13 best dean electro acoustic guitars

Dean is a reputable manufacturer of electric guitars, including electro-acoustic guitars. These instruments combine the traditional acoustic sound of a guitar with the convenience of built-in electronics, allowing players to plug into amplifiers or sound systems for live performances or recording. Here are some key aspects of Dean electro-acoustic guitars:

  1. Design and Construction: Dean electro-acoustic guitars feature a hollow or semi-hollow body design that resonates naturally like an acoustic guitar. These guitars typically have a cutaway shape, which provides easier access to higher frets.

  2. Tonewoods: Dean uses a variety of tonewoods in the construction of their electro-acoustic guitars. Common choices for the top (soundboard) include spruce, cedar, or mahogany, while the back and sides may be made from woods like mahogany, maple, or rosewood. The selection of tonewoods can significantly influence the guitar's tone.

  3. Electronics: The "electro" aspect of these guitars refers to the built-in electronics. Dean electro-acoustic guitars are equipped with pickups, preamps, and onboard controls. These electronics allow the player to amplify and shape the sound of the guitar when connected to an amplifier or PA system.

  4. Pickup Types: Dean offers a range of pickup systems in their electro-acoustic guitars. Common pickup types include piezo pickups located under the saddle or soundboard, as well as built-in microphones. Some models may also feature combination pickup systems that offer versatility in sound shaping.

  5. Controls: The onboard preamp typically includes controls for volume, tone, and sometimes EQ adjustments. These controls allow the player to fine-tune the amplified sound to their liking.

  6. Bridge and Saddle: The bridge and saddle of Dean electro-acoustic guitars are essential components that transmit the string vibrations to the guitar's body and pickups. These components can affect the guitar's intonation and sustain.

  7. String Types: These guitars typically use steel-string sets, similar to those used on acoustic guitars. The choice of string gauge can impact the playability and tone of the instrument.

  8. Versatility: Dean electro-acoustic guitars are versatile instruments suitable for various musical styles, including folk, rock, country, and more. Their ability to be played both acoustically and amplified makes them ideal for a wide range of performance settings.

  9. Price Range: Dean offers electro-acoustic guitars in various price ranges, catering to both beginners and experienced players. The cost of the guitar will depend on factors such as the model, features, and build quality.

When considering a Dean electro-acoustic guitar, it's essential to try out different models to find the one that suits your playing style and preferences. The choice of tonewoods, pickups, and electronics can significantly affect the guitar's sound, so be sure to explore various options to find the right fit for your musical needs.

User questions & answers

Question: Need a cheap solution to an audio/video sync issue I'm having, it requires me to have no repeat though obviously. can you set it with NO repeats
Answer: No; while this pedal can do no repeats it doesn't let you delay the signal by itself. i.e. it won't let you delay incoming signal by 1 seconds=, but would let you have the signal come in and play at normal time and then have the same signal play again 1 second later.
Question: anyone experience line noise from this guy
Answer: The only thing that I've noticed is when switching on & off there's a very light tick that I hear. But then , I'm going direct into the PA , and using ear buds.
Question: Does this use the same kind of AC adapter as every other guitar pedal? (9v, tip negative, 5.5mm x 2.1mm
Answer: Pedals are 50/50 when it comes to Negative or Positive tips. I have cheap chinese pedals, an MXR pedal, a Morley wah, a Vox wah, a Behringer pedal and a couple of cruddy Zoom multi-effects units and only the Behringer is a negative tip. Quick internet search on official Danelectro power supply accessories (DA-1 9V) clearly shows their pedals are positive tip.
Question: Is this pedal 9v and is the center pin negative
Answer: Wow ... I can't believe all the BAD answers. YES, it used the "standard" stomp pedal 9v supplies, where the Center Pin is NEGATIVE. As such, you can Daisy-Chain it along the same power feed as your other pedals. I've used the Snark SA-1 and the TrueTone 1-Spot with no issues.

User questions & answers

Question: Analogue or digital? true-bypass or buffered? led color
Answer: One way to tell if its "buffered bypass" aka not true bypass, is to unplug the battery or PSU and see if sound still passes thru the pedal. I'm guessing these are buffered bypass. they're far to cheap to be true bypass.
Question: Does this come with a power supply or do i have do buy something seperate to power it
Answer: I had to buy a separate power supply for it but you can just get a 9 volt battery and it will work fine.
Question: can you chain these pedels with one 9volt power supply
Answer: Yep! I use a 9volt power supply that came with a boss pedal, and I use a daisy chain to power all my pedals.
Question: Anybody use it for Bass guitar? How's it sound
Answer: Sounds very “chorusy” on a bass...

User questions & answers

Question: Does this work with an electric violin
Answer: It works with a homemade piezo transducer pickup that I've installed on homemade cigar box guitars and ukuleles. My setup is very primitive so I can't imagine that it would not work with an electric violin.
Question: How well does this work with a tenor ukulele
Answer: works well with tremolo and reverb settings. I've used it on both a tenor and concert ukulele. No distortion.
Question: Is there a place on the unit to plug in a 9-volt battery adapter
Answer: Yes
Question: Does the tremolo sound on this amp sound any better than that produced on a Behringer guitar effects pedal
Answer: It is an ok tremolo. Cannot speak for the Behringer pedal since I have never heard one. Jack / Jax Music Supply

User questions & answers

Question: Would this fix a slight hiss if put between my pedal board and the sound board
Answer: Yes, it could, but you might have to compensate by adding a little treble to the instrument to compensate for dunking down treble with the pedal.
Question: What is the rated input impedance
Answer: I don't know the exact impedance, but it's hi Z, quarter inch input and output.
Question: Can I use this EQ to adjust the tones/frequencies on my Sennheiser headphones when watching movies? If so, any special adaptors needed
Answer: Nah, this eq pedal isn't a stereo unit you can put between the receiver and the amp or the amp output to the headphones. Doesn't work like that. Really, if your Sennheiser headphones aren't good enough, try a stereo headphones enhancer. Try to think about what's wrong that I can't hear what I"m suppose to. Maybe need a better player.
Question: Will this work with an electric bass guitar
Answer: It works fine for bass. I use mine for a ukulele.

Answer: It would work with other pedals, just find out where in the chain you want to add echo to the signal
Question: Can this pedal be used as reverb
Answer: Yes, this pedal sounds more like the old tube amp-spring type reverb , than an echo. I use it to get that Clapton sound when I play " Can't Find My Way Home". Hey, for the price, you can't go wrong....
Question: Do dano pedals use - or + post 9v adapters
Answer: Yes, they use a 9v battery adapter
Question: Is this pedal digital or analog
Answer: The delay uses a PT2399 digital delay chip, so it's a digital delay. Also a pretty moddable delay.
