Answer: I consider the beaters to be one way only-felt on one side, rounded plastic as part of the beater head on the other. I suppose you could use this side, however, the design would imply the felt side is the only side to be used...never had the magnets fall off. The "G" emblem on one side fell off at one point, but I glued it back on and have not had a problem since. Very responsive pedal, looks good and has nice features.

Answer: I've used the other end. It's a little more barrel shaped and definitely harder than the felt side. It worked well for my e-kick. Just be sure to install a beater patch of some sort on the head. You may not like the tone produced by the plastic end on an acoustic kit. Could also dent the head.
