and cymbal sound you want.I switch around from 21", 20" & am currently using it with a with a 19" ride.
Question: Are these okay clean specifically the felt? My pair was already a little bit dirty
Answer: The weight of the chain is the only difference, one is heavier with larger beads, they are the same length and mount the same way...I got them some time ago, and they are not in their original packaging now so I am not sure which is which, I would guess S stands for small and R for regular, hopefully you can tell from the listing...I use the larger on a China cymbal and it enhances attack while limiting sustain...great tool for a "now I have a riveted cymbal and now I don't" without spending a fortune...I got both as they were relatively inexpensive, and I'm glad I did as their effect on a cymbal is different from one to the other and from cymbal to cymbal...hope this helps but re-reading it...I dunno!
Question: Is the $21.99 price for the pair, or individual stick price
Answer: i have one and the bars are Padauk. Padauk is an African hardwood. I play it next to a very old Rosewood xylophone and find the two sound very similar. The colors are the same and the Padauk has slightly more porous appearance than Rosewood. I am very happy with the instrument. Steve
Question: How do these mallets sound on toms
Answer: This xylophone is an acoustic instrument and relatively loud. It does not have an output but microphones could be used for additional amplified volume.

Question: are these eligible for the da'ddario point system
Answer: I have zero idea what that is. These sticks are great for students. For me they are too lite and the tear drop tip has no rebound bvuz it is sloped shape.
Question: are these a skinnier stick than the 5 a
Answer: 7a drumsticks are thinner and lighter than 5a sticks. The 7a sticks are used in Jazz were the drummer does not need to play as loud.
Question: What is the exact length and diameter of an la special 7a wood tip drumstick
Answer: 15 1/2
Question: Whats the difference between these and the regular 5a pro mark
Answer: These are just the sticks that weren’t up to pro mark standard. Same sticks, just might have a slight warp or weight variation. 80% of them tend to be fine. I use these to practice with, then play shows with pro mark.

Question: Is the price listed for one mallet or two
Answer: No does not come off.
Question: can these mallets be used for marimba
Answer: Yes, mine came in the cardboard sleeve.
Question: Do these mallets have wooden handles or plastic handles
Answer: You really can't tell, it feels all natural hickory wood. It looks lightly clear coated though
Question: Can these be used for bells/xylophone in middle school band
Answer: Are you referring to marching tenors? They might be a bit hard for that. Its designed for use primarily with timpani and suspended cymbal, but is also used for concert toms. My initial thoughts would be they would be a bit too firm to be used in place of felt tenor mallets. Feel free to experiment, of course, but I'm guessing you'll find them too firm. Best of luck!

User questions & answers

Question: Can these be used for classic snare druming
Answer: Yes. Just note that the rebound is weaker than sticks.
Question: I just ordered the Promark H-Rods Hot Rods Drumn sticks. Is the red band suppose to move up and down to change the sound of the sticks
Answer: Free Tip: I put about three wraps of duct tape around the outside of the mid-stick plastic band. I use the taped part of the stick on the thin edge of a cymbal for washes and quiet cymbal rolls - it is a bit like having fuzzy cymbal mallets already in your hands, and it doesn't noticeably affect the stick weight.
Question: Do these damage drum heads? It seems like the sharp 90 - degree rod tips would damage heads pretty easily
Answer: I never had any head damage due to using the H-Rods. If you are using them properly most of the rods hit the rim of the snare drum to snap the ends to the head. That is just my opinion and method of use..... Keith
Question: How are these compared to the vic firth tala wands
Answer: I use both. I have the bamboo tala wand. The tala wand is an improvement on the rebound, so rudiments can be played faster, but the hotrods can be abused more and once the hotrod's are broke in they have a more brushy sound. So for lighter technical work the tala wands. For the high energy without worry about getting loud, the hotrods.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this sold as a pair or just a single stick
Answer: I use them to play my Himalayan singing bowl and gong. Both types of instruments are made out of metal. I have not noticed any unusual wear. The mallets are comfortable to use. I am unsure of the material of the bells/xylophone you intent to use them with, but for my purposes, they are still in great shape. I do recommend that you look for some sort of case to transport them as the heads are tightly wrapped yarn so you can keep their appearance neat (no fuzzing or pulling). I transport mine in a mallet bag so I have not experienced any deterioration of the head's appearance.
Question: Does the set actually have Neil Peart's signature incribed
Answer: The total weight of one pair is 0.20 lbs when you put them on a scale , hope this information is helpful.
