12 best metal guitars

Metal guitars, often referred to as "electric guitars" in the context of music, are a crucial component of many genres of music, including rock, metal, blues, and more. They have a distinct design and sound that sets them apart from acoustic guitars. Here's what you need to know about metal guitars:

  1. Electric Guitar Basics: Electric guitars are a type of guitar that relies on electronic amplification to produce sound. They have a solid body, which differentiates them from acoustic guitars that have a hollow body. The amplified sound is generated through pickups, which convert the vibrations of the strings into electrical signals.

  2. Solid Body Design: Metal guitars typically have a solid body made from various types of wood, such as mahogany, alder, ash, or maple. The solid body construction reduces feedback and allows for the sustain and distortion commonly associated with metal music.

  3. Pickups: Electric guitars feature pickups, which are electromagnetic devices that capture the vibrations of the strings. There are different types of pickups, including single-coil and humbucker pickups. Humbuckers are more commonly used in metal guitars because they reduce the interference (hum) associated with single-coil pickups and offer a thicker, more powerful sound.

  4. Scale Length: Metal guitars often have a longer scale length compared to other electric guitars. This longer scale length can result in increased tension on the strings, facilitating lower tunings commonly used in metal music.

  5. Bridge and Tremolo Systems: Metal guitars may have specialized bridge and tremolo systems that allow for extreme pitch manipulation, such as dive bombs and squeals. These features are popular in heavy metal and hard rock genres.

  6. Neck and Fretboard: The neck of a metal guitar can vary in terms of shape and material. Common neck shapes include "C," "D," and "V" profiles. Fretboards are typically made of rosewood, maple, or ebony. Metal guitars often have jumbo frets for ease of bending and playing fast solos.

  7. Body Shape: Metal guitars come in various body shapes, and some manufacturers offer more unconventional designs. Popular shapes include the Stratocaster-style, Telecaster-style, Les Paul-style, and more modern, aggressive shapes like the "V" and "Explorer."

  8. Tonewoods: The choice of tonewoods for the body and neck can impact the guitar's tone. Mahogany is often preferred for its warm, sustain-rich sound, while maple can produce brighter tones.

  9. Pickup Configurations: Metal guitars may have different pickup configurations, including single-coil, humbucker, or a combination of both. Many metal guitars have two humbuckers for a powerful and noise-resistant sound.

  10. String Gauges: Metal guitarists frequently use heavier gauge strings to achieve lower tunings and maintain tension for extended downtuned playing.

In summary, metal guitars, also known as electric guitars, have a solid body and are crucial instruments in various music genres, including heavy metal and hard rock. They are known for their versatility and the ability to produce a wide range of tones, making them a staple for many guitarists in the metal music scene.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it comes with a bag
Answer: Actually this guitar seems best suited for Metal! The pickups are really clean when using a Metal pedal
Question: is this guitar good for metal music
Answer: I don't think it does unless otherwise stated by the seller. I bought mine online. I came without a strap.
Question: Does this guitar come with a strap
Answer: Tremolo's are often referred to as wawah bars, since they will induce a wawah into an existing sound. They are notorious for throwing a guitar out of tune. For the money this is a very good guitar. Even the tremolo is not bad. If you are able to spend another $50.00 you can get a locking tremolo that will help hold the guitars tune. You can also spend $10.00 and buy a good Snark tuner, which can stay attached to the head of the guitar. With the Snark you can retune your guitar in less than a minute.
Question: does it have a tremolo to help keep it in tune
Answer: There are several upbeat songs but none are commercial tunes (top 40)
