11 best drum set mounting arms
Drum set mounting arms, often referred to as clamps or mounting hardware, are essential components of a drum kit used to attach various drum and percussion instruments to the drum set's stands, racks, or other parts of the setup. These mounting arms play a crucial role in configuring the drum kit to the drummer's preferences, ensuring stability, and optimizing the placement of drums and cymbals. Here's what you need to know about drum set mounting arms:
Types of Mounting Arms:
Cymbal Arms: These mounting arms are designed to attach cymbals, such as crash cymbals, ride cymbals, or splash cymbals, to cymbal stands or racks. They come in various lengths and can be adjusted for height and angle to position the cymbals precisely.
Tom Mounts: Tom mounts are used to attach tom drums (rack toms or floor toms) to the bass drum, a tom stand, or a rack system. They allow drummers to position the toms at their preferred height and angle for comfortable playing.
Percussion Clamps: These versatile clamps are used to secure additional percussion instruments, such as cowbells, tambourines, or accessory arms, to the drum set. Percussion clamps are typically adjustable to accommodate various instrument sizes.
Accessory Arms: Accessory arms can hold a variety of drum accessories, such as electronic drum pads, auxiliary cymbals, or percussion instruments. They are available in different lengths and designs to suit specific needs.
Adjustability: Drum set mounting arms are designed to be highly adjustable. They often feature multiple points of adjustment, including angle adjustments, height adjustments, and rotational adjustments. This flexibility allows drummers to fine-tune the placement of their instruments for optimal reach and playability.
Materials and Durability: Mounting arms are typically made from durable materials like steel or aluminum to withstand the rigors of drumming. They are designed to provide stability and support to the attached instruments while withstanding the impact of drumming.
Compatibility: It's essential to ensure that the mounting arms you choose are compatible with your drum kit and the specific instruments you want to attach. Different drum manufacturers may use proprietary mounting systems, so it's important to select mounting arms that match your kit's requirements.
Clamps and Locking Mechanisms: Many mounting arms use clamps or locking mechanisms to secure them in place once they are adjusted to the desired position. These mechanisms ensure that the instruments remain in place during play.
Rack Systems: Some drummers prefer to use rack systems, which consist of a series of interconnected mounting arms, to create a more compact and organized drum setup. Rack systems can accommodate multiple toms, cymbals, and accessories while reducing the need for individual stands.
In summary, drum set mounting arms and clamps are crucial accessories for drummers and percussionists, allowing them to customize the layout and configuration of their drum kit. These versatile components provide stability and flexibility, enabling drummers to achieve their desired sound and play comfortably.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be fix to the hi hat stand |
Answer: | The assembly can be tricky. Be sure the screws aren't backwards meaning the front screws are aligned in the front and the longer screws are on the back. They are the same diameter but different lengths. We can email you the instructions if you need a digital copy. |
Question: | Can i use this to attach my rack tom to crash stand |
Answer: | The coloring of this item, is as pictured. |
Question: | Would this be sufficient for mounting an extra Roland drum trigger pad to my hihat stand? So I can have an electric snare next to my acoustic snare |
Answer: | No. I haven't seen or known this to happen with my daughter. The back legs entend pretty far out and the toy had great balance. She's now almost 2 yrs old and and still plays with this toy. |
Question: | I want to mount a cowbell onto my mic stand. Will this do? If not, any suggestions? I don't have any other percussion items except for a tambourine. Thanks |
Answer: | No it doesn't fold up. It's a lovely toy though... |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the mount included |
Answer: | Hell yeah it can be and it works great. On the stand, of course, not the post above the cymbals |
Question: | What is thr center distance between the 2 screws that mount to the bass drum itself |
Answer: | I wouldn't recommend it. I'd stick with a tom arm and clamp to mount from the crash stand. |
Question: | how tall off the base drum |
Answer: | I think it would hold it ok , not a lot of downforce on an electric pad. |
Question: | will the l bracket fit a ludwig standard kit from the 70s |
Answer: | Hi it probably would work on a mic stand however I wouldn't do it as you will probably damage the stand (Chip paint, put dents in it etc). I would suggest mounting it onto a hi hat stand or another cymbal stand. The Pearl PPS-37 post accessory mount is a good option for cowbells too. |

User questions & answers
Question: | could you please confirm the dimensions in inches |
Answer: | I am using the bracket anchored to an existing Ludwig 20" Bass drum which is setting on a two inch lift. This works great with an 18" Crash Ride. Not recommending a 20" cymbal for this attachment. 16 " inch stable elevation sounds about right ... This bracket rod is compatible with Ludwig vintage 60 's hardware mounting brackets. Gibraltar makes very nice hardware. |
Question: | Would this work with the pearl crystal beat tom |
Answer: | I believe so It fits my 70's Slingerland bracket |
Question: | What is the diameter of the tube |
Answer: | I am not sure if I understand your question. If you mean whether the clamp can be attached to the hi hat stand, I would say no. Regards |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this an 8mm diameter for the threaded post |
Answer: | Yes, 8mm. |
Question: | Didnt see this mentioned in details. Just wanted to make sure. Are both parts with wing nuts adjustable |
Answer: | Yes. What they are not showing is that this is a regular style boom arm, they just have the arm portion contracted into the main tube. You pull the arm out and the lower wing is actually on a normal ratchet of a normal style boom arm. I can't remember its length- and you adjust angle and rotation of the arm at that ratchet, and of course regular tilt at the other wing. |
Question: | Does the tilter(s) have teeth, or is it smooth (infinite angle adjust)? Thanks |
Answer: | Teeth on both tilters (boom and cymbal holder). I recommend it anyway. |
Question: | Is ths a telescoping boom arm? In other words, can you slide the cymbal rod straight down into the tube |
Answer: | Yes, it can slide in ("hideaway"). |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this l-rod fit a pdp cx series tom (rack or mounted floor tom |
Answer: | The ad says it is a 7/8" post. |
Question: | this is to stick a tom off a bass drum right |
Answer: | yes, the mount was included. I gig about 6-8 nights a month, and have been using it for months now on my Ludwig kit. Very pleased with its quality and its function. I keep a 14 in. crash cymbal on it fully extended. |
Question: | Will this work with Tama Starclassic toms |
Answer: | I can't answer it. I would have to take the head off of my bass drum and measure it, and my bass drum is at the studio. I can tell you, that even if you have to do some adjusting or drill new holes, this addition is worth it. Very sturdy and functional. I use it for a 14" crash, and it works well. Fits right in with the original Ludwig parts on my set. |

Question: | My twin tom downrod is a true 1-1/4 diameter, other clamps are not wide enough. Will this clamp really accept and hold a 1-1/4 twin tom downrod |
Answer: | I measured the diameter of the inside clamp it was 1 3/8". Your Twin Downrod @ 1-1/4" would work; however, you may have to included some additional padding inside the Gibraltar Multi-Clamp to tighten to your Twin Downrod. Call ABR-MusicVideo (262) 632-9222 to receive a discount. |
Question: | Does this clamp works for the Alesis Sample pad mount |
Answer: | it fits all the standard sized tube racks. I have used it on several, including my Alesis DM10 pro kit. I built a huge mega rack from pieces from several kits to hold my giant drum kit, and these clamps fit everywhere. |
