The three most common sounds are the bass tone in the middle, the high tone on the edge, and a slap tone produced in a special manner (youtube it).It sounds to me like you are confused about which instrument. I think you are thinking of a cajon which has a bass sound in the middle and may have snares attached on the inside.

Answer:	Yes it can. You can do it with traditional cloth straps as well as synthetic harnesses. However, be mindful that starting at 14" and up, you're talking about drums that weigh 15lbs and up. Answer:	I don't remember any instructions. It is pretty straight forward. It comes assembled. It is like any stand: turn the screws one way to loosen them and extend the length, the other way to tighten them. Adjust the strap to secure the instrument. I don't use it for a drum, but for a Rag Dung. It works perfectly.

Answer:	The widest it could safely clamp would be an inch, and the smallest with the wingnuts screwed down is a half inch. What I find helpful is that since I use a cocktail kit which has the 3/8" Latin Percussion rods, I can clamp this on and also add another LP rod right inside this clamp. Very nice.
