14 best esp acoustic guitar pickups

ESP is a well-known manufacturer of electric guitars, including their popular line of acoustic-electric guitars that feature acoustic pickups. Acoustic pickups are electronic devices designed to capture the sound of an acoustic guitar and convert it into an electrical signal that can be amplified and manipulated. These pickups are commonly used in acoustic-electric guitars to allow the player to play at higher volumes and easily connect to amplification systems.

ESP's acoustic pickups are designed to provide a natural and accurate representation of the acoustic guitar's sound. They typically use piezo-electric pickups, which are commonly placed under the saddle or bridge of the guitar. Piezo pickups work by detecting the vibrations of the strings and converting them into electrical signals.

The placement of the pickup affects the tone and response of the amplified sound. Under-saddle pickups are popular for their ability to capture the natural sound of the guitar, while soundboard transducer pickups are mounted on the top of the guitar, capturing more of the body resonance and warmth.

ESP likely offers a range of acoustic pickups, each with its own characteristics and features to cater to different player preferences. These pickups are usually paired with preamps that allow the player to control the tone, volume, and other aspects of the amplified sound.

Overall, ESP's acoustic pickups aim to provide guitarists with a reliable and high-quality means of amplifying their acoustic guitar sound, maintaining the natural tone and characteristics of the instrument.

User questions & answers

Question: Best through an electric guitar amp or acoustic amp
Answer: sounds great through both, But if you want it for Acoustic, Stick with an Acoustic amp.
Question: Work without amplifier?, that is to say, something like "acoustic mode
Answer: For practice session, works great acoustically. In a small setting, I think it's loud enough. But for a stage or large room, I would not recommend it unless you amp it.
Question: Is the preamp the tl-3 or tl-6 on the steel string natural
Answer: The preamp on my nylon strings guitar is tl-3.
Question: Does it actually sounds like an acustic when unplugged
Answer: Doesn't really sound very impressive when unplugged, but you can hear yourself well enough that it's useful for quiet practice. The TL-12 is designed to sound great when it's plugged in to an amp, PA, or recording rig. Thin body means it's easy to handle when performing, especially if you're singing too.

Unique F Hole

Take this classical acoustic electric for a spin and hear how much resonance each string achieves. That's due to the acoustic resonant chamber built from maple and mahogany. Maple brings in a rounded brightness to each note, while mahogany keeps things nice and warm, pushing those low and middle frequencies. This instrument boasts a somewhat atypical design for a classical guitar, with its narrow soundhole to the side rather than right under the strings -- a style that'll make you stand out visually as well as tonally from the crowd.

Grover Tuning Machines
Fishman TL-3 Preamp w/ Onboard Tuner

A B-Band Electret film transducer with active electronics captures the colorful dynamics of each string and fires it through a B-Band T-7 preamp to forge a signal eager to hit your amplifier or PA system. An easy-to-read onboard tuner features a colored display screen that turns from blue to green when the string is in tune -- so it's easy to get tuned up fast in low lighting settings. You also have a phase switch, a master volume control, and three-band EQ control at your fingertips to tweak your output.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with a case
Answer: Yes, it does!

ESP LTD James Hetfield Snakebyte Electric Guitar, Satin Black

ESP LTD's James Hetfield Snakebyte electric guitar may carry the Metallica frontman's name and signature pickups, but with its set-neck construction and locking tuners, it's got features to please just about anyone with a wild and heavy playing style.

Founded in 1996, ESP's LTD brand helped bring the quality and prestige of ESP to a more affordable price in order to accommodate all players. A wide range of LTD models are made to cover everyone from beginning players to serious working musicians. With numerous different model families to choose from, we are sure there is an LTD guitar perfect for you!

Hetfield-Designed Pickups Roar

Players on a mission to nail those heavy Metallica rhythm guitar sounds will appreciate the pickups loaded in the Snakebyte. The EMG JH 'Het Set' pickups were designed in collaboration with Hetfield himself, to evoke the EMG pickups he's used for the past 30 years. The neck pickup includes ceramic poles and bobbins, while the bridge pickup uses steel pole pieces. The results for both are higher-output and fuller in the low end than the EMG 60/81 combo Hetfield previously used.

Custom Snakebyte Marker

The mahogany neck is set into the body for improved sustain, and is cut in a thin-U neck contour for speedy play. The 22 extra-jumbo fret ebony fretboard features a custom Snakebyte marker centered around the 12th fret.

Thrash Away While Staying in Tune

To ensure the Snakebyte was ready for wild and aggressive players, ESP outfitted the guitar with high-end features like Sperzel locking tuners, and a TonePros locking Tune-O-Matic bridge and tailpiece. Though the hardtail bridge does not offer whammy bar potential, the locking bridge and tuners mean you can beat down on the low strings or make wide bends on the high strings without worrying about unintentional detuning.

Question: Has anyone tried this on a harmonica
Answer: I just tried it - yes, you can get an amplified sound out of a blown harmonica. The question I'd have is how you could hold and manipulate the harmonica with the transducer attached, but if you're motivated, it'd be worth a try. Maybe with a holder for the harmonica?

  • Package Including:1 x Piezo

User questions & answers

Question: What size is it
Answer: Measure the slot in the bridge .that will tell you what size you need. Most are all the same unless the slot is a different length
Question: would this work with a shadow preamp, epiphone? i need to replace the pick up in it
Answer: The pickup itself should work just fine. The question lies in whether the jack on this unit will be the right one for your preamp. If you're handy with a soldering iron, you could get the correct jack from your old pickup or a new one from Radio Shack and attach it yourself. Just make sure it's shielded or you'll get interference in your signal.
Question: I am looking for a flat (not rounded) piezo under saddle to replace my fishman matrix elements piezo which is flat and narrow. will this pickup work
Answer: TMI - It's appears to be ~$100 cheaper than the actual replacement part (Fishman Acoustic Matrix Pickup, Narrow Format by Fishman on Amazon) so it might be worth a try. No site I found including Fishman gives the specific measurements of all 3 aspects of the original - l x w x h. The replacement appears to be slightly longer which might not be a problem. If it fits it will likely "work" but at what cost? Volume difference, change in string height, etc.? I ordered several different cheap p/u's (for a used $150 classical guitar that required a very long p/u) as none were exact, and just kept the ones that did not fit. I'm sure a few could have been returned. It was a $3 p/u that worked in the end but there is some volume loss. This in turn worked out as I have more range to work with on the volume knob before it is too loud or gritty, so it is easier to adjust on the fly in mid-song without over or undershooting. This might lead to tone loss, but subtle if it has. The strings also sit lower, but this did not cause string-buzz or impact the sound much so another misfitting that was fortuitous. Still, most folks would be much better off paying the higher price for the true replacement part as "dumb luck" like this is rare and most guitars are too nice to tinker with just for curiosity sake. Way TMI - If you do attempt to "experiment", first measure the length, width, and height/depth of the p/u you are replacing. If it is too tall or short it will change your bridge height which will likely suck things up playing and even sound-wise. If it is too long it won't fit, too short it won't have even/balanced volume from strings where it runs short. Too wide and it won't fit in the saddle. Next, eyeball the hole under your bridge to see if it will go through. Mine did not fit, but it was close so I hollowed it out a bit more. Then make sure the "output plug" is the right length, There are 2 common sizes - a short and a long. The site notes the 2.5mm is "standard" and I think that is the longer one, the other being maybe 1.8mm. If you try cheaper options, you definitely want to order a p/u that has the plug already attached. I originally ordered a version w/o a plug and cut the plug off my original p/u. The wiring was different due to one having a mesh ground around the wiring. This should not be a concern if you do get the actual Fishman replacement part which does not appear to have the plug on the one I found on Amazon. The wiring should be the exact same. My $3 p/u easily trimmed trimmed with scissors length-wise but might sit too low for your needs (Bendable Piezo Cable Undersaddle Pickup For Acoustic Guitar - Worldwide by SODIAL on Amazon).
Question: Is the cord really only 33mm in length? In the picture of the product, the cord appears to be 4 or 5 times as long as the pickup
Answer: I've installed the pickup in a guitar, so I can't measure the wire, but my guess is that it's 33 cm. It's definitely not 33mm. It's long enough to reach from the saddle to an endpin or preamp on an acoustic guitar.

Question: Is this flat mount
Answer: No. It is made to fit on the curve of the upper bout. There is some rubber padding on the base to accommodate a slight bit of difference on the curves.
Question: Gonna order the 5 Band one from amazon.in, not sure whether it really has a mic included... nothing's clear from images and does the display light up
Answer: That L shaped thing on the right is a piezo pick up element that you install under the saddle. There is no microphone per se. The display is a standard LED readout ( Light Emitting Diode) that you can see easily in daylight.
Question: what exactly do u do with these grip looking things with wires attChed? then it says volomn and tone is it like the one with the amplifier? ive neve
Answer: They are level controls like an amplifier, the straight device is the pickup that goes under the saddle of the guitar,it has a small plug that goes into the amp, The other is the battery box and output to the guitar
Question: What are the inside hole dimensions of the preamp
Answer: This is a preamp for a full size guitar only. Thanks,Musiclily

User questions & answers

Question: Do these work with first act acoustic guitars
Answer: They should work with most guitars. My guess is they will be way too long, but can be cut down. Make sure you do it after stringing and cut both wires on the wound strings so they don't unravel.I had to cut off about 8 inches on my acoustic Seagull.
Question: Have a EJ200 Epiphone. Would like to replace strings. What type of D'Addario strings do I use
Answer: I have a 45 year old Martin d-28 I use the extra light strings EJ 15 3 Dbecause I like to fingerpickthey have a very good warm soundif your guitar is fairly new try the light gauge strings they sound very good too and you can buy 3 packs for under $15 at Amazon. D'Addario makes a good string and I find they last a long time. I highly recommend!
Question: I bought these for my son and the first two strings broke when he was putting them on. We are on the third set in twenty minutes
Answer: When you put on a string, you have to allow enough slack for the string to coil around the tuner post. Feed the string through and leave enough slack so you can pull the string about 4 inches above the fret board and then slowly wind it up and as it tightens, pause once in a while let the string stretch. Some strings can take a day to stretch, some don't. Be patient. Good luck...but if you don't leave slack for coiling strings will break.
Question: So does this come with all 6 strings? Im completely new to guitars
Answer: Yes, this is a full set.Specifically this is a set of 3. If you want just one select the 1 pack. (I tried to include a link but Amazon defaults it to the 3 pack for some reason)It is possible to look up and find individual strings, but honestly that ends up being more difficult in my opinion and for the cost you might as well grab a set.I am fairly new to guitars as well, so let me just take a moment to say these strings are highly recommended. Great choice.

User questions & answers

Question: I live in Georgia(in Europe), so I'm worried about damaging guitar. it comes without case, what should i do to avoid damage when its transported
Answer: Giorgi, It comes very well packaged in sturdy cardboard & foam. It arrived to me without any damage. I bought a gig bag for transportation now that I have it.
Question: does it have a gloss neck
Answer: No, it's a satin neck.
Question: Are these covered in a fake wood veneer, or are they solid alder with a clear coat finish
Answer: I wouldn't say a solid piece of alder, and some are saying 3 to 5 solid pieces put together very professionally, but mine seems to be 3 pieces put together not 5. As for the butterscotch color, it's a beautiful butterscotch with a clear coat so you can clearly see the wood grains straight through. It's interesting because other butterscotch blonde telecasters have a solid color and you cannot see through them, but for this affinity telecaster, it's quite a sight to see in person.
Question: can i use snigjat guitar stand(https://www.amazon.com/dp/b07wdpwczh/ref=sr_1_39?keywords=guitar+stand) with fender electric guitar
Answer: Yes you surely can..The stand is light but very nice and i would say as long as you use common sense caution around the guitar when its in the stand then it will be just fine! Nice guitar by the way' I have the same one and love it"

ESP Guitars - About the Company

In 1975, a new musical instrument shop called Electric Sound Products opened in Tokyo, Japan. In the back of the store was a small area for making custom replacement parts for guitars and basses. Today, ESP’s Custom Shop, Original Series, E-II, Signature and LTD brands make guitars, basses, and cases for every style of music, and are available in more than 100 countries.

ESP has been recognized for its high quality standards and meticulous craftsmanship since the company was founded. Every ESP instrument is inspected thoroughly by our quality control technicians prior to shipping to your local dealer.

For our 40th anniversary in 2015, we’ve created a selection of very special limited-edition guitars to commemorate this important milestone in our history.

ESP LTD EC-1000 Deluxe Series Electric Guitar

Think you'll never own a finely-tuned shred machine? Think again. The ESP LTD EC1000 Deluxe is a lean, mean, speed machine, with the tone and feel of a custom-shop thrasher, but at a price that will have you rubbing your eyes in disbelief.

For the simple strumming and quaint melodic lines of old-time rock 'n' roll, the basic guitar designs of yesteryear are good enough, but if you want to shred with speed and accuracy, you'd better make sure your axe is up to the challenge. You'd better be sure it won't go out of tune easily, has screaming tone, and plays faster than a speed demon on ice skates. The ESP LTD EC1000 Deluxe meets all those criteria and looks darn good doing it.

EMG Pickups

While the EMG 81s are capable of a wide array of styles, they excel at high-gain, modern heavy metal. The increased output of the EMGs can push an amplifier's input gain into the red for scorching tone you've never heard before, while the active circuitry keeps everything whisper quiet when you're not playing. Get ready for tone that's dramatic, epic, and totally metal.

Impeccable Action

Your strings can only go as low as your highest fret, so ESP takes great care in seating the frets, making sure there are no speed bumps on the riffage expressway.

Serious Sustain

A Tonepros locking bridge with stop tailpiece has individually tunable saddles, as well as an adjustable overall height, so you'll be able to dial in the exact action that suits your playing style.
