10 best esp 8 string guitars

ESP 8-string guitars are electric guitars with a design based on the traditional solid-body electric guitar but with an extended range, featuring eight strings instead of the standard six or seven. These guitars are known for their versatility and are popular in various genres of music, including metal, progressive rock, and jazz.

The extra strings on an 8-string guitar provide a broader tonal range, allowing players to achieve lower frequencies and extended high-end notes. The tuning of an 8-string guitar typically starts from low to high: F#-B-E-A-D-G-B-E. This tuning allows for lower notes compared to a 6-string or 7-string guitar, making it ideal for heavy, low-tuned music styles.

ESP, a well-known guitar manufacturer, offers a range of 8-string guitars, each with its own unique features, styles, and pickups. These guitars are constructed with solid bodies for durability and often feature high-quality tonewoods, including mahogany, maple, and basswood, to influence the overall tone and sustain of the instrument.

In terms of pickups, ESP 8-string guitars commonly utilize active or passive humbucking pickups, which can vary in output and tonal characteristics. Players can choose pickups that suit their playing style, whether they prefer a clean, warm sound or a more aggressive, distorted tone.

The neck and fretboard design on ESP 8-string guitars are crafted for optimal playability, allowing players to navigate the extended range comfortably. The neck profile may vary to accommodate different preferences, from thin and flat profiles to thicker, more rounded ones.

Overall, ESP 8-string guitars are sought after by musicians seeking to expand their sonic capabilities and explore the extended tonal range provided by the extra strings, making them a popular choice among metal and progressive guitarists.

User questions & answers

Question: When will this be available in another color
Answer: I personally love playing on G# (Ab) so I would definitely recommend getting string gauges 80-15 if you want to play on the same tuning I like but they’ll do just fine if you want to play on A. By the way if you like Meshuggah and know their songs you should buy string gauges 85-15 and tune super low on F and there you got yourself some serious metal mayhem. I hope I was able to help 🤘🏻
Question: What are the recommended tuning limits? i would like to play things from b drop a to e standard. i can go without e stnd, i just want my low tunes
Answer: Yes it comes with strings. I bought for my fiance for his birthday as he is an avid guitar player, he absolutely loves it! He plays it all the time.
Question: Does it come with strings
Answer: Its a three way switch
Question: hello, is there coil splitting via 5 way switch
Answer: Nop

User questions & answers

Question: What does the black sunburst come with
Answer: No, I didn’t get one with it
Question: Does it come with a case
Answer: Unfortunately no. This is a completely fixed bridge that doesn't use a whammy bar. Tremolo systems that use a whammy bar are a little more complicated and require a larger cavity in the back of the instrument for spring tension, so you typically can't add a whammy bar to a guitar that isn't configured to take one already. Hope this helps!
Question: Can i install a whammy bar into the bridge
Answer: 24th fret access is excellent and smooth.
Question: How good is the access to the 24th fret? Will I have to curl my hand a lot or is it smoother
Answer: One week and the only other color is metallic blue.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with a bag or does it just come in a cardboard box
Answer: I use this on my swim platform on the back of the boat. its made of teak. it shows the wood grain very well. its between a light and medium stain. I don't know how well it will work on oak, but I don't see why it wouldn't.
Question: Which hardcase specifically fits this Omen-8 like a glove
Answer: This is the best stuff I've used on teak, I usually sand the teak smooth and put on 2 to 3 coats with no sanding. This product goes a long way and I only use the clear on my teak. It looks great. Remember its all in the preparation.
Question: It says that the bridge is tune-o-matic, but i don't see a tune-o-matic in the pictures. can anyone confirm this guitar doesn't that kind of bridge
Answer: The basic product is what I use. They have a gloss which only is good over their product. It's not something I have found useful. I have not used the teak color but I suspect it's only a color differential.
Question: Does it djent
Answer: Yes I use it on boat trim. However I do not think you can put it on and forget it. I believe the salt should be rinsed off regularly and railing dried if possible. The combination of sun and salt water build up will degrade the finish quickly. Also regular timely refinishing as noted in the product data is required. (Light sanding and re coating) I also use it on a Cyprus railing a few blocks from the beach and it is holding up well
